Having blocked the OP a week ago, I'm at a bit of a loss as to what this thread is about. I'm hoping this has nothing to do with a mob hit or a driveby on a restaurant.
I suppose, "in this day and age" anything is possible.

I've used them twice in Bangkok to ship envelopes to Canada.
Is there a shortage of envelopes in Canada?

This topic is annoying me. Has no one read the Affidavit? It says, and I shall quote mine:
"I also affirm that I receive a monthly income of $_________________ from sources in the United States.
There is nothing there about retirement income or social security income. It can be any type of income. If I clip coupons on municipal bonds once a year and divide it by 12 months, then it's still an accurate statement.

I still wonder how you prove that the 65k baht is from your home country. Foreign transfers aren't always clear in some bank books.
And not free.

Never any problems in Bangkok.
But last time I flew to Canada Canada could not give me boarding pass from Chins to Bangkok. In China I was called to airline desk and told they may not let me go because I did not have a return flight to Canada.I told them I was retired and on visa extension. They still seemed unwilling to give me my boarding pass. So I had to show them all my past extensions in passport and present extension they finally said ok.
Why is it their business in the first place?

Why on earth would you expect Thais to learn English to make your life easier? You are in Thailand. People speak Thai here, not English. It is one of the difficulties of living in a foreign country where you don't speak the language. You came to live here, they didn't;t beg you to come here. Learn to speak Thai.
English is the Universal Language of the world. It's the language of medicine and aviation, and I'm sure a few other professions. In America we find translators to help our visitors navigate things such as border crossings.
Perhaps we are just more evolved.

There is no free single entry tourist visas that have to applied for at an embassy or consulate.
I tell my young son that nothing is free, whether it states it or not.
Not surprised.

I have lived here on and off for 13 years. I have never been questioned.

As an American I can say that what happened in Vietnam and Cambodia, was not our proudest moment. To this day, the US is still living the nightmare of the atrocity it committed in this region. And for what? The fight against communism? Did anyone really think we could beat the Vietnamese, in guerrilla warfare, that took place in their own jungles? It was a war based on hubris, disinformation, profiteering, defense industry lobbying, Johnson's misguided notions, and McNamara's insane illusions. He spoke of that in the Fog of War, and more or less admitted what a mistake the entire campaign was.
At least Thailand benefitted from it. At least something decent came out of it all. As an American, I can say that the Vietnam war, is one of the most shameful events to take place in my lifetime. Frankly, I am not sure if the US has been engaged in a single "righteous" war since WWII.
That is the question. No veteran, no one from that time, can tell me why we (The USA) was involved in Vietnam and Laos. No one can answer that question.

Of course, we have. Just ask the Iraquis or the Japanese.

Why has no one mentioned a year extension of stay based on taking care of a Thai? The OP said he had a child. There is no seasoning for the 400,000b. He might be able to borrow the money long enough to put it in a bank and get a bank letter.

It must be sad to be a cog in the government wheel etching out any power you can find. Harassing citizens and non-immigrants turns into a sport. There is a huge difference between the professionalism exhibited in Bangkok vs Pattaya Immigration.
The last marriage extension for me was at Jomtien in 2008 and they were inventing new requirements back then. Why do they play these games everywhere but Bangkok?

I see you found an immigration officer who has been through the new hospitality training being rolled out slowly throughout Thailand.

As a consumer are you put off by having to pay 1% fee to pay by a visa machine in a shop? Would you shop elsewhere to avoid having to pay this fee in the future?
It's against your TOS with VISA/Mastercard.
No one likes paying a fee. Why should we?
I will help you.
Stop charging a surcharge fee. Offer a discount for cash.

You're correct. Works out perfectly, so long as CW immigration accepts it at the end of June.

My stay until date is July 15. It is based on retirement.
How many days max before the July 15 date, can I apply. I will get an income affidavit from the American Embassy on the last day of December. If it is good for 6 months that means I have to apply 1.5 months before my stay until date.
Is that possible?

Lol. I suspect you are right.
Perhaps I shall delay the new overseas visa and travel on the passport with the Thai visa in. Seems to be the safest option.
Never volunteer information to cops unless you are asked. And even if you are asked, you better know what you will give as an explanation.

Would it be best to explain thhe situation to the Immigration officer on arrival? Is there a chance I can be denied entry? Or should I make a trip to immigration to explain that my primary passport is getting processed for renewal of a work visa overseas?
Are you out of your mind? Keep your mouth shut and smile.

Was not in my reading but perhaps was what you mean. Way I read it is the money could also be in his home country bank account as was posted to extension of stay question. And that is not true.
We were discussing getting an OA visa. You can't get it in Thailand so money would have to be in your home account. From experience, all the paperwork required for the OA is onerous at best.

He was asking about extension of stay and money must be in Thailand.
Home bank accounts are only accepted for O-A visas - not for immigration extension of stays issued in Thailand.
Isn't that what I wrote?

First of all, stop the nonsense, all of you. The child is a Thai citizen. A Thai citizen can't be an over overstayer, and can't be thrown out of the country. So all this hand-wringing is a complete waste of time.
I wouldn't waste my time trying to fix an obvious error as if the Sword of Damocles was going to fall and cut off all our heads.. I'll say it again the child is a Thai citizen.
I don't give a damn whether somebody scowls or yells they can't do a damn thing to a Thai citizen who has every right to be in his own country.
And it's the same thing for an American citizen in America. Sometimes Customs likes to ask questions and they'll tell you that they won't admit you until you answer their questions will guess what as an American citizen I don't have to answer any questions and I can't be denied entry into my own country.
