I did mention the part about chlorinated swimming pool water above...  There's a reason most public swimming pool water is chlorinated.

You are looking for logic in a country where it morphs continually.

Swimming pools are not the problem, it's the number of people in them. i try to swim when there is no-one else there.

Yep, if everyone gets it at once we don’t have the medical resources to treat the old and vulnerable.

Surely it’s not that hard to sit reasonably still for a couple of weeks ?

I agree with you, and that is why I am 1/  Not socialising 2/ Playing golf by myself, and using the swimming pool when no-one is there 3/ Wearing a mask outside my room 4/ Air purifier running 24/7 in my room. 5/ Regular hands Hygiene.

  3. It's already here. Massive job losses in the tourist industry. No caterers need for AFL matches in Australia, they are playing to empty stadiums. People out of work who can't pay their rent. Retirees are going to find the share dividends they rely on are going to be slashed, along with franking credits.

It's actually not a bad time to be an age pensioner, albeit being in the most vulnerable cohort.

Buffalo can be tasty if prepared correctly. Bison are even better. Corn fed whitetails are the best.

Except for a carefully aged Kansas or Oklahoma Rib Eye.

Sigh. I keep telling you a Gippsland eye fillet is so much better than that feedlot <deleted>, because we feed the cattle with real grass. Can be cut with a fork, so tender. One of the things I miss, with a hearty Shiraz, naturally.

Why do I get the feeling I am trying to describe colors to a blind man?

Not that much off topic - it is about being older and surviving ????   There are many things on my bucket list I have done, and some I never will, but there is one I am hopeful of - and that is beating my age at golf.  I assume he was a good golfer and therefore probably did it in his 70s - and probably on a 'real' golf course (par 72). There is an easy golf course nearby here where par is 68 and I have shot in the mid 70s a few times - so maybe.  That is the key I reckon - finding  an easier golf course ????  No way at Augusta or Bay Hill - never will be I reckon on a course like that.

Shot 77 around Gymkhana age 76, but for a double bogey on the 17th, alas. IMO if we continue to set our selves goals, it is life-prolonging. My hero is Keith McPherson, in the Guinness Book of Records for breaking his age. Played with him quite a few  times. His grandson, Bryden McPherson, won the British Amateur. Good thread, it's stirring up the possums.
