So the guy was planning to renew his extension close to the previous expiry?
he said it expires on the 10th december. he was planning on going to extend next week.
He said he's confused by the rules etc and is now looking for his best course of action.
He has the 800k in the bank but it will be 10 days short of the required time if that makes sense
-
I have a friend who is due to do his yearly extension based on retirement, this will be the second year.
The 800k in the bank will be 10 days short of the 3 months seasoning.
He has read it only needs to be in the bank for 2 months if it's not the 1st extension but has also read it must be 3 months.
He spoke to an agent who said he would need to start the whole process again and leave to get a new non oa visa which he wants to avoid.
Can he not extend at immigration to cover those extra 10 days needed for the seasoning period and is it still 3 months and not 2 for the extensions after the 1st one?
I have looked on the forum but can't find a sure answer and am not retired so don't know myself.
Any help would be appreciated
He does his extensions at CW and holds an Irish passport.

You can get a work permit whilst on your marriage visa.
If you are are no longer with your wife and are going to divorce anyway then obviously that's a different issue all together.
Just apply for a non b instead and extend that, you can apply for a non b before you divorce.

"he may make some cash from selling the story." - which is now deemed to be the proceeds of crime and can be confiscated.
Are you sure about that? so all the ex cons who have released books etc have their money confiscated? which countries? I find that hard to believe.

From memory, he was about to be deported back to Australia where he was facing big jail time for serious offences.
oh i see. i thought it was just overstay or something like that.

Considering he only had 3 months left of a one year sentence i think it was pretty stupid to do a runner.
Doubt he's in Thailand if he's checked in here.
Wherever he is, he's there illegally and will end up in jail again for longer and may well get deported back to Bali if he isn't already there to serve an extended sentence.
He'll be back in jail for a lot longer than 3 months soon enough i reckon.
The only thing that he could gain out of it is when he is eventually freed, he may make some cash from selling the story.
His choices, his crime was hardly the crime of the century so up to him I guess.

The thing i find really sad is the story would suggest it is still possible and seemingly easy to procure a 14 year old child for sex for 500 baht on a popular tourist beach here, very sad.

An evil trade and one which doesn't carry harsh enough penalties for the severity of the crimes from what I have seen reported around the world IMO.
Highly lucrative and destroys peoples lives but sentences are much less severe than drug trafficking.
How can trafficking humans who are often subjected to rape, abuse and torture carry less sentences than trafficking drugs? It's messed up IMO

Use TW to transfer money from my UK account to my Thai account. Can't fault them.
I get the mid-day exchange rate and the charges are significantly cheaper than what my bank would charge.
If I transfer Mon-Thurs then fund are available in my Thai account next day. Friday for Monday.
Whenever i have transferred on a friday from the UK (a couple of different banks) it has cleared into thai account saturday afternoon

there's a small restaurant next to where you'll get the transport over. your friend can wait there for you. you'd be done in about 20 minutes or so anyway
i took my friend there not too long ago
he bought the ticket to cross in a small agency type shop that was in the restaurant on the left just before thai immigration and i just waited there.
I am not sure if he bought at the cheapest place but it cost him less than a thousand baht so i think it was fine
Like i said he was back in around 20 minutes or so and didn't even have to leave the bus, it was all done for him

I'd rather take a beach road lady boy back to meet the old dear than that rancid drunk.
I still would though, from behind with a pillow case over her head. The ruskie not the LB!!

As usual it's the TVF people attacking some farang going about his business not harming anyone, i bet the locals care less than people on here, strange.
I doubt he was on the dole all his life, 70 year old out washing cars in the heat would lead me to think he is the opposite type of bloke.
Couldn't care less if he has a WP. maybe he opened a business with the wife and employs a few thais and got a WP to run on a marriage visa, wouldn't know if that's possible, his business though.
I'm not sure he was the one who is putting this about on social media but more likely some locals who see no harm in what he is doing.
I know some retired people here who are itching to work and who have skills and/or qualifications that would be of great benefit to thailand but find it difficult to find a way to work, some people after working all their lives find it hard to just switch off.
This reminds me of a bloke with one leg a couple of years ago who was doing great with a food stall and it went viral as some thais had put it on social media praising him and his food.
For that guy he said not long after it was the worst thing that happened as he was forced to close, i hope that doesn't happen with this guy if all he is doing is trying to keep himself fit and busy whilst contributing to his family finances.

