If you writing about getting a 30 day visa exempt entry when you arrive it can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.
That is good news; I have gotten nowhere here in the US dealing with the Thai Embassy in DC; thank you so much....it's only 2 days and the change fee with the air lines is very expensive.

I will over-stay the 30 limit for the tourist visa by 2 days; we will be in Chiang Mai; I am curious if there is a 2-3 day trip out of the country so I can get around applying for the Tourist Visa at the Embassy in DC; i.e., entering and exisitng twice; looking at the map Myanmar may be a possibility, but may not be a good place to visit at this time; has anyone ever done this? Any suggestions?

I will be spending a month in Chiang Mai and would like to meet other English speaking ex pats or travelers while I am there; I live in Mexico part time and here we have a new comers' group, several social events targeted at ex pats, many non profits for volunteering, Rotary, etc. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
