  1. I did have that idea. When I call, I get a menu saying "press 9 for English" and a bunch of other options, but pressing number keys on my phone has no effect, perhaps because I'm calling from the UK? The menu keeps repeating and I never get through.
  2. I'm trying to apply for LMG's health insurance as one of my visa requirements, but I'm not having much luck. I've downloaded their application form, printed it off, filled it in, and scanned it. I've tried sending it to a couple of their email addresses, but they aren't responding. Has anybody had any dealings with LMG? What steps am I supposed to follow to successfully apply for some insurance with them? I would give up and use somebody else, but their annual insurance is way cheaper than all the other companies.
  3. Put in "ordinary passport". For "Purpose of Visit", select "Duration of stay no longer than 90 days". You can now apply for an STV!!!
  4. Yeah, if zero fully-vaccinated tourists come, they can't spread their farang germs to hotel employees. The hotel employees are saved!
  5. "No alcohol!" "Must pay for Thai quarantine hotel!" "Must pay for Thai PCR test!" "Must pay for Thai insurance!" "Must fill in Thai paperwork!" "What you mean, you not come?! Thailand special!!!"
  6. They will finally drop all the requirements ... in November 2022. Meanwhile dozens of other countries will be taking all the tourist dollars that Thailand doesn't seem to want.
  7. Well done, you've ruined another high season for millions of Thai workers. Looks like Thailand will struggle to get 500,000 tourists this high season.
  8. Hmm ... so every shop, restaurant etc closes at 10PM now? Not ideal for tourists.
  9. The STV lasts for 3 months, with 2 optional 3 month extensions. I think you'd "only" need to book somewhere for the first 3 months. That said, it's a ridiculous requirement.
  10. What nighttime restrictions are currently in place in Phuket? Am I allowed to travel 24/7, or is this prevented by a curfew? Also, I'd be interested to know if Phuket's remaining 7/11s are open 24 hours a day.
  11. I'm booking a nice hotel for myself in the new 7-day Phuket Sandbox. If I was to make a new friend while I was there, could I invite her up to my hotel room to watch a movie one evening? If she became overcome with weariness, could I invite her to use my bed whilst I slept on the sofa like a gentleman?
  12. Has anyone who applied through the London Embassy been asked for proof of a return ticket? I was hoping that a one-way ticket would be sufficient.
  13. Thanks for all the posts, some really good information about what Kamala is like now ????
  14. The local convenience shops don't stock alcohol? How odd - a couple of years ago, there were several 7/11s selling alcohol, as well as the Tesco/Lotus and Big C, and the mom n pop shop on the main street.
  15. Thanks for all the helpful comments. How do the covid extensions work in practice? Do I just arrive at Phuket Immigration and say "I'd like a covid extension, please"?
  16. Thanks for the posts from the people who are currently in Phuket, very helpful. I know Kamala isn't "party central", a few hours of pool and beer is more than enough for me most of the time.
  17. I'm planning on heading back to Thailand via the Sandbox soon, and I was going to stay in Kamala, where I've spent time before. Is there any nightlife to speak of in Kamala? I know officially everything has closed down. If I wanted a light beverage and a game of pool on a Saturday night, would I be out of luck?
  18. I'm planning on heading to the Phuket Sandbox soon from the UK. Getting a Single Entry Tourist Visa seems to be the obvious choice, but to do it I need the following: Confirmed paid flights Confirmed paid accomodation Confirmed paid covid insurance Bank statement showing proof of funds If I do all this, presumably I'd have to wait 1-2 weeks for the Visa to come back, then I could start applying for the CoE, which could also take several days. Is applying for an SETV worth the hassle? I'm planning on staying in Thailand for several months, I'm prepared to get an ED visa or do whatever else is necessary.
