  2. I can't help re the eswt, but most people get great relief from the pain of plantar fascitis/heel spurs simply through arch support. I find the best ones are a really inexpensive elastic wrap that slides on and costs about $10 for 2, you can easily find online. Or you can create a similar facsimilie out of an elastic bandage (cut to size and sew or glue together into a tube shape- make sure it is tight enough to give some lift to the arch.).

Some people also find orthotic inserts helpful but of course that's feasible only if you wear closed shoes.

Night splints that keep your foto flexed will also give much relief but some people have trouble sleeping with them on. .

    Sheryl,

Many thanks for your kind words. I have been using orthotics .....in all of my footware for the past 2 years, and more recently heel cups. The inflimation is still there.....I have located an ESWT machine,( @ BNH) and I shall hopefully start this week.

  3. Regarding Extracorporeal shockwave therapy in Thailand,

True it is hard to find an expert, but there is one in Bangkok who is a renowned expert in this field.

Please, please, where can this renowned expert be found in Bangkok; and what is his/her name? ( I have plantar fasciitis + heel spurs). I have had the cortisone shot, had a week of lazer/ ultra sound/ hot packs....and just finished acupuncture twice a week in the past month. All this for minimal pain relief.

  6. [David006,

Thanks for the reply. I cannot get to the link you posted.

Through searches on the net.....1, Blundstone ....on their website....do not recomend resoleing.

2, There is a location in the States that advertises resoleing of Blundstones. I live in Thailand.

3, I have 2 new pairs, received gratefully from Blundstone, (made in Thailand sticker on the inside), but wish to get the old ones resoled here if that is any way possible. They are in perfect nick.......except for the sole meltdown.

  7. 2 Points.

    1. If she was applying as her Son's dependant she did not need any money in the bank. So why pay someone 32,000 Baht for something she could have easily done for free.

    2. I am not sure on the legallity of the service they provided. It would appear that they loaned her the 800,000 Baht to get the Extension and that she in fact has no money . They do not actually go into details on their website.

    Hi,

1, She did not apply as her sons dependent......I shall check with her as to why not.

2, Yes I believe they loaned her the money....albeit for a few minutes. Again ....I shall clarify ahen I see her .

  8. Hello,

Just a few lines to update this thread. The final outcome was that the lady in question was granted a 1 year retirement visa. More interestig was how it was granted. It cost her 32,000 baht through this company : www.thailongstay.co.th and the 800K was covered for her. ( She has very little money herself). In fact her 90 day reporting is done for her.....part of the package.

Thai long stay company also have a banner on the Thai Immigration website. Might be the way to go for a lot of people.

  9. Hello Everybody,

I have been asked for some help/advise with a visa problem. The person resides in the same apartment block as myself. Mabey someone here can help/ advise further.

    The details I have are:

The person is female, Dutch National, 63 years, been a widow for the last 3.5 years.

Accident in 1998 , now an invalid though not in a wheelchair.

She has been in Thailand 14 years on Tourist Visas .....getting medical certs from Immigration based doctor. ( 2 months in Hong Kong.....then 3 momths Thailand)

Is fully supported ( rent /food ) by 2 sons.....1 here in Bkk.....( has w/p related visa)...the other in Hong Kong.....soon moving to Beijing.

On her last arrival 2 weeks ago she was granted 30 days visa only.

My first advise was for her to apply for a Retirement Visa.....and she has indicated that 800,000 is way beyond her reach. Can anyone here offer some advise that she could follow up on?

    Many thanks in advance.

  10. My questions are: What is my next best approach? The Amphur in Buriram town ?

Does my application have to be submitted in the Amphur where my house is?

I look forward to any replies,

    Regards.......Off road

    Yo there Off Road,

I am the guy that Off Road refers to in his village who came from Banglamung.

From my experience Off Road.............yes you have to apply for the book in the Amphur, or possibly Changwat, where your home is. The reason I am pretty certain on this is that when I moved home from Banglamung Office to Buriram, well I actually saw the head of Banglamung Office about changing my address. Obviously in Chonburi they are much more familiar in dealing in such matters. She explained to me, in rather good English as well, that I would have to go to Buriram amphur to change my address. She did however give me a letter from her office explaining that I had left the address in Banglamung and also placed a red stamp in my exisiting yellow book.

