  1. I know a fair bit as a layman and as done both parents probate and IHT. Fathers in Thailand without a Will and both parents in UK. Don't forget your RNRB Residential Nil Rate Band allowance on your property if it's your principle private residence. This adds £175,000 to your £325,000 IHT allowance. As current legislation allows
  2. Yes great video and thanks to all for responses. Got me wondering how far I could get on visa exempt entry? Is it back to 30 days with 30 day extension at immigration for UK? So 2 months......Have I got that right?
  3. Used to have a retirement visa which expired as not been back for 3 years. I'm planning a trip for up to 6 months departing around November 2023. Could someone advise procedure and requirements in UK to obtain appropriate Tourist visa? and if any other/better options available for up to 6 months stay. (I don't have required funds in Thailand for retirement visa and not wishing to remit funds.) Thanks
  4. No! Told vaccine would not stop you catching or spreading covid but would significantly reduce chances of hospitalization and dying from covid.
  5. No! because theres no demand for that product. The Russian people should see through the Kremlin lies and propaganda and overthrow Putin so they stop the war are not seen as a Terrorist State. The indicted war criminal should then be extradited to face war crimes in the Hague
  6. near-by ambulance not ready to try to save a life! It's so much easier to meet your maker living in Thailand....more risks taken and more danger present. Must be due another regular balcony flying event soon! Meanwhile wear plenty of sun lotion SP50.
  7. About time! Putin the criminal has been poisoning folk abroad, locking up opposition, enriching himself and sanctioning war crimes whilst running a regime that constantly lies with impunity for long enough. At least now he is labelled and a home-body. Look forward to seeing the Chinese President meeting his friend the indicted war criminal lol
  8. Good to hear but practically worthless. They will never see a court or justice!
  9. went to Thailand to look for work! why! There's plenty if unmet job vacancies here in UK. To the point the chancellor is promoting schemes to get the workforce still not back to work after Covid. Working in Thailand has plenty if additional hurdles and here in UK availability is good and no hurdles. That reason to travel to Thailand to find work is not common sense or standing up to even brief scrutiny.
  10. Retirees having a spare 40 million baht! lmao 40 million baht just to own my own home and land it sits on. why would I? if anything it makes me feel more determined NEVER to buy but only rent. much safer and no real term commitment to put up with anything - problem neighbours, dogs, construction, karaoke, loudspeakers, bars, noise of any sort, boundary or legal issues etc that can start up at any time and totally blight life. NAH!
  11. no. if renting just rent a house. if buying, don't. Rent. its luck of the draw with neighbours and once bought difficult to sell. I had that experience and NEVER again!
  12. oh tell me another one lol. All respectable countries voted to condemn Russia. Not back, excuse or play politics
  13. there is only one country with a thug in charge and who lie consistently as a matter of course and have no moral boundary and who now threaten repeatedly to use Nuclear weapons. Putin's Russia. Look into Putin's eyes. They are dead Fish eyes with no humanity. He will do whatever he needs to protect himself and his position whilst already overseeing numerous war crimes! The modern day Hitler!
  14. new dictionary definition of the word LIE....... The Kremlin Relentless and repeated to distruction.
  15. shameful Thailand! I know losing face is frowned upon, but clearly not as much as being two faced
  16. another example.... I joined Simply Gym on their off peak membership. No joining fee and cost was £9.99 a month. can go weekends and midweek daytime. In Thailand I asked on my visit and off peak not an option. Typical monthly cost I found was 1,000 baht or higher. So thats over double what I can pay to suit me in UK. I think normal membership is £16/£17 month, so still cheaper than typical Thai price and equipment better than those i viewed in Thailand too.
  17. I only miss the Thai Ladies. NOTHING ELSE AT ALL. I returned to Thailand for 28 days in July only to sort out stuff in storage and motor bike and send funds to UK - via bkk bank and converted allowable amount into GBP and took home with me. I met the usual difficulties and attitude at times which I also don't miss at all and likewise immigration. I'm not a basher and enjoyed my time in Thailand. For me life is way better in UK for socialising, health and in my case financial too. Not a moment's regret or doubt. wash those veg....covered in pesticides. Use that sunblock. careful on those roads. the list is just too long and literally I had only the ONE plus and these days I'm not interested in supporting a new squeeze so I have zero interest in living in Thailand where at most an occassional holiday will suffice.
  18. If You have a place to live in UK then personally I think it's better and costs are comparible. after 15 years in Thailand I moved back to UK. 2nd hand cars are far cheaper here. food is similar if on western diet. ability to work and earn and get any state benefits due. Pension increased rather than frozen. Free health care. it's no longer the easy decision that Thailand is better when you get posioned from pesticides and the EXCHANGE RATE plus inflation really doesn't make it the obvious winner anymore. Sure Thailand is still cheaper but not enough and for me I prefer a walk/bike ride in the countryside than skin cancer in the sun or running from soi dogs....sun damage is a real complacent issue that mounts up over lifetime exposure. I stayed out of sun but still got Actinic Keratosis on ears and hands and friend died of Melenoma. Not for me any longer and I'm far happier back in UK where excluding accommodation costs - I have accommodation at minimal cost - then overall I'm actually better off in fact in my personal circumstances. Might even look for part time job as that's always an option. Far happier here and social life and sleep in peace and quiet far better too. Been back for over 2 years now
  19. Putin is a murderous thug and this guy should be dispatched on to a different plane of existance along with his boss!
  20. indeed. i tested positive for covid 7 days ago and went to Memorial Hospital, Pattaya. have to say the experience was poor. i wanted to get an antiviral but of course told i needed tons of paperwork passort and pcr test even though i tested positive with 3 LFT's that i showed them and needed and chest x-ray and to see doctor and IF approved then given antiviral medication. total cost between 25,000 and 30,000 baht. Nurse was surley and dissmissive and i decided as had 2 vaccines and 2 boosters from uk i would tell them to stick it. now all recovered fortnately. its ALL about money at these hospitals and my past experience of treatment leaves much room for improvement.
  21. indeed banks are open! there are some stupid people here calling others stupid! the nerve lol
  22. yup just as i was told. They appear open as my bank is OPEN! SCB Jomtien Beach Road. unlike previous stupid poster
