But of the 11 channels mentioned, many were dropped at the end of last year - so it seems unlikely they're talking about another 11 channels?

Last year True drop these 6 channels : HBO, Cinemax HBO, HBO Family, HBO Signature, HBO Hits, Red by HBO and Cinemax,

Do you see any of them in the list of 11 posted higher up in the thread?

No they are dropping 17 channels in total

So six of the eleven 'dropped' channels were dropped at the end of last year, but "Ms Supinya said that committee had not yet allowed True Visions to stop airing the 11 channels"?  She must have missed that six have already been dropped?

True are now saying they are going to drop another five channels?

Now true are saying that they drop another 11 channels, in addition to the 6 they dropped end last year.

Well, this is getting just ridiculous.   Appears True is going to delete the majority of the foreign channels.    I guess foreign TV is not wanted in the little Thailand universe.   Plus, foreign channels shows Thais the world outside of Thailand....current government will secretly applaud True's move.

How about the move was encouraged by the current government?

I think it's quite obvious for some years already where CP's interests lay.

    Kodi is great!

I cancelled TrueVisions a couple of weeks ago after they dropped the HBO channels and Cinemax, bought an Android box with Kodi installed, and have been a happy camper ever since!

Would not consider ever returning to TrueVisions... there is so much out there and it's so much better (and cheaper).

No doubt you're happy with your decision.

By the way,  I'll pass by this afternoon to update your Kodi build.

Honda , Thailand must have finally got their new parts from the Airbag company

So now they can repair the affected vehicles. In Canada, I finally got the Accord fixed in December 2016,

as it took that long for Honda to get the new parts and software updates to fix the problem.

It is not always the companies like Honda, Toyota or Ford that are to blame, but the companies

that make the airbag systems, and such.

    Geezer

The reason it took that long is because in total 85.000.000 had to be recalled worldwide, as Takata supplies the airbags to almost every Japanese car manufacturer.

    Unseen Thailand

Try using google before making such an inaccurate statement. Then you will see that several Arab nations are taking in more refugees than any Western Nation. For example Lebanon and Jordan also Turkey which is Muslim if not Arab. These nations are getting little if any financial help from the West.

Your comments are very prejudiced and ill informed.

First of all it is their problem ( the Muslim world) so they should solve it theirselves.

As for Turkey not receiving financial help, I suggest you use Google yourself on that one, as you suggest to another poster.

But anyway, why would those nation need to receive financial help from the west, did they ever help the west?

The fact that most refugees are young single men who should really be at home fighting for a better life for their families but who have instead chosen to flee and become economic migrants, IMO they should to be sent back home.

No, just more nonsense. The TVF Poster Looking Not Buying rule has been invoked from the beginning and in recent years the Chinese Don't Spend. I've quoted elsewhere a quarterly report from CPN verifying that they do spend, no matter what ignorant, bigoted TVF posters claim.

You pretend to be more knowledgeable than any other poster on this forum about economics, malls and whatever else, but you fail to understand that CPN figures have nothing to do with Chinese spending or not spending?

Central get their revenue from the shop leases, not from customer spendings, and many of the shops in Central are part of nationwide chains and have long leases.

For those shops name recognition also plays a part in the reason why they have a branch in there.

So if customers don't spend, even for a few years in a row, that doesn't mean they will close the loss making shop, and it means even less that CPN's revenue will get a dent.

If you really want to know how business is in Thailand, take a taxi to some of the other Central or Tukcoms in Chonburi or Rayong. But I understand from your posts, the furthest you have ever travelled in Thailand is between beach road Pattaya and Sukhumvit, and the occasional trip to the airport.

I can post pictures here from I took at Central and Tukcom Chonburi end of December 2016, but you're gonna excuse to ridicule them any way, I'm sure.

Now please tell us why the ice rink and fitness first in Harbor, which without doubt would be completed by the end of 2016 according to your previous posts ridiculing other posters, haven't been materialized as of end of January 2017.

No you didn't, not any more than all the other constructions you "know" will fail, like CentralFestival.

Central Festival is really your showpiece to make your point, isn't it? Probably because it is the ONLY more or less successful mall in Pattaya, but actually because there are many people inside joying the free aircon and have nothing else to do doesn't necessary means it is a success.

Why are you so quiet about Harbor these days, which would also do very well according to you, while everyone with just a little business sense knew it would fail? And yes it failed already.

How is the ice rink and fitness first doing in Harbor these days?

