Not that unique. There is another one on the 346 to Kanchanaburi. Just sitting there in the middle of nowhere by the side of the road. Not a restaurant or anything as far as I can see. Been there a few years now but how it got there and what the story is I have no idea.

YEAH...I saw that one a couple of weeks ago..............could not believe what i was seeing STRANGE.............

“We’re still waiting on the autopsy results, so we don’t know whether he committed suicide or not,”

rather presumptuous statement considering his family apparently said he was an alcoholic with medical problems.

May he rest in peace and condolences to his family

autopsy results mean NOTHING in this country .....it will read "died from natural causes"

    Well that's the thing.

It's not the fact that he died but how he died and whether we will really know the true cause.. how long does an autopsy take to conduct anyways?

Oh wait there was a cremation

a couple of my friends have died over the last 3 years.....autopsy result for both of them WAS DIED FROM NATURAL CAUSES !!! tells one that autopsy result can be anything in this country....

Even though it is against the law to ride in the back of s pickup truck and in the back cargo seat of s small two door pickup the Prime Minister said for new year's it would be OK so when people die in accidents Mr.  Prime Minister I hope you can sleep at night.

of course he can sleep at night HE IS STILL ALIVE.....unlike all who have died due to stupid driving !!!!!!

The truck was certainly undertaking traffic and the quality of the following truck drivers driving made him complicit when undertaking while there was a parked truck on the left. Perhaps he wasn't concentrating given the 'rabbiting' conversation on the video.

However, the root cause of the accident - poor vehicle maintenance (low tyre pressure or badly worn tires) resulting in the blow out combined with unrestrained passengers.

I'd like to think that had many of us been driving this accident could have been avoided with quicker reactions and certainly not attempting to *undertake when the road was already blocked to the left.

[*someone is bound to come on here and question 'undertaking' but in reality, in Thailand its sometimes the only way of passing some slow moving traffic in the right most lanes]

undertaking IS ILLEGAL in Thailand......but all drivers still do it

Hard to say anything that is not repetitive of others.... I went through four police checkpoints in a distance of 20 kilometres in Surin Province on Saturday night.... waved through the first, licence checked at the second [Policeman surprised I had a Thai licence!!] waved through third and fourth.... You would have thought I would have been breath tested (and maybe failed) at least at one of the checkpoints....

Then Sunday from Surin to Chonburi via Bangkok I passed so many checkpoints that I lost count.... only one was manned by Policemen on the carriageway and we were all waved through 'cos they already had too many stopped for the capacity of the tea money collectors!!!

Hardly an effective measure for compliance, but nevertheless a highly visible reminder to wear seat belt, and obey traffic regulations.....

i drove some 350 kms from 28th dec to 2nd jan.....passed numerous checkpoints....many police stood around doing nothing except talking ....and some watching something on their phones. SO MOST CERTAINLY BRINGING THE DEATH STATISTIC DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!

If they would frghten them with servier penalties like loss of license, confisca their vehicals and big fines and plaster it on the TV and in the papers it would help. But they do not really care. Like in the western countries. If I go out in my car at night for a drink with the wife or friends I have no more than 1 drink and them I will have water. In New Zealand it is minimum fine of around $2,000 and 3-6 months driving ban.

famous footballer Wayne Rooney (ex Manchester United)  got 2 year ban if I remember right....do not know what the fine was but it would have been quite big
