  1. The problem is exacerbated by the habit of passengers opening the front door to tell drivers their destination. This gives drivers the easy option of declining. I don't know why people just don't get in the back and then tell the driver where they want to go ( probably because of fear of being kicked out with menace? ).

Like I did at the airport on Monday - only to get 15 metres down the road before he says, "No meter - 400 baht" (to Sukhumvit). Needless to say I got out.

  2. Funny that ASTV, a decidedly Pro Yellow, Ant-Shinawatea source states 15 suitcases, while all other reports state 11, and that being among 4 people. But Sondhi's "mouthpiece" has to make it 15 just for her! Slightly biased and prejudicial reporting perhaps?

Actually, 5 people. She, her niece, her son and two of his buddies. All 1st Class..baggage is not an issue. And does ASTV think she'll be allowed a visa with a 1 way ticket. She holds no political office now.

Would she not need a visa if she's on a diplomatic passport? (which I assume she is). I don't know though.

Why would she be using a diplomatic passport? She is no longer a member of any government, merely as she says, a private citizen.

    Edited for bad spelling.

That's true, but there have been examples of others holding diplomatic passports after leaving office. Thaksin for one for a while IIRC. I seem to recall a debate going on about it for a while.

  4. Correct me if I am wrong. The Thai Belgian bridge is not closed at all. I just drove over it recently. Anyone in Sathorn/Rama 4 please confirm.

You are correct - it's the Thai-Japanese bridge/flyover that is currently closed for repair, albeit only in one direction (Sam Yan - Lumpini Park). I work in Chamchuri Square and can see it from my office window. They were painting new lines on the repaired section yesterday, so should be open soon.

  5. I bought a Focus Titanium 2.0 from Ford Srinakarin a year ago. I got proper fitted Ford carpet mats plus the square rubber ones without asking. As far as I'm concerned the rubber ones protect the carpet ones. Great car, great service. Sure, Ford are trying to penetrate the Thai market, but compared to the bog standard, low spec dross Honda & Toyota offer there is no competition, in my view.

  6. A bridge that is blocked with cones and barriers and somebody "just took a wrong turn". Give me a break! Propaganda at it's best! facepalm.gif

Learn to read, then come back.

It clearly says SEVERAL (which means more than one) motorists took a wrong turn thinking the bridge was open. It was open and closed several times during the past days so its clear to see how someone might drive into it thinking it is currently open.

Your attempt to defend Suthep's militia shooting at people in Bangkok at their own free will is nothing short of disgusting.

This is nonsense. This bridge has been firmly closed since January 13th. I'll try to post a pic later. The "bunker" is 200 meters away. A fine shot from there.

  8. Unless you are a resident of Thailand (i.e. have permanent residency) then I understand it that we are still residents of our home country. I still have an address (my brother's) and bank account in the UK after 21 years in Thailand and I still state the UK as my country of residence on official forms. I do this as I am a 'guest' here on temporary one-year work visa (work permit), and which I am constantly reminded of. I would use your father's address. IMO they just want a contact address so that they can correspond with you. Email and ask them. Can do no harm.

  9. Good, his company's staff and procedures are just fine.

Now all he has to do is sort out his own mouth and explain to Star Alliance why he lied about a non-exist group wide policy which had to be retracted and amended to a Thai Airways policy. Of course he may not feel obliged to explain anything to a bunch of foreigners.

Yes, particularly since the Star Alliance logo (located near the cockpit window) was left for all to see.

  10. To my opinion Surin is one of the few real politicians in Thailand. He has a huge international experience and for sure knows exactly what democracy really means.

This is how I understand the article:

    - "Democracy in Thailand has different definition,"

Read Most Thai people don't understand what democracy is really about.

    - "Currently, the opposition could not work effectively in the parliament, independent organizations are not truly independent and the mass media cannot access information freely"

Means that the ruling party monopolizes the parliament, that the so-called independent organizations are influenced by the majority. And we know that the press is always mostly government controlled

    - The problem is not a conflict between the government and the opposition as it is in many other countries but also comes from outsiders who have fuelled misunderstanding and mistrust, he said.

Means that the division in Thailand is mainly the result of "the man in Dubai"