    What about The Bay?

And how you think Central Beach will fare once Terminal 21 opens? Yes it will be as dead as Harbor, The Avenue and The Bay.

Subaru make some good quality cars.  I was shocked when I saw the price of a WRX here in Thailand and even more shocked seeing these parked in the "Supercar Parking" at Central Plaza (How the hell are these supercars?).  Building them here should mean a massive price drop as they will no longer be imported or subject to that tax. That has to be a positive.

Who said the WRX will be assembled here?

I've run into a little hitch fitting my sensors. On one side of the gate I will probably need to take power from a nearby light running at 230V. Since the beam only takes 24V or 12V I'm looking for a small step down transformer that can be neatly concealed in a little box.

Can anyone make any recommendations. It only needs 25mA and most of the transformers I find online provide a lot more. I'm looking for a enclosed, waterproof ip66 transformer.

Would any of these be suitable?:

So you consider this a fair and equal contest and an acceptable way to settle the issue?

Maybe I could accept "a few slaps" and some humiliation but a trained fighter repeatedly kicking a person's head this way is very uncivilised and dangerous in my opinion.

A trained fighter? You just made this up, didn't you, or do you have other info than posted in the OP?

As several posters already pointed out, a trained fighter looks quite different from what is shown in that video.

You do notice that after the supposed beating had finished, the lady in the couch calmly started to put her hair together.

You think she would have been able to do that if a trained fighter had attacked her?

Do you have something with your eyes? I don't see a fight. Only that one woman kick a lot of times the head from another.

    A fight is something other!!!

So if in a UFC the challenged party refuses to defend himself it isn't a fight, but rather an assault, right?

Did the mia noi think the wife was there for a game of cards? Weren't there enough signs prior that a fight would occur?

Because the other party is a coward who refuses to defend herself doesn't make the challenger an assaulter.

It sounds like this box is obsolete before I start.

Well it was discounted on Lazada from 8,800 baht down to 1,880 baht so I guess you get what you pay for.

I noticed another box on the Lazada site: this one.

It is running Android Lolipop 5.1 so I assume that will last longer than 1 year?

It has been discounted from 12,500 baht down to 2,380 baht so seems like a good deal.

I could return the soon-to-be-obsolete box and use the refund as a deposit on the new box.

    Thoughts?

By the way, I watched the Kodimaster webpage video on the repo build and tried to install it.

I followed the instructions to the letter but it appears that the version of Kodi used in the video is not quite the same as the version I downloaded yesterday, but I did manage to find where the commands were within Kodi File Manager.

I managed to add the Kodimaster repo as a source, install from zipfile, install from repository, and enable the Kodimaster Wizard as a program addon.

However when I exit to the Main Menu and select Programs, the Kodimaster Wizard is not listed so I cannot select a build.

    Any suggestions?

BTW @Allstars I will send you a PM separately but thought that my questions and the answers you guys have been giving may provide other members of the forum some useful advice as well.

    Thanks.

That box is better but also old technology, and Amlogic doesn't support Android 5.1 on the S812 platform, reason also why Minix X8 H Plus  which has the same processor also not get updated. So the firmware on that box is modified by the box manufacturer but not supported by the processor manufacturer.

Look for a box with a S905 processor with Android 5.1. Try to avoid S905X as it is a cheaper version of the S905, not really a bad choice, but the latter is preferable. The only advantage the S905X has is that it can handle 4K movies but, however there are a few addons that have a small selection of 4K movies, we are still along way from streaming 4K movies in Thailand.

Some will say look for a S912 box with Android 6, as that is the very latest, but very much of those boxes have still firmware bugs.

Oh and don't fall for that discount trick, because those boxes have never costed that even near that kind of money

Appreciate any comments (both negative and positive).

If it's only going to be useful as a door-stopper then I'd rather not waste any more time on it and get something that actually works.

Well today is going to be my research day.

My wife and I like our movies, so my thoughts are that Exodus on Kodi, plus Mobdro, plus YouTube will be all we're likely to need.

I'll spend some time today on Google and YouTube to try to find the latest reviews on where and how to install and operate them.

Someone mentioned earlier Builds and Add-ons for Kodi.

What is the difference? How do they work and what do they do? Do they work independently of each other or are they integrated?

    Any recommendations?

It has 2Gb RAM, which should be sufficient, however as I said in my other post it has a Rockchip RK3288 processor. Rockchip has never been supported by Kodi because Rockchip didn't want to provide the source to the Kodi developers.

