I don't see SRT or the Government shafting CP or a Chinese backer. There is an entire new board at SRT, hand picked by the Government. Time will tell.

You still don't seem to understand. It is not a matter of the CP Group not being shafted by the SRT or the government. It is a matter of unintended incompetence and intended corruption by the SRT.

The government is responsible for the debt and mismanagement by the SRT. When it comes to money they will come to the defence of the SRT first and let the other parties hang out to dry whether they be Thai or otherwise. That is what is happening right now with Hopewell and they were a reputable Chinese company.

Yes, time will tell. It took 8 years for Hopewell to find out what the SRT were really like; incompetent and corrupt to the core. Even Prayut had to sack the Board of Directors (who were hand picked by the government) they were that bad.

Well CP are Thai, as are some other members of their multinational consortium. Is it unreasonable to say that CP already enjoy an enduring, close and mutually beneficial relationship with the Government?

One thing seems to have escaped you. The supposed mutually beneficial working relationship is with the incompetent and corrupt SRT. Notwithstanding the fact that the government is equally incompetent in it's own right.

You know the SRT? The same useless SRT that is the subject of this very topic. I doubt there is any company, Thai or otherwise, that could survive a business relationship with the SRT.

In fact I would be delighted to see CP and their Chinese partners do their money cold by getting mixed up with the SRT. It could very easily be a replay of Hopewell.

SRT to file civil case against Hopewell over foreign company qualifications

While all this nonsense is going on the interest meter is still ticking. Hopewell were awarded 11.88 billion baht plus 13 billion in interest at 7.5% since the project started. So the interest bill now is in excess of the original penalty and is still going up while these fools play their legal games.

7.5% p.a. interest on the current total debt of nearly 30 billion is a tidy sum to be accumulating while they find excuses not to pay.

The most notable of these is investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), for which a budget of Bt17 billion has been set aside.

17 Billion for Salesman Somkid's EEC global roadshows (junkets) to try to find someone....anyone, to invest in Prayut's EEC dream. Even warring tinpot dictatorship countries like Turkey are welcome.

Things are getting really desperate. General Apirat hasn't helped by putting the coup cat among the pigeons and possibly scaring potential investors away.

Not one word?????   "The airline’s president Sumet Damrongchaitham said the first step will be to restructure THAI’s management and finances as well as reconsider its plan to spend Bt1.5 billion on 38 new aircraft."

Get real????? .....Restructuring means restructuring; it is just a shake up, not a shake out! It does not mean they get rid of the management deadwood. It simply means they rearranged the deckchairs on this sinking ship by reappointing existing management to different positions. Or rearranging the feeding positions around the trough if you prefer

Naivety seems to have struck you down.....do you seriously believe the existing incompetent management will be sacked and just walk away, they are a protected species????? This is a Thai state run government enterprise we are talking here; not a 100% private owned company.

Hence, he said, the “Eat, Shop, Spend” campaign is worth the investment and even though the system is unstable,

An unstable cashless society is just what the country needs.

It's pretty much reached that point already........for 99% it is almost cashless.

And it certainly becoming unstable with the likes of General Apirat running around shooting his mouth off about coups and "hybrid" enemies.

Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.

In the past 5 years males have represented 69% of all fatalities, 65% of serious injuries yet only 48% of minor injuries.

If only woman drive, less people will die. Sure.

Every country the same. What is wrong the man brain?

    An interesting observation.

Since the subject matter is the road toll in Thailand your closing question should rather be:

....."what is wrong with Thai man/child brain?"

There was a very brief reference... Maybe you didn't catch it...  :clap2:

I did catch that but couldn't bring myself to believe they were referring to all the useless luminaries and freeloaders; and I still can't.

I thought they were were referring to ancillary services like the mothering of VIP passengers through immigration, aircraft washing, ramp services and even cargo services. But perhaps you are right.

Government and Opposition brace for budget bill showdown

The Opposition are pussycats. They will be squashed like flies.

Why aren't they out knocking down the doors of the media to get their message out about their budget proposals and how they would improve the country? Too busy at the trough I suspect.

Even Thanathorn seems to spend his time grandstanding rather than staying at home and pushing opposition policies on road safety, health, education, corruption and domestic matters.

The opposition have lost the plot. Perhaps because there has never been an opposition before and they don't know what to do.
