  1. "I have no skills nor any wish to work for some meager pay in LOS. All I have is Thai skills, willingness to study and a little money.

will the education stream suit me although I do not plan to work? If I get a PHD but do not work is this stream viable?"

Your thai skills will make no difference until you meet other requirements, they are not really interested in people with little money but will welcome you to spend what little you have. As you say you have no skills then you would not get a decent expat package here but most likely the meager pay you mention.

They would welcome you to get an education visa and pay for your studies and then on completion leave.

The only other option i think you would have on completion of studies is to teach or something like that.

I know these aren't the answers you were hoping for but it's best that you know early on so you don't waste your time.

  2. OP, you do not have any chance of getting PR in the situation you describe. You can forget that.

Did you honestly think that they would give people PR for owning a property worth just 3 million baht.

I'd just drop the idea, you will not be getting PR without working and paying tax for a decent number of years.

And as the post above says any investment would need to be in a business which is subsequently paying tax and not just an investment in a property, imagine the number of chinese jumping on that!

(to add IMO, due to the large numbers of chinese entering the condo market if anything I think in the future you will find thailand making it more difficult for foreigners to purchase property and certainly not giving any permission to stay based upon it)

  3. Wasn't it mentioned the other day that only 5 of the 12 are fit to fly?

Perhaps they should have spent a bit more on engineer/mechanic training to fit the spare parts so most of them aren't still grounded or have the spare parts already been sold ????

i just saw the last comment by JAG, kind of getting at the same thing

They lap it up because they lack 'moral fiber'. Aussies and Brits are the worst. They complain, mewl and gnash their teeth for the obvious reason their culture is fast on the fade and they do nothing to stop it, except whinge.

As China waxes strong likely expect to see lunar New Year celebrations on every High Street.

Your comment sounds like a whinge ????

If that were the reason, there would not be many ATMs after immigration for outgoing passengers. It is clear that the failure to provide ATMs before immigration is a deliberate decision to increase immigration officials' leverage with travelers who do not carry cash.

the irony being that those 'tourists' who even know about the cash rule and therefore carry it are probably the most likely to be the ones staying longer term and potentially working

Are the stopping foreigners at the station and asking for ID? Wondering how they caught him?

    Doubt that very much.

I would think they tracked him down somehow, the drug selling was on a pretty large scale.

That's going to be a fairly long stretch.

No you shouldn't but I'm surprised you haven't left since you posted your predicament before. I'm sure you have heard what dump IDP is. As Briggsy said keep your head down until you fly.

Nice gesture, but a week-long funeral will drag on.

Hope the lads behave themselves on this trip.

I am sure the junior players will be warned in no uncertain terms that respect must be shown, if they take them.

The senior players without doubt will be respectful and those guys have women throwing themselves at them wherever they go so I expect the naughtier side of bangkok would be of no interest to them.

(well, i doubt they'd record it anyway)

Just one question: How many THAI criminals has he taken down?

Couldn't give the number as there are so many and internationally not just within Thailand.

Many reports in the news that were also on thaivisa for you to look back on.

But I am sure that's not the answer you were hoping for right?

Oh, and this story will also likely lead to chasing thai criminals

A fool and his money are swiftly parted and they must be pretty stupid to a) get involved with the scam to start with, and b) think that their money, now overseas, is ever likely to be returned, especially by Big Joke. I wonder how long it will take them to work those two facts out?

    Fool and stupid is harsh.

The victims may have been coaxed in by the smaller percentages and once they saw money coming back thought it was the real deal and then they got hit bit by bit just like the cockroaches in boiler rooms.

Panic sets in and they think by investing more they may get their money back.

The sites probably looks legit and they may have had fake testimonials to back them up etc.

In the victims defense, some may have had a less than adequate education and likely knew little about stocks and shares or currency (all similar scams, just tweeked) except that they heard you can make money and what the fraudsters showed them.

Sure, they were easy targets, as planned by the thieving cockroaches.

They were vulnerable and fell victim to scams like thousands all over the world.

It's too narrow minded to just label them fools and/or stupid IMO.

They have no chance of seeing that money again but I hope the Aussies can track the pond scum down and throw them in jail, those thieving b......... ruin peoples lives
