What you don't seem to understand is that Trump  had already ordered the withdrawal of 40% of American troops and a pullback to Kabul. So the only way for Biden to protect American troops had they overstayed the agreement was to reinvade Afghanistan. Given the the US and Afghani troops had already lost control of most of the areas they held, it would have meant relaunching the war.

Biden went against the advice of Miley and other generals. Biden takes the hit on this, plain and simple.

No more copy and paste please.

I wish I was single and mobile - I would do the same and spend my time between Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and maybe Hong Kong and Singapore.  If I am never a tax resident anywhere, then I never have to pay income taxes - perfect.  Then when older (75?) go back to Aust and 'fade away' in a country where medical services are basically free.

I have a kid here or I would do exactly as you said and be a part timer in Thailand.

You forgot to note that Trump shares a huge amount of the blame in this. He essentially turned over most of Afghanistan to the Taliban. In fact, in the waning days of his administration he even ordered a complete withdrawal from Afghanistan which the military leadership ignored.

Trump ordered rapid withdrawal from Afghanistan after election loss

President Donald Trump ordered a rapid withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Somalia in the wake of his 2020 election loss, but senior officials never followed through on the plan, according to testimony released by the congressional January 6 committee on Thursday.

“The order was for an immediate withdrawal, and it would have been catastrophic,” said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., one of two Republican members of the special panel. “And yet President Trump signed the order.”

By the way, just to forestall a possible irrelevant objection from you, I condemn the military for not obeying the order of the commander-in-chief. It's clear that was a dereliction of duty.

The topic is biden and he will be remembered for the withdrawal.

And close on the heels of thinly veiled racism is misogyny.

Because of course someone who is not white can’t ever attain power without ‘DEI’ and a strong, intelligent, articulate, assertive and qualified woman can only get power if she slept her way there.

    What mess Jonny.

Condoleezza Rice comes to mind. She is brilliant. Harris.....not so much.

Personally I will be relieved if they replace all the loud mouthed Americans.

Give me a petite Chinese girl over a plus sized American Karen any day.
    They are so annoying.

Or their husbands who can’t hold together a conversation without it turning political.

What about you? Are you leaving?

    Stay off the baht buses.

Your caricature is ridiculous. As the following artilce in Rupert Murdoch's wall st. journal article noted it's only over the past several months that people who know Biden have noted a sharp change:

European officials had already been expressing worries in private about Biden’s focus and stamina before Thursday’s debate, with some senior diplomats saying they had tracked a noticeable deterioration in the president’s faculties in meetings since last summer. There were real doubts about how Biden could successfully manage a second term, but one senior European diplomat said U.S. administration officials in private discussions denied there was any problem.

The major measures I noted were all products of his first 2 years in office.

You forgot to mention his Afghanistan Withdrawal. That one will go down in history.

Could it be because the Thai financial / income year is the calendar year and that doesn't until the 31st December 2024?  :cheesy:

He said "TIN."  I took that to be a Thai "Tax Identification Number."  It could be his US number, so perhaps I have misunderstood.  Do you know the member personally?

I went to Bangkok Bank to open account. They gave me paperwork that said TIN on top. I stopped and left, I only figured it was for Thai ID number. Not doing it.

In a piece of real estate like San Franciso with year round mild weather on a small peninsula that rich people in the world (still) want to flock to, I don't consider homelessness realistically solvable.

I think the only way to solve it is with federal solutions.

I liked that Newsom was a pioneer for marriage equality.

In particular, there has been a noticeable reduction in the number of tents and drug activity along Van Ness Avenue, in United Nations Plaza and around the Speaker Nancy Pelosi Federal Building, which has long been the epicenter of the city’s drug crisis.

IMO, folks are making bookoo $$ off the homeless crisis. Alot of admin jobs paying big bucks. They don't want to stop the gravy train.
