  1. Phew! The rest of the country is safe then...
  2. I added a visa agency Line contact last year, and just got this "info" as part of a promotional message: " ???? Please be remind that you can stay in Thailand with tourist visa type not more than 180 days per year calendar. Let's check your passport asap????????.????‍???? (...)"
  3. Yes, that's why I am planning to go the other way in a few years. Not getting younger, my plan is to reestablish myself back home, then coming back for shorter holidays.
  4. And I doubt that there will be much more protest activity even if Pita is not elected PM. The masses are kept under control...
  5. Imagine the people demonstrating ate more rice! There would be less to export, so, perhaps, Thailand would lose its top rice-export spot, and, consequently, face...
  6. Fits with Thailand's practice to keep imports low...
  7. China has been 'open' for about half a year now, but still there are way less Chinese tourists in Thailand than pre-pandemic.
  8. Probably no demand for their rubber-cheese burgers, so, perhaps, they came up with this PR strategy. Getting rid of all the *+×^*^, if people actually ordered this, as a bonus...
  9. Chuwit is wrong. They found an easier way! No need to overthrow Pita as PM if he doesn't even get elected...
  10. I recently signed up for 'Rabbit LINE Pay', and paid once for a bill. However, suddenly my "Access to your account has been restricted by the service provider..." - Anyone else having such issues with Rabbit Line Pay?
  11. My money is not on Pita... Make no mistake, I wish him well, but I still don't believe that they will let him become PM. At least not today,
  12. They expect around 10 billion tourists, so, basically, everyone on planet Earth travelling 1.5 times each year to Thailand, generating a tourism income of 1 trillion zillion baht, effectively making Thailand the richest place in the galaxy, well 5% of Thailand's population anyway...
  13. I'm sure the dot in 68.5 million was just a little smudge on the original proposal, so, knowing TAT optimism, they are probably expecting 685 million tourists, incl. 500 million or so from China...
  14. Wonder how they managed to traffic the Chinese guy against his will across the border.
  15. I recently stayed for five weeks in Pattaya. While there were a good number of Russians, particularly older ones, I did not hear such screams.
  16. And released from Thailand on good behavior At worst they could put the tourists on a leash, just letting them go on departure day (without their money)...
  17. I was never really convinced that he would become PM only because his party got the highest number of votes. Thai politics is much more complicated than this.
  18. True. A couple decades ago, Thailand and Malaysia were economically on par, but look where economically (and politically) Malaysia is today, and where Thailand (still) is... Perhaps in a few more decades Thailand will be the second-poorest country in ASEAN behind only Myanmar, unless things change politically.
  19. Thailand's problem is that it is in fact ruled and economically controlled by a tiny minority of society, with, additionally, a military that feels free to step in whenever they think it's necessary. And as long as a large part of society is fine with that not much will change.
  20. I stayed at two apartment buildings where the owner did not do the TM.30. Also, thanks to a recent visit to Immigration, I got the impression that some hotels don't do them either.
  21. It depends whether you want to return to Thailand later, or not. I would not overstay in a country that I would want to visit again and, possibly, would require me to apply for visas or visa extensions.
  22. I'm sure tourists will love that! Well, just another way to eliminate overstays; by discouraging people to come...
