As usual you are off point. Posters commenting on the diminished quality of tourism in Thailand in no way is a attempt to make themselves look superior. We could care less about that, it's simply an observation.

I suppose if I cared what you thought of me I might be slightly put off by your statement, but since what you say means considerably less than zero to me, my peace of mind is not affected one iota.

    Ha!  More misrepresentations.  It's pathetic.

If your peace of mind was not effected, you wouldn't keep responding.  You have invested a massive amount of time in this forum (over 29k posts?  Get a life!).  You care deeply about how you are perceived here.  If you didn't, you wouldn't bother responding, and changing your alleged opinions when errors/inconsistencies are pointed out to you.  When someone makes valid points about your negative image on this forum, it hurts you.

If you were an adult, you could deal with criticism that is so obviously valid.  Instead you respond like a teenage girl using nonsensical phrases like “considerably less than zero”.

I rarely come to this forum unless I need visa advice.  When I do, against my better judgment, I sometimes read some of the posts that are recommended to me in the sidebar.  Inevitably the thread will contain an ill-informed, long-winded, poorly worded and often sanctimonious comment by you.

You are a pain in the a$$ to many of us.  I merely felt like pointing that out.  I realize it will not make you change (again we return to my original point of you considering yourself superior), but I feel better for having said it.  So many people use this forum to vent.  Why shouldn't I?

What on earth are you ranting on about? Financial qualifications that he apparently couldn't meet? Who are you talking about, what do you know about these people that you're talking about? My point was about Thailand's desire to attract high quality tourists, and the low quality tourists that are actually coming. Was there any connection between your reply and the topic that's being discussed?

"... My point was about Thailand's desire to attract high quality tourists, and the low quality tourists that are actually coming. ..."

You made no such point.  You're backpedaling trying to construct a point after the fact.

My point is that ASEAN Now posters who act superior when most likely average at best (considering they complain about the raising of standards) are a pain in the a$$.  A pain not remedied by the laxatives you're fond of.

Pathetic how you attempt to change the narrative to prevent yourself from looking stupid.  Massive fail.

Well I think as Thailand continues to attract lower and lower quality tourists, these problems will likely continue as that's the nature of some of the people that are coming here. Lowlifes and dregs.

    "...lower and lower quality tourists..."

This coming from the same guy who used to rant about Immigration's planned changes to attract more "high quality tourists".  Financial qualifications that he apparently couldn't meet.  Fortunately for him, you can always just marry a bar girl.

Are we feeling easily triggered at the moment? I have a couple of brands of laxative I could recommend, they really work wonders for ones mood.

You're not refuting my statement in any way.  I must have hit the nail on the head.

That you have experience with laxatives is also not surprising.

Is it just me or does it seem like the quality of the tourists coming to Thailand continues to drop rather precipitously? I noticed this trend starting even long before covid, but it seems to be very stark these days.

    Holy <deleted>...

Statement like that can only be made by someone who feels superior.  Anyone reading this guy's all-to-frequent posts will know that is definitely not the case.

I love how he starts with "Is it just me...".  Desperately searching for others who also feel superior, to confirm their joint superiority.

Pardon me...  Would you have any Grey Poupon?  But, of course...

You won't click because it would be too much of a humiliation.

They should really allow users to remove their post...

You could use that feature right now 😄

Anyway. Time for you to go back to your Fortnite game !

    Nope.

I understand the term.  You don't.

I will admit, I have no clue what Fortnite is.  Doesn't bother me though.

I won't click any shady link you post because you are suss as hell.

I suspect you googled the term "exponential multiplication" and linked the first hit.  Exponential multiplication exists, but it's simply multiplying exponents.   In your lame attempt at humor, you were using the term "exponential" as if it were a greater form of multiplication, which it isn't.

You will not understand this explanation, just like you didn't understand the link you posted.  If you understood "exponential multiplication" you wouldn't have posted any link.

According to a recent study by Pimp & Associates, the western world is in the middle of a hoeflation with a exponential multiplication of gold diggers...

What do you make of that ?

    "...exponential multiplication..."

I guarantee this guy never graduated from high school.  GED also unlikely...

What's going through his mind when he's deciding to post nonsense like this?  Aren't there forums on Reddit where this guy would feel more appreciated and at home?

Yes important to have a renewal window at a time that suits the individual.

If the preference is to have your renewal few months earlier then obtaining a new non O on return entering visa exempt not a huge deal.

If that option is chosen make sure not to obtain a reentry permit.

This is what I would like to do.  My renewal date is in June.  I would prefer it to be January.  I want to spend less than 180 days in Thailand, but be able to spend at least 170 uninterrupted days in Thailand.  A retirement visa is the only way I know to do that.

Just to confirm, if I want have a recurring renewal date in January, I have to leave without a reentry permit and return in early October.  I would enter in a visa exempt status and then immediately apply for the change of visa to the 90 day Non-O.  The Non-O would expire in January at which point I can apply for the annual extension in January.  I will have kept my 800k THB in my account the entire time, if that matters.

Additional question...  Can I leave Thailand during the initial Non-O 90 day visa period, as long as I get a reentry permit?

    Thanks, in advance!

  10. Went to IO.  Paid the fine.  In and out in 10 minutes.  New date, Christmas eve.  Should be easy to remember, but just in case, I will set up several reminders using different media.  Hopefully the redundancy will help prevent this from happening again.  Will set the reminders for the earliest possible day to give myself leeway if anything comes up that might delay me.  I need to find some way of incorporating this rhythm into my life since I might be doing this every 90 days until I die.

  11. Thank you for the advice, everyone.  This is the first of three 90 day reports for this extension.  Since the general consensus is that this is not a big deal, I have decided to report online today.  I will report online again the next two times as well and then see if they catch me when I do my next extension.  Maybe I will intentionally file on the 5th or 6th day for the next two, so that this 9 day slip is less obvious/glaring.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond!

  12. I'm on a Non- O retirement visa extension.   As the title says, I missed my report date.  9 days overdue.  First time this has happened.  Will go into the office today to report.  What will be the likely response from the immigration officer.  I assume there is a fine.  How much money do I need to bring?  What's a realistic worse case scenario?

    Thanks in advance...

I was asked for a rental contract when I tried to renew my retirement visa on my own (without an agent) at Chonburi immigration. I was caught by surprise. Such a requirement couldn't be more akward since I renew my visa every year just before flying back to Europe for 4 months (ie just before my rent ends).

This is something I have considered doing also.  Stay on the retirement visa in Thailand with longer stays out of country (90 days Malaysia with a single Thailand reentry permit?) in which I am not paying rent in Thailand.

So what did you do to get around it?

The OP said in one of the posts that release clauses are not common in Thailand. I have one in my current lease and believe my previous lease had one as well. I just lose my deposit if I move prior to the term of my lease. Is this not the norm?

I made my comments based on information from my landlord.  Her family runs a group of hotels in town with many long term residents.  She said she didn't think a cancellation clause was legal, but she would ask her lawyer about it.

Good to know there are contracts with release clauses out there.  Maybe I can get one drawn up and signed before my visa extension deadline.  Not the perfect solution, considering I would lose the deposit, but better than last minute running around looking for a new room in a new province.

    Thanks.

    Not off topic at all.

You posted an experience regarding one year lease requirement.

At same time not name office.

    Makes advice impossible.

    Advice is not impossible.

Two easy questions:  1 year rental contract requirement "normal"?  Is there an appeals process?

Please don't take my comment the wrong way.  I appreciate the "indirect" advice I've been given and will act accordingly.

    Thanks, sincerely...