SPMC, which is a fork of Kodi, has supported Rockchip for some time in the past, but also discontinued that almost a year ago.

I suspect the box get also pretty warm. I have a identical box still laying around here from which the CPU melted down. It was my very first box I ever purchased, just to give you an idea how outdated it is.

As I said previously, and which was confirmed by another poster, the Android 4.4 will make it a door stop only in less than a year from now, because you can not update Kodi on KitKat.

You have 14 days after delivery to return the box, and receive a full refund from Lazada, so my advice would be to return it if you still can.

Regarding your question about addon and builds.Exodus is an example of an addon. What is called an app in Android is called an addon in Kodi. An addon has to be installed manually, a build is a compilation of addons, and also has to be installed manually. Of course a build is the easy way when you just start with Kodi, but most builds are too heavy, because they contain too many addons that you will never use.

The secret to a good working box is to preserve as much system memory as possible.

You can always PM me as I can put you in the right direction

    Guys,

Please can you help for those of you who are reasonably tech savvy.

I recently got a Kodi box which was supposed to come fully loaded and I am having a few problems which I will mention. I can go easily get movies and TV shows and these also update regularly with no issues.

I can get music etc etc. My problem occurs when I try to get Sky sports channels. It initially opens then quickly asks me for a passcode saying my contract expired in October 2016. I never had any contract so this must be the person who originally set it up.

Is there no way round to watch this for free? Or is this subscription only? The guy who got it for me told me there were plenty of other ways to get into Sky sports but I am obviously not clever enough to do this.

Also, I am wanting to get rid completely of True but my problem has always been my other half likes to watch Thai channels sometimes. I am in the dark regards this iptv system, as I am not that up to date. I can work my way reasonably well on a computer, but I mainly use it for e mails, FB, downloading from torrents etc.

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect

Almost every sports channel in the world can be watched for free on Kodi, but it takes some effort to find the better quality stream, and during peak periods there will be issues with buffering. Simply because the free servers get overloaded at those times.

If you want to watch buffer free sports and virtually every live tv channel in the world you will need to purchase a subscription.

Such a full year subscription cost you less than 3 months true and works 99% of the time without buffer, taken in account that you have a reasonable internet connection of course, but you don't need a 50 Mb fiber for that.

For that money you get more than 1000 channels which include all the major European countries as well as USA and Canada.

Some great answers and knowledgeable advice from you guys... thanks very much.

I tried clearing the cache and data, but the system just hung completely so I uninstalled it completely then reinstalled a fresh version from the Google Play store.

The menu system now works fine so I'll check out Exodus (and where to get it and install it) on YouTube tomorrow (too late now).

BTW, the box delivered by Lazada is the same as that advertised here

Thanks everyone for your help... will advise progress and seek further advice from you good gents tomorrow.

    Cheers.

The box you got LOOKS the same as the one in the link you posted, but there are many boxes that look identical but have different specs.

Why don't you post a link to the listing on Lazada, so we see exactly what you got.

My guess, going by the symptoms you describe, is that it is a 1Gb Ram box with a RK 3288 processor and that it gets pretty hot.

If this is correct you better try to return if still possible, and purchase a better spec one, because it never gonna work properly.

Feel free to send me a pm for some help and advice free of charge.

By the way, all boxes with that look have Android 4.4.2 as operating system and will be useless before the end of the year, since the latest Kodi 17 which was released on 30 December requires Android 5.1 or higher.

The operating system can not be upgraded, so expect that before the end of this year all addons will stop working in Kodi 16.1, since the developers will not support Kodi 16.1 any more.

Your timer requires 220V AC to pins 1and 2 to work its electronics.

Pins 3, 4 and 5 are isolated contacts which you can use to switch pretty much any voltage you want. As noted use 3 and 5 to switch the 12V output of your transformer, but read my note about electronic transformers.

You may wish to find an electrician to perform this job.

I think I have no problem to perform the job myself in a safe way, as I have done most of the electrical modifications so far by myself and I have studied electrics, but that was more than 40 years ago and I've never worked as an electrician.

My problem is that I don't understand how relays and timer switches work.

So if I understand correctly now.

I go with my mains live and neutral to pin 1 and 2.

Then with pin 3 and 5 do I feed my transformer, and from the transformer output I go to the lamps in the same way as I now do?

What you mentioned about the transformer not liking the load switching, would that be an issue in this case.
