  1. So, would you call yourself a criminal, if, say, by accident you overstayed for 3 days in Thailand?
  2. Yes, they did. And Brits (or others) who didn't use the chance to extend their permission of stay are at fault... But calling them "criminals"? I bet this term is not used in Oz.
  3. And they haven't got a clue about the economy. Exports down, but some "experts" from SCB talking about the 'soon recovering Thai baht'! - Yes, the well-to-do need a strong baht for their trips to Switzerland...
  4. Take a wild guess. I would presume that many Brits came to (and stayed in) Thailand over the past five years. If only a tiny minority overstayed, then this would still be a news-worthy number (in Thailand)... Will we see similar headlines about overstayers from China - guess not! Also, as asf6 pointed out, the source might have to do with it as well.
  5. So you prefer transgender?? "Cisgender" sounds a bit like a disease... What's wrong with the good old 'heterosexual'? (I know it's not 100% the same, but I don't feel comfortable to get labelled with 'weird' words, only because a small minority, who feels they are something else than what they actually are, feels more comfortable thanks to such, relatively new, labels...
  6. Establishment probably don't want neither, Shinawatra clan, nor Pita in power. But if they want to stop chaos and further self-enrichment by the former, they won't have another choice but to elect Pita...
  7. They would. (Doesn't mean that they actually will, but I give Pita a 55% chance to become PM at best; certainly under current political conditions.)
  8. Never heard that term before. Anyhow, as a foreigner in Thailand I have it much worse, so, discrimination of Thais by other Thais... (Don't) tell me about it!
  9. Canary Islands? Damn, I guess I'll cross them off my 'To Visit' list. With many able-bodied African men heading for Western Europe, perhaps the countries they came from are worth visiting now...
  10. There has been mention (e.g. by Stickman) that there are fewer food vendors now compared to pre-Covid, so, perhaps, less Thais willing to do this kind of work. (My observation is that, even in other Bangkok areas, food vendors are, on average, much older now than a few years ago.)
  11. Because foreigners are easier pickings? Esp. if the Immigration Bureau is sent to do police work...
  12. LOL. Since when do tourists need work permits?
  13. So, what kind of ... did granny marry, if the relocation made the family's situation so much worse? And what happened to the house and gran's husband?
  14. Especially 'today morning'. Sometimes even tomorrow last night... ????
  15. True. Thais also scam each other. It's in their nature, and authorities just shrug shoulders.
  16. True. The variety of scams keeps me from visiting other locations besides the handful I know and feel comfortable at. And even for those locations, I sometimes don't bother going, as I don't want to worry about getting overcharged or scammed on my holiday. Not to mention that, for these reasons, I don't visit national parks in Thailand, and, nowadays, rarely visit temples or museums.
  17. No, but I've seen something similar done with ice blocks on the road in Thailand. (Since then I've tried to avoid ice in beverages whenever possible...)
  18. I met a family of Chinese quality tourists at a Bangkok mall two years ago. They couldn't find a restaurant there (even though there were dozens), so just in case they had brought their own lunch in tupperware...
  19. Were there any pens (on strings) left to fill out arrival cards, or were they all ripped off (again)?
  20. I can imagine, cause Chinese people, esp. from the mainland seem to love their fat and bones...
  21. Better to eat like Chinese people in the PRC; fatty, very oily food ????, more bones than meat, egg plant as the main vegetable ????, and the (good) lean meat is in the soup ????... When I lived in China years ago, I used to joke that 'I watch the wrong American sitcoms and movies, cause in those, people always order yummy Chinese food', which I could not find in the part of mainland that I lived in. Loved the Chinese food in Hong Kong ????, though...
  22. Not needed for a VFE- or Tourist Visa extension. (And it's of little use if not married, or under 50 years old.)