When I went to the Prakhon Chai office and saw the head honcho there, don't know if it was the same one now, as this was 2006, I produced my yellow book and the letter from the Banglamung office. It was obvious that he was unsure of what to do and rang the head of Banglamung office for instructions etc, via the number on my accompanying letter from there. However..................on receiving those instructions he explained to my wife that the red stamp in the book actually cancels that one and I would be issued with a new one....................he turns around and pulls a new yellow book out of the filing cabinet drawer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Therefore my guess is that you caught this guy on a bad day.

I would suggest you drive up to Buriram city and try the amphur there Off Road, the most they are going to do is re-direct you back to Prakhon Chai.........but you may get lucky.............I hope so...........take care..... :o

Thank you for all of this info Mr Ban!

  11. Hello,

Many thanks for your prompt replys.

I have printed out the pic of the front cover of the Yellow Tambien Baan to add to my file.

My wife did mention to the guy in Prachon Chai that a neighbour in "my" village already was in posession of a Yellow Tambien Baan. This he had when he had a condo in Pattaya.....issued in Banglamung......and then transferred to his house when he sold the condo. The guy in the Amphur even suggested to my wife to go and apply in Banglamung .....and get this.....to lie to get this document.

At no time was there any suggestion of him putting his hand out. He just simply was not going to do it....it was too much trouble...and he told my wife to come back in October!

    Regards, Off road

  12. Greetings, and Happy New Year to you all.

Over the past couple of months i have been gathering the documents required to submit with the application for a Yellow Tambien Baan. They are:

Copy of passport & certified translation (of main page).

Copy & certified translation of my birth certificate.

Certified copy of my marriage certificate.

    Copy of my retirement visa.

Letter from Embassy (UK)+ certified translation.

Copy of Thai driving licence (car & motorbike).

    Copy of wife's ID

Copy of wife' blue Tambien Baan...every page.

    Family photograph.

    6X photos of myself.

My wife had previously (late Nov) called into the Amphur office....(Prachon Chai...Buriram).....and spoke to the chap at the front desk. He was aware of the existance of the Yellow Tambien Baan...and wrote a list of the requirements for me.

My wife and I went to the Amphur on Jan 3rd to submit my application. Prior to going, my wife called and spoke to the head man in the Amphur....to make sure that he was available. It was very crowded and the chap on the front desk gave us a ticket to go straight through to the head honcho's office at the back. Well........this guy did not want to know a thing. He was hostile from the very start. He claimed to know nothing about the Yellow Tambien Baan. ....and sent us out ...to wait.

So wait we did.....and 2 hours later we were called to this chap's office again. There was no change in his attitude and I could see that no amount of pleasantrys and fact producing on my wifes part was going to change things. He asked why I wanted the Tambien Baan.....and then said that my passpoet was good enough for me.....being farang. We left empty handed. At no time was my wife or I discourteous to anybody.

My questions are: What is my next best approach? The Amphur in Buriram town ?

Does my application have to be submitted in the Amphur where my house is?

I look forward to any replies,

    Regards.......Off road

  13. Hello all,

I have read ,with great interest, the various threads on obtaining a Yellow Tambien Baan. My wife recently visited our local Amphur office ( Prachon Chai) and obtained a list of things to bring when applying. She did not speak to the head man in the office. On the list was a letter required from my embassy ( UK). I have all of my documents in order......except the Embassy letter....yet.

Has anybody else had to produce an Embassy letter when applying for a Yellow Tambien Baan? I do appreciate that each Amphur's requirements may vary.

Kind regards to all.........and a safe holiday season.

  14. Hello all,

Just to conclude this thread...my retirement visa ( number 2 ) was issued today.

Again I was at Soi Suan Plu at 0815...and my number came up over 2 hours later. I saw a different officer from yesterday, had my wife with me, and photo copys of all bank books ...every page...and hundreds of atm receipts. The officer said that she would issue a 1 year visa....but I had to get another letter from the bank..........specifically showing a telex transfer from the UK....(The amount was 5,000GBP)....and that I was to return and go straight to her desk.....no queing.

