  1. Fine, as long as you refund the taxes I paid over my working life. The politicians peed away said taxes, while they created a country where many retirees are having to choose between eating, and staying warm.
  2. No. My father worked all his life in a job he hated, I loved the work I did. In retirement, his life was barren, mine is not. He did pass on some useful knowledge, such as avoiding debt like the plague. He used to say if you look after any equipment you own, it will look after you. I suppose he did pass on a gambling gene. He used to punt on long shots with the horses, I do it with stocks and shares.
  3. This is par for the course in Thailand. Thai women know when they get to age 60, for the most part they can look forward to a government pension of 600 baht/month. They also know farangs, even retired ones, are much more financial than they will ever be. It's the luck of the draw, one either gets one that will take good care of you in return for support, or one that tries to take you for as much as they can gouge. You may encounter one that you feel is worth more investment of your time. Otherwise, withdraw after one or two dates. Block your phone. Good luck.
  4. The special express is only two and a half hours, train #7 https://www.thailandtrains.com/train-travel-from-bangkok-to-nakhon-sawan/
  5. Does the OP need to book? IIRC getting on the longer hauls e.g. Bangkok to Chiang Mai was not easy.
  6. Perhaps the desktop and laptop are different in the adblocking, cookie acceptance and spam settings. If it was Windows, both would be affected.
  7. Interesting, most smartphones IME are either Android or Mac.
  8. Attacking me personally is ad hominem argument, one of the dishonest forms. Begging the question is another. Goodbye.
  9. For mine, John D MacDonald is one of the best novelists America has produced. "One More Sunday", " Condominium" and "Barrier Island" are a commentary on various aspects of American culture and mores. The film "Cape Fear" is based on one of his novels. J D MacDonald died in 1986, contemporary authors such as Lee Child acknowledge their debt to him. RIP.
  10. Nonyl phenol ethoxylates ( nonionic surfactants ) are implicated in endocrine disruption. They are still used in many laundry and dishwashing formulas. They are not removed by water treatment processes. Having said that, RFK's comments on COVID vaccination IMO put him in the ratbag category. I wonder how many people died because they believed him.
  11. On all of the devices?
  12. When did I say bar hookers went to university? You could be living up to your nom-de-plume, or posting from a bar stool while you are trying to con a 50yo Issan hooker to go with you without a bar fine. Either way, I don't care.
  13. Operating system. Android, Windows, Linux, ubuntu, Mac etc.
  14. What are your OS on each device?
  15. I felt privileged to watch Sir Antony Sher's live performance in Richard III, it was mesmerizing. RIP. TV has always dumbed down, as it caters for the lowest common denominator in the audience. Occasionally a gem is found in the byre's muck. One such example is "Sun on the Stubble", a 1996 coming of age TV serial set in the wheat-farming belt of Australia's Eyre Peninsula. My pet peeve is the canned laughter which is used on almost every American TV show to support the notion it is comedy.
  16. So-called "sideline girls" are all over Thai social media looking for sponsors short-term and long-term. Most of them are university students. I can't provide any links. However, when my son was studying at university in Australia, he estimated one-third of the female students were selling sex to supplement their income, and that is a more censorious society. No reason to suppose Thailand is different. It depends on location, I can remember an angelic-looking bar girl in Chiang Mai who worked in Malaysia, and boasted of having 19 clients in 24 hours. I suspect that was exaggerated.
  17. You don't know how many men your non-bar girl has shagged before you. Segregating women into a binomial order of marriage is ridiculous. I understand about one-third of university-educated women in Thailand and elsewhere sell sex as a means of supporting themselves during their time at university. Are you going to bar them too? How would you know? You would probably be safe for marrying if you picked out the plainer ones, good luck.
  18. At risk of sounding conspiracy theorist, the pharmaceutical industry has a vested interest in developing medications for which there is an ongoing need, sometimes for the lifetime of a patient. I suspect if there was a competition for the research dollar between a drug which had to be taken regularly, and one which cured a condition permanently with only a couple of doses, the former would win out most times.
  19. Then presumably you have also heard of binomial statistics. Pretty simple really. A COVID patient either has chronic fatigue, or they don't. They lose their sense of taste and smell, or they don't. The more symptoms they have, the sicker they are. You are putting the horse behind the cart in terms of ranking severity. That suits your argument, which reminds me of the Dilbert aphorism.
  20. He says he has 20 million baht to play with. More likely it's the truth being played with.
  21. How are things going with Mrs. Owl?
  22. You think I care about your opinion? It would take several generations to achieve what you want for me, I will be gone by then. As will you.
  23. Nuclear power plants have their own problems, as Fukushima, Chernobyl and now Zaporizhia have demonstrated. There are also blind alleys, such as carbon capture and storage - a fossil fuel industry boondoggle. What annoys me most is the fact Australia receives more free solar energy than almost anywhere else, and the opportunity has been wasted by venal politicians.
