Great, nothing else to do my wife and her friends laff about this just shake their heads.

I mistakenly thought (only for one moment) that maybe the PM Prayut had momentarily entered his second childhood. Then I realised that was unlikely and it was more probable he was still in his first.

Sadly for many Thai men their metamorphosis into mature adults never seems to complete properly and they are left partly stranded in their adolescence. Then I wondered if the military and similar services attracts these sort of men.

You can donate directly into her bank account. Read the article again please, then send something. I have.

Very commendable I will do the same to equal value should you care to send a copy of your deposit slip showing the amount you have donated. Redact your name of course leaving clear the deposit account number. Words without supportive evidence come easy on this forum.

  3. Thailand is dangerous! .....Who is spreading these out-of-date vicious lies? .......Are they the same terrible people who are saying Thailand has the second high road toll in the world and has the highest motorcycle death rate. Road travel is not dangerous for us government officials in military escorted chauffeur driven limousines.

Thailand is the safest place in the world because we are always having conferences, discussions, conventions, seminars, forums and summits to discuss safety.

We don't achieve much but at least we talk about it a lot and boost the economy with all those resort bookings and seafood buffet lunches and dinners.

    Government to help rubber planters

We are the government and we are here to help you.

A cautionary note to farmers and exciting news for the middle men. This should be predictably similar to the never ending rice schemes.

We can give you anything you want because we have immunity; unlike the stupid dumbasses before us who weren't cunning enough to think of that. Serves them right that we can now prosecute them in the courts.

  5. Armoured personnel carriers (and tanks) for border protection against invasion from the enemy outside like Laos, Cambodia or Myanmar. Or for civil defence purposes? Take your pick.

Thailand doesn't need protection from outside forces. They will just do what they do best and roll-over so that only leaves civil defence.

Whatever, the military splurge continues with their new best friends China where the purchasing inducements are the best on offer.

This number seems a lot over the top. That would be about 30% of what Thailands rice crop broght in 2016.

Once the world capital of quality rice Thailand rice production is now on a downward spiral. They are sadly sticking to the practices from bygone years.

Thailand has one rice harvest a year but it generally high quality rice. South Vietnam has three harvests while North Vietnam which is cooler has two harvests a year. Their quality is far below that of Thailand.

Volume versus quality is what it all about when it comes to money.

They are not migrants. They are illegal economic refugees

Lighten up SpiderMan. My original comment about health insurance for Rohingyan migrants was intended to be facetious for what I would have thought was obvious reasons. But your above response deserves a reply.

Are these Rohingyan "illegal economic refugees" you refer to the same ones who were encouraged to enter Thailand to escape persecution in Myanmar and start a "new" life? When they arrived they were tortured, held to ransom and then murdered if their families did not pay up. I guess you describe that as economic if you choose.

After they were murdered they were buried in mass graves near the Thai border town of Padang Besar, reportedly with the full knowledge of Thai town officials. For further enlightenment you might care to read this story.

"The Thai government is working to ensure the global community’s correct understanding of the current situations in the violence-torn south"

    The message is clear.

The "global community", being the rest of the world doesn't have a clue what's been going on down there since 2004.

Only Thailand knows and will ram their opinion down the throat of anyone who disagrees with them. So typical of military governments!