This was completed after lunch....the passport stamped....and then forewarded to another officer at a back desk.

The scrutiny of the bank books began again and after 10 minutes got the ok. Times are a changing...and this has left me wondering what additional requirements will appear in September 2008 when I am due to renew. Just a point to remember.....should you receive money in a TT to your bank from overseas.......remember to get a print out from your bank detailing the complete transaction.

    Regards,

  15. Is the extension of stay in your passport marked "retirement" or "support Thai wife"? This 40k requirement only makes sense if you are not applying for retirement and if you used support the wife would have to be with you.

    Lopburi3,

My extension of stay for the past year shows retirement visa. For 3 months prior to that my visa was on the marry/support basis. I would be quite happy to settle for either visa ( 1 year and 90 day reporting) as I believe that I am eligable for either.

Thanks again for your views......I shall update you again after tomorrows visit.

    Regards,

    Off road

  16. It is not clear if you need 40k Embassy because your 800k for retirement is short or if they intend to change you to 40k income family extension of stay? Are you also saying you did not have passbooks/copies and bank letter? Do all accounts have your name only?

    Lopburi3,

Hi, All a/c have my name only. I had 3 letters from 3 banks totalling 850k...all been there more than the required 3 months. I had the bank books there with me.....but she wanted copys of them as well.

When I first changed from tourist visas to non imm 0.......my first application was on the basis of support/marry......for 3 months. When I got the year visa propper....being over 50...the officer just said...." you over 50.....retirement visa better for you"

    Regards,

    Off road

  17. Chiang Mai,

    Thank you for your reply.

The Immigration officer made it quite clear of what was required.

    1. 800k in bank +bank letter to proove + photo copys of pass books

    2. Letter from embassy to show a monthly income of 40,000

    3. She gave me another form headed 'statement' to fill in.....very badly written ...in Thai and English. I gather it is a statement from my wife....which details where we live.

    4. Map to my apartment.

Hopefully will get another officer tomorrow.

    Regards,

    Off road

  18. Hello everybody,

I am a UK citizen, 51 years old, married to a Thai and have 2 children, both in an International school here in Bangkok. I hold a retirement visa ( expires on the 16th Sept). I do not have a pension from the UK. My wife and I have an income in excess of 70,000 baht per month here from various Thai investments and I bring in the school fees from the UK via Visa card ( in excess of one million Baht per year).

Today, 10th Sept I went to Immigration at 0830. My number came up at 11.00.( have total of 800,000 Baht In 3 a/c's.....and bank letters) . A map showing the location of my apartment is required...no probs...I have ATM slips for the past 5 years+ the bank statements ( which I did not have with me today)...no probs... A letter is required from the embassy to show pension.....40,000 Baht per month.

I do realise that the moods and rules at Soi Suan Plu change on an almost daily basis , but this letter which is required from the Embassy has given me cause for concern ( my first ever ' knock back' in 15 years.

I plan to go again tomorrow..... with my wife and bank statements/ATM slips and o/s tt details....school invoices and whatever else I can dig up....But in the meantime I would welcome anyones constructive comments on this.

    Kind regards to all,

    Off road

  19. Anyone know a place in Bkk selling dog houses? I want something both attractive and suitable for protecting my Chihuahua from the rain etc. Currently he goes into the garden shed but that's a little problematic as getting to it it requires transversing the cat's territory.

Hi ...got mine here http://www.globalpets.net/products.html. Thay have a good range.....on wheels so you can move it around and has a "drip tray" / & floor comes out easy for hosing down. Thay are off Sukhumvit 60 something from memory.

The question, as i understand it, is that you'd like to stay connected via the internet as you're travelling.

I suppose the answer to that would be to get an aircard for your computer so you can connect to your cell phone, then dial out from your cell and you'll be connected. Then you can post about your sightings, etc. Would be nice.

    Don't type and drive :o

Nope she is driving the other bike and I want to talk to her as in 'walkietalkie' but in a 'drivietalkie'

    and preferably wireless...

I Europe I used to see people cruising having a microphone device at heir mouth and

wondered if that kind of device is available or even exists
