  1. US citizens have needed a visa to go to Vietnam. 8 years ago it was on arrival, expensive and (for US citizens) good for a year of multiple entry. Now it's 30 days, obtainable online before you travel. Just did an evisa for vietnam this month. Last year they took 3 days, this one took 7 days for approval. Your cards might have been rejected as they weren't enabled to be used in Vietnam? Did you use the official website? http://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/ Mike
  2. Life is not a riddle to be solved, but a journey to be enjoyed
  3. Same thing happened to me this year after my 7th retirement extension of an OA visa at Phetchaburi immigration in Cha-am. . It went quick and pleasant at immigration, as I have learned what papers they need to see and bring them. But this year, as I was waiting for my visa to get stamped in, they asked me to draw them a map to my home. This was a first. And 6 days later two officers came to my home, unannounced, as I was just leaving. They wanted a photo of me inside and also outside my home by the mailbox. Maybe they would have called me if I had not been home. -They only wanted me to open the door and step inside the doorway, they were not interested to go into my house. BTW For my monthly income verification, they want to see the WISE transfer statements, and also my USA bank monthly statements showing the corresponding amount going out. And of course my SCB statement showing it coming in.
  4. BKKSPEED has 4 SHOPS IN BKK and sells Shoei. Check the manufacture dates as many hrlmet shops have a large stock of old helmets.
  5. Try Bangkok Tactical in Gaysom shopping mall andThe Tank Storea, cross the road in Centralworld.
  6. Had the full series (5 shots) after a dog bite here, and 13 years later had to get two boosters after a monkey scratched me. You don't have to be bitten to get rabies. It can enter through the eyes, mouth, nose or open wound no matter how small. Could get it from an animal licking your hand and then touching these with your hand, or from flung saliva from the animals mouth. The vaccine is best for people who regularly work with wild or feral animals, where this could type of contact could happen and they wouldn't know it. It offers some protection.
  7. I bought a Yaris with 7k on the clock 2.5 years ago. came with new Dunlop Enesave ec300 tires on it, now at 57000k, and should last this next rainy season. No hydroplaning, good grip, and seem quiet, but can't compare to anything else. I'll buy these again when they wear out.
  8. The best way to get rid of ants that I found is boric acid. (this is a powder, and what is in Borax detergents for washing laundry)It's also used as a fire retardant in some mattresses. It is non-toxic to pets or kids in the amounts used, and kills ants in their nests, not just the ants out scavenging. The ant traps that you can buy some places with a liquid in them, are using boric acid solution. Chemipan Corp in Bangkok sells it online....Line ID is @chemipan Email is [email protected] I ordered a kilo online 6 years ago (the company information is also 6 years old) and it was delivered via post all for about 350 baht. There is still have more than half of the kilo left and a I gave a ton of it away. You must mix it as close to exactly at a ratio of 1 to 10, boric acid to jam or honey. (1/4 cup jam is 12 teaspoons, so mix it with 1.2 teaspoons of boric acid) Too much will kill the ant before it gets back to the nest and too little will not kill all the ants. It must be crushed or ground fine as the chunks will not dissolve not matter how tiny they are, which makes the solution weakened. Then put the mixture in water bottle caps where you see ants, and shortly they will find it and send a signal for the rest of the ants to come collect it, taking it back to the nest. In a few hours to a day the ants are gone. I won't use this outside, as ants are useful in nature, but inside my house ants are fair game . The chalk, powder and spray only affect the ants you see, unless you can locate the nest. They are all toxic to humans also. You can google the story about the elderly couple and the two young 20-something-year-old women who all died in their sleep at the same hotel in Chiang Mai, within a short time frame, from "heart attack", but which was finally attributed to insecticides.
  9. We one bought one online from Powerbuy, on sale. They installed it free of charge and you schedule the installation during checkout process. Took only 5 days to deliver/install.
  10. Useful information if looking for a quality helmet. https://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/
  11. Level one, gate 8 has some seating places outside, close enough to take some luggage. Exit the gate (door) and go to your left. There is a 7-11 there and places to sit, also a smoking area. To reach gate 8, when on level one, it is all the way to your left when you are facing the outside of the airport. Level one gate 8 is also where you can get busses to Hua Hin or Pattaya and Koh Chang
  12. We went to Hanoi a few weeks ago. Depending what country you're from and your length of stay you need no visa, or only an Evisa. No masks required anywhere, even on the plane or going thru immigration. We flew Thai Smile air.
  13. Birds don't like stickiness on their feet. Many of the commercially available products are liquids/ gels which keep roosting or perching areas sticky. Maybe there's a homemade version on the internet.