Just because you state "I am not blaming the victim" doesn't cancel out your previous obvious blame of the victim.
This is a simple for ALL men to understand. Women have the right to get drunk if they want to, exactly the same as men. They have the right to let their hair down and socialise and talk to new people (strangers) in a bar. They also have the right to accept someone offering to walk them home. Lastly, they also have the right to get home safely and not be raped and taken advantage of by a scumbag man.
The man has NO RIGHT to take advantage and rape the women. If he offers to walk her home because she is drunk then he should do exactly that, walk her home and make sure she gets home safely, thats it.
You can talk to the woman later about using more wisdom in her activities and not leaving herself open for these scumbag rapists. BUT THE MAN IS AT FAULT,,, 100% not the woman.
Wake up fella! Have you ever walked a lady home? I have and it never , ever occurred to me to get her alone and rape her because she was drunk and it would be easy,, not ever. The guy is a rapist, focus on that first, you can talk about the wisdom of her actions later, AFTER the rapist is caught.
Sorry, but this is such Dinosaur thinking. Rape it rape fella, thats it.
Didn't say it wasn't fella. Simply stated that if you get pissed to the point that you don't know what you're doing and ask a stranger in a foreign country to take you home then you may well come unstuck. That goes for guys to.
You can say she has the right to do this and that which is fine but then these things may happen and the police have no chance of prosecution unless there was witnesses etc.
She has the right to get pissed up and all the other <deleted> you mention but she is increasing the risk to herself, wake up yourself fella.
Anyway i have given my opinion on the matter and i stick with that opinion and knew a comment such as yours would be the reply.
You call it Dinosaur thinking, i call it common sense.

Not much for her to lie about as she doesn't remember anything except . . .
She was drunk whilst in a bar with a thai man who she asked to take her back to her hotel as she was too drunk to go herself.
Wakes up and knows she's had sex the night before and nothing else. Claims she was raped.
Sure she may have been drugged or just drunk and raped but these girls aren't really giving the police much hope of prosecution, would she have done that back home?
If she did, she may well find something similar or worse would happen.
No, I am not victim blaming, just saying, it's not like there haven't been enough warnings signs for young female tourists recently, that getting so drunk you cannot control yourself may well lead to trouble especially if drinking with a stranger in a foreign country

Never asked me in the past 5 years extending in Bangkok
If doing your extension based on retirement (as with the OP situation) according to reports here they will from now on if they haven't before.
For extension based on marriage they have always wanted it from us and everyone i know so if they haven't in that situation with you then that is also strange.

Every Thai looks at us and thinks, does this person have a visa.
What a load of claptrap, most Thais have no idea about what we have to do.
Last week my wife went to do my 90 days, asked her sister to go with her, her sister asked... Why you do that, wife says have to do it every 90 days, sister asked how long you do that, since Colin came to live here my wife answered, that is crazy sister says.
True, I think most know zilch about foreign visas and just assume you're allowed to be here if you are.
All my thai family and friends also think the 90 day reports are barmy, but i guess when you've been a part of the family for many many years they almost think you would just be allowed to stay regardless.
How wrong they are 5555

My God Man!
Do you really think immigration is looking at his Facebook?
He could have used any name with FB
There have been reports from others on TVF in this guys situation who had to show the IO's their FB page and one was even questioned about a photo of him on a tuk tuk with regards to working 5555. So not so crazy to think that an IO in the back office has a quick search on his name to see if he is on facebook under said name (which he is) and if there are any clues as to what he has been up to recently (which there are), in this case his FB page says he's living in Thailand.

He spends the weekend wooing the younger voters at future fest then heads out to garner support down the road from the older generation during the week. He may be new to politics but he seems to have a good idea of what he's doing.
I wish him and the FWP the best in the future.

They stamped a colour photocopy ...and stamped a Kor Ror 22 ..but i don't think any certified copies are good....you always need the original
I felt at the time them keeping the original was dumb...I kept saying you can't keep the original but in the end I gave up
Now we're going to have to go trapsing back to Laksi
Try to just put it down to error/misunderstanding which can't be changed now so try not to stress about it too much. Easier said than done, i know. Just go and get your original back.
As someone mentioned before do not use an agent next time as it is so straight forward to do yourself.
It's a bummer as you don't even need the kor ror 22 until you do the extension so could have done that later.
You only needed the original marriage certificate and signed copy.
I am not 100% but i think the photocopy with the amphoe stamp and the Kor Ror 22 should have been fine but as everyone uses the original the consulate may not even know this themselves if indeed this is accepted also.

I am surprised he hasn't been done for intent to supply but think he will by the time he goes to court.
Selling in a reggae bar and carrying it on him, pretty damn stupid or was smoking too much himself to care.
He was probably some thai boys bitch.
I think the thai boys probably found another mug to take over his 'patch' after he got to obvious and they asked the police to come and pick up their wanna be gangsta mate.

In the region? you mean koh phangan? not sure haven't been for many years.
your second sentence suggests that you know this was a rapist, you don't know that at all.
retirement extension seasoning
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
so he should go to CW on the 10th. try to do the extension which will likely be denied.
Then he will get 7 days, but ask them if he can come back after 10 days, pay 3 days overstay and extend then once the seasoning time is met?
Is this correct?
