  1. Anybody heard about a large storm predicted here over next few days, lots of the locals are taking it pretty seriously.

I'm not taking it seriously. Metrological forcasts for Pattaya area is just much of the same for the next ten days; ie hot & humid with some rain and light wind.

Have you posted on the wrong forum? Perhaps you need the Bangladesh forum?

A thieve was kicking on the victim‘s motorbike to tumble down in the middle of the road. Moreover, the suspect had brutally hacked on the victim‘s head before taking the motorbike and sped away.

Mr. Tharathorn told police, he was riding his motorbike to his residence in the Soi, after finishing his work. On the way going home alone, where it was dark and isolated, there were two teens on a motorbike, riding close to him.

The man who was on the pillion seat had kicked on his motorbike, tumbled down and the suspects had stopped their motorbike. Immediately, one of them pulled out a knife, hacked on his head and threatened for his property. Mr. Tharathorn said he had managed to get up and ran to ask the near by neighbor for help. The thieves then grabbed his new orange and gray Honda Wave 125 motorbike, license No. 672, Chonburi, and sped away together.

The victim's neighbor informed his relative to notify Sawang Boriboon rescue to take him to the hospital. Initially, police presumed that the suspects could be the teen gang in the Soi who were waiting to rob the victim regularly because the routing was quite dark and isolated. Frenchman hurt following alleged attack on woman in front of South Pattaya Condominium.

Pattaya Police were called to the Flybird Condominium Building C located in South Pattaya on Sunday Night to deal with an attack on a foreign resident. Police arrived and attempted to communicate with the victim who was clearly intoxicated, Mr. Pascal aged 57 from France, however this was not possible as he was more concerned about injuries sustained to his hands than speaking with the Police.

Khun Noogaree aged 36, who was also involved in the case, explained that Mr. Pascal approached her while she was using a Laundry Cleaner located at the base of the building. She claims that he attempted to smash a beer bottle over her head, however he missed and fell to the floor.

Before he fell, the bottle broke and pieces of the glass ended up embedded in Mr. Pascal’s hand. Police are unsure if this was the actual chain-of-events as there were no other witnesses and no account forthcoming from Mr. Pascal. Police are following-up the case at this time.

  9. If one opens a fixed term deposit, say 3 Months at 2.375% what happens at the end of the three months? Does the account revert back to basic rate of 0.75%?

If, towards the end of the 3 months; you revisit the bank and ask for another 3 month term, what if the rates have changed? Is the interest compounded from the first 3 months?

Explanations welcome. I did try asking in the bank but we could not make ourselves understood.

  10. Agreed. TT&T is the best. Just visit their office in Carrefour (Pattaya Klang). I got a line for 3,000 baht and a free digital SMS telephone thrown-in.

The line was up and running within five days.

It depends on where in Pattaya you live for ADSL broadband. When I was in their office, they brought out a load of drawings and connection charts and tried to work out if there was availability in my area.

After service is OK as well. Two problems in the last seven years have been cleared up quickly.

TT&T is the way to go.......

  11. I have noticed that suddenly, in most ATM's the most that they will allow withdrawn in one transaction is 20,000 Baht.

Does anyone know a Bank/ATM In Pattaya that allows 30,000 Baht withdrawal in 'One-Go'?

I wouldn't stake my life savings on this but I am sure there are 1 or 2 ATM in town that allow 30k withdrawal, I have used them then realised after I could have withdrawn more, cant remember which ones they were though, as over the years I have probably used every machine in Pattaya, remebering not that long ago there were only 2 in Pattaya.

Yes, I think maybe a foreign bank ATM; but I am certain that one of the ATM's in Carrefour on Pattaya Klang does.

  15. This is stating the obvious, but why no just do two transactions.

It also depends on the limit set on your card. Most Thai banks automatically set the limit at 20k. It's easy to raise it.

Thanks, but I have a 50K limit. I just would like to know the ATM's that are mechanically and electronically able to produce 30K upon request.

  19. I have never had a problem at the airport, but I have always been served by young women. I recommend dealing with women in future, I believe that they are less likely to pull a stunt like that.

On the same subject; the double-count note trick is alive and well in Pattaya, most recently at the 7-11 next door to Yorkies. The huge ladyman employee in there has it so well perfected she/he must make hundreds every day.

Decomposed Body Found Hanging from Tree.

On Tuesday night police from Banglamung station were called to a remote location in Huay Yai sub-district where they made the grisly discovery of a decomposed body hanging by electrical cable from a tree.

Judging from the decomposed state of the corpse, the male had been dead for at least two months and police are suspecting foul play. The deceased, aged about 25 but currently unidentified, had his hands bound in front of his body with duct tape, a situation which tends to make suicide rather difficult.

The first task of officers is to identify the body and then make further inquiries.
