I've met so many Thai English teachers with a BA in English yet they can't even begin to talk with me in English. I've had many Thais that study English as their degree program that the teacher can't speak English and 80% or more of the entire course is strictly grammar so they have little to no vocabulary and have no idea at all how to communicate. Yes that's all through a barely understandable Google translate conversation.

Despite now being back in the US if was a nice read. I at first from the title thought you went crazy but while reading the title all made sense. Yes despite being moved back to the US i still have some friends back in thailand and my wife. If ekamai to pra khanong BTS why not just walk. It's like 5-10 min walk. But depending where in pra khanong impossible could be only 40 baht as the starting price is 35. I could see around 40 baht just from BTS to BTS on sukumvit because of traffic. If it really is BTS to BTS then the real problem is the forienger is too lazy to spend a few mins walking. Unfortunately we don't know where in ekamai picked up and where in pra khanong dropped off at. But 50 baht dose not sound unreasonable for that area for that distance based on traffic.
