  1. I took a Thai friend to Khao Lak Beach, Phang Nga, a few months ago. She insisted on standing on a very large rock at the edge of the water for some cool photos. I pointed out that the rock was already wet and the waves were too rough to swim at the beach. I got some cool photos of her being engulfed in a huge wave and then disappearing into the whitewater. I managed to save her quickly. I don’t know how she survived with just a minor scratch and bruise. People do stupid things.
  2. Nobody seems to know exactly what happened but I would guess that there is a high likelihood that someone was pissed that the stray dogs caused a financial loss when the truck got damaged. They then went back to get revenge.
  3. The crazy thing is that they make more work for themselves by being difficult and inefficient. I had all my paperwork in order when I went to get my Non-O. Ten f@!$&@!ing visits later and I received my stamp. I dressed well. I was polite. I became increasingly frustrated and voiced my opinions (against Thai cultural norms, I know) on each visit. On the ninth visit, I was asked what’s wrong with my paperwork when I was sitting down to speak with them. I told them there’s NOTHING wrong with my paperwork but then they come up with a new form and promise me that it will be the last one one each previous visit. Then she asked for one more redundant form and i nearly blew a gasket. I got a little loud and they finally took my money and asked that I just bring this final document back within 48 hours. Now all they have to do is spend a couple minutes providing a form that is required by some other government entity to register a car. The DLT should just accept a driver license (That requires this same exact form) or a passport. I love this country but things like thriving on inefficiencies and absurdities can wear you down. It’s part of why so many folks on forums like this one seem to be so miserable. I’ll be able to enjoy myself again once I figure out how to satisfy their requirements.
  4. I’ll try sending copies of my passport, TM47, and TM30 as suggested by Nonthaburi immigration and will report back here. I suspect it will take a couple weeks at least.
  5. Yes. I told them it was for a car. I even brought a Thai friend this time. They are insisting that I can just give the DLT a copy of my passport, TM30, and TM47. I’ll soon find out if they are lying again. As a side note request; those of you claiming to have received a residency certificate from Nonthaburi this year, could you please submit a copy here with all your personal information blacked out?
  6. I need a residency certificate for a new car in Nonthaburi. They have told me several times in the past, and now recently, that they don’t do them. I tried going to Pathum Thani this morning but dealing with them is worse than Nonthaburi. From the Bangkok US Embassy website: “Residency verification to apply for a drivers license or buy/sell a vehicle: In Bangkok, please contact the Thai Immigration Bureau’s Chaeng Wattana Office (Counter B, 1st Floor) in Bangkok or the nearest regional immigration office in other provinces (except the Nonthaburi office, which does not issue them) to obtain a certificate of residence from Thai Immigration Bureau.”
  7. If you don’t mind driving a bit north, this place does an excellent job at reasonable prices. There’s play areas for the kids plus a few shops including a coffee shop. Addicted Cafe and Carwash 080 042 2551 https://maps.app.goo.gl/G1CAGs3o4jYF2GZp9?g_st=ic
  8. I wonder if they would see the humor in my clips of the RTP breaking traffic laws. Driving the wrong way, turning right from the far left, running red lights, driving on the sidewalk, etc…
  9. This is not accurate now. You can convert to a non-Ed visa while in Thailand.
  10. I received the same email. I went to the site to enter my information then received the approval about four hours later.
  11. I arrived from the USA in July on a visa exemption and am currently on a Covid extension. My extension of stay expires on 11 April. I turn 50 on 02 August 2022 and will convert to a retirement visa at that time. My Thai language skills aren’t progressing as quickly as I would like so I can fill the gap with an education visa. My question is about timing for classes required for an education visa. Do I have to begin taking classes from the first day of my education visa (12 April), or can I begin classes three weeks later?
  12. I went to the Nonthaburi immigration office this morning and there were very few people there. They gave me my final Covid extension after saying no a few times. Let’s hope the borders are truly open in both directions in 60ish days.
  13. The Google Translate app has no problems translating from an image.
  14. Easiest way is to screenshot it then use Google Translate.
  15. This is simply not true. You’ve received bad information and bad advice. Either walk-in to a place like Bang Sue Station or Bangkok Youth Center or schedule an appointment with the QueQ app.
  16. I got a Pfizer booster to go along with my Moderna vaccination from over 6 months ago. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting your shot today.
  17. I used it a couple weeks ago to get my choice of vaccinations, of which I chose Pfizer. My friends have also had success just walking into Bang Sue or the Bangkok Youth Center.
  18. Have you tried the QueQ app to book an appointment?
  19. I got my booster a couple weeks ago. My friends have gotten theirs since then. Download the QueQ app and schedule an appointment at whichever location is closest to you or just try to walk in to one of the bigger places like Bang Sue or the Bangkok Youth Center. There are several other options now but these seem to be the most successful.
  20. Latest update 16/12/2021 what a waste. How is a website like this supposed to help anyone. You can’t just take a snapshot of a moving target. It only adds to the confusion.
  21. She was approved but I’m still pending. It’s a good thing that immigration gave me all of her personal details so I could call and give her the good news. I emailed her TM47 to her. Maybe I’ll get some karma points the next time I have to visit immigration for my own stuff.
  22. My status is still pending after being able to submit my application over the weekend. The only update I’ve had is when the system somehow added some girl from Sri Lanka to my account, along with all of her personal information. Maybe it’s fate and she will be my Mia noi. Lol.
  23. I prefer “police hub” or “hub of police.”
