The guy is dead. Your info seems wrong

Read-would have been killed had he not been stopped!.  The Soi 6 guy is dead which I'm well aware of.

Nope! the starbuck thugs looked anything but criminals, no tatts well dressed and in their 40's.

We shall see. Reading the detail about the attack i doubt they are regular Starbuck types

  3. Well, let's hope the first of the 'uncharted legal waters' 100+ challenges, is the the idiotic 'pork barreling' of the Canberra public servants $26+ million forced move of the APVMA department to his electorate.

Only 11 of 216 staff accepted the move with no option than to resign or apply within other departments. But no worries for him, he's not moving his family out of their homes and schools, nor did he, when he went to Canberra! and explaining away the cost of the move as the same as building the fence around Parliament House. How can he be taken seriously.

Can't see Turnbull visiting the offices in Armidale whilst he's holding the portfolio either.

    Interesting days ahead.

Do you really think that a first world country allows people to import drugs by mail willynilly, even if for "personal use"?

    He was breaking the law.

The only stupidity here is yours.  And your racism is blatent.

Never had a problem shipping in medication to a first world country. If it's 50% cheaper I'm sure you would be with the zillions that do.

Are they supposed to notify me that they have the package or do I just go on the tracking info?   I take it they won't be replying to my email.

It was suggested I should have had it shipped in a friends Thai name. That being the case then it's obviously ok to ship  in medication...correct? This stinks.

I have never had an issue with shipping vitamins here I have a cupboard full and never had a problem in Australia or the U.K. shipping in medication.

I have tried countless pharmacies in pattaya for champix, always- "no have" nor, a suggestion as to where I can get them (that'd be expecting too much).

I am going the champix way because I have a cousin, a chronic smoker who recently underwent a successful double lung transplant - the surgeons prescribed her champix which worked, the first week was the hardest. She had to be 2 years clean before she was able to register for the transplant.

I admit, I enjoy a cigarette and at my age something's going to get me sooner rather than-and it probably won't be the cigarettes..Murphy's law. At least I attempted to get clean.

    Thanks for your input guys.

  6. I ordered medication online and have been trying to track it as it has been over a month which is unusual for my previous deliveries.

It has been located in Customs.

I haven't received any notification of this.

The medication consists of  HRT  60 tablets which is difficult to find here and Champix x 30 tablets (MIMS Thailand 'anti smoking classification}.

I Emailed them with tracking and stating I urgently needed the medication.

Do Customs have to notify you they have your shipment and for what reason they have it.

Will I have to pay duty.

and will I have to go to BKK.

It doesn't matter if you tie the knot or not, defacto partners still get half the pot of honey.  What I find objectionable is the one size fits all legal system. Which is based on no-fault, by the way.

So according to you, someone who sits on their backside during 20 or 30 years of marriage with all the modern accoutrements should be rewarded for a life of ease. My former wife slotted herself back into the workforce quite readily when she had to.

My son was wholly supported by me through university, and I contributed quite substantially to his purchase of a house. I suppose it's easier to generalize than admit circumstances vary.

So, I take it your University educated Son will be moving a Thai wife in OR moving to Thailand?

    Not to Australia.

Correct, but I was in the outpatient section of a major hospital recently when a chinese woman came in complaining of a severe ear ache and was told it would cost her $360 to see a Dr but if she could hold out until the morning she could see a Dr for $75 at one of the health centres. She opted for the later. It would also be applicable to a Thai visitor. You have to bear the burden of any medical costs associated with your partner.

On the advice to applicants when applying for a RETIRED (O-A visa) for  on form "A" from the Royal Thai Embassy in Australia (Canberra).  To find out about what is required you look under the heading "Retirement Visa"  After you study it all up yes you realise you are applying for O-A visa.

This is just another example of frivolity.  I just love that word.  Oh! and you can only apply for a "Thai Retirement Visa" at a Royal Thai Embassy not a Consul.

I had exactly the same experience, you couldn't make it up. My Dr was amused and the J.P. astounded. I had to visit the Embassy 3 times for the usual 'no have income statement signed' even though it was on a government letter head. Another phone call 'no have bank statement' even though the income letter was well in excess of the required amount. Then the JP forgot to sign (1) copy the police report.

By this time I was well and truly over it and turned up and told her the JP wasn't available for 2 days and forget everything and give me a SETV and she said okay collect it in 3 days.

Getting the O visa in Jomtien was not much better, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're prepared to 'pay' which I did.

Suffice to say it was worth it. I now have the 'O' and retirement extension (15 months). The cost wasn't what you were

'quoted. Lol!  It would have been painless and cheaper to just take a trip to penang..hindsight...

Whilst I was in the Embassy a courier arrived to pick up some diplomatic passports..yep! someone hadn't signed something..beggars belief.

  10. On the left of the Immigration building there is a Visa service that will fill out all the paperwork, photocopies and take photographs for a small fee of 200 baht. Just turn up with your passport, departure card and Embassy letter. They do the rest.

Oh, and a copy of your lease/address paperwork.

  11. Also read that the embassy now requires proof of income for the Statuary Declaration.  Could someone advise if this is correct.

@ skeedary..Once you receive your Stat Dec you have to then take it to be Notarized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -Chaeng Wattana.

You need to be at CW before 9.30 AM to lodge your document if you require same day service otherwise it is back to collect it after 2.30 PM the next day. _____

There is the option of having it mailed to you if you didn't want to hang around. I suggest you inform the desk when lodging that you wish to take this step....they do not offer 'suggestions'.

I wasn't asked for 'proof of income' last week although I had it on hand..it took 5 min.

This is the form you need to send in.

Also a copy of the passport photo page, visa page and I included the departure card.

    Sign the copies.

Another funny little thing. The immigration officer came out to the house today to take photos of himself and us together.

Last year I was told I should change shirts in the pictures.

This year he said they wouldn't need a follow up visit if the wife also changed shirts.

    Very Pythonesque :-)

Thanks for that. I have to have two certified copies done 1) for Non O Visa  2) Retirement extension (not visa.. lol)  All this paper work had to be also signed by a JP in Australia, that being...police report, medical certificate, income statement. In saying that, the JP was very amused. I made the error of NOT getting the Retirement extension in Canberra as both the Retirement and Non O came with multiple entries which I didn't require.  beggars belief.

    I'd stay away from Canberra..

Ok, little update from the exciting 14 hour trip to Chaeng Wattana.

Handed all the documents in and paid and was told to return at 2:30.

There is basically squat to do there so I showed up at the designated counter at 2 hoping to get the stamped letter a little early. Since we had up to a 5 hour trip back home.

Nobody waiting at the counter, but was told to come back at 2:30.

When I came back, just in time to hear my name called, there was between 100-150 people queued up.

Anyway, that gave me time to go and talk to a very nice information lady who took a lot of trouble to help.

She dug up a paper that said that I could mail the documents in with a 400 baht processing fee and 60 baht to cover postage, so hopefully this is my last trip there.

Given that it is, apparently, only 2 days to get the letter mailed, in retrospect I should have just paid 60 baht and went back home immediately.

This, of course, is in direct contradiction to what I was told last year at the local immigration office and by a not so nice information lady at Chaeng Wattana who told me I could have them mailed out but I had to show up in person to have them processed.

But, good to know if they can manage to stick by the same rules for a full year.

I'll try to post a photo of the form tomorrow.

Right now, its a cold brew and bed.

I was there last week and found the experience traumatic. Are you saying, that we can 'Mail In' our Embassy verification document and have it returned by EMS?  If this is correct then I'm excited. For those that haven't had to experience this requirement, you should be ever so thankful.
