It is news to me, first time I read the story.   And I had to check again to get the facts, yes it was actually a road rage.

I have had some encounters with aggressive Thai males on the road myself , and once inside a shopping mall, I learned my lesson and I avoid any confrontations, I just say sorry and walk away.

My understanding is the Brit was unhappy with the way the Thai drove the car and banged on his car a couple of times . That was enough for the Thai to chase after him and kill him in cold blood.

I still remember one episode inside a shopping mall when I was unhappy with the service of one of the sales staff and I gave him the finger  and walked away.  That was 20 years ago and I was a newbie in Thailand.  He came after me and chased me for 1 hour, up and down the mall, I had to run for my life.  I managed to escape and never set foot inside that mall again .

So never provoke anyone,  even if it looks innocent it could be your last day.

People shouldn't have to live in fear of children in adult bodies that cannot control their emotions.

I drive this area on the Darkside all the time. SAFETY FIRST is right, the vehicles traveling parallel to sukhumvit and the railroad tracks have the right of way over traffic that is crossing. SUV driver showed no caution or defensive driving skills, same with the Swiss man

Not according to the road markings and signs.

Traffic travelling parallel to the railway tracks must stop at the intersections.

100 km from any chemical processing in Thailand, would be a long way from civilisation.

Maybe the poster should consider contacting Elon Musk, no chemical works on Mars, but wait you have that risk of the rocket and the fuel. 5555555

The Thai Government have already mandated that all those types of commercial activities will be restricted to the EEC on the Eastern Seaboard, and not permitted elsewhere in the country.

A long, long way to go before that is the reality, but that is the vision.

Yet    again commercial businesses in the residential areas.

A well known NDT company in Thailand keeps its radioactive sources in a house in a gated village in the suburbs of Bangkok. I have personally seen it.

There is absolutely no proper risk assessment done that factors in the danger to the public for most commercial activities in Thailand.

The fixed while line indicates the SUV has to stop and yield for 'anything'....

The flashing red light (at that junction) also indicates the SUV has to stop and yield for 'anything'.... (although I can't be certain that the traffic light was flashing at that time).

What is clear is that the SUV entered the junction without being prepared to stop or yield for anything....

It could have been a kid on a scooter, a pedestrian, a cyclist, a motorcyclist, a samlor, someone pushing a cart, another car.... a person on a mobility scooter.... It doesn't matter what it is.... IF there is something already in the junction the vehicle approaching (from the same direction as the SUV) has to stop.

I truly hope you do not drive....

This is quite common at this intersection and others along the railway line.

Impatient and ignorant morons that don't know or care about the rules of the road try to play chicken and blast through making the traffic that actually has the right of way stop.

The could sell ilegal black panther skins and meat along with a whole range of other protected animal species.

Better still run safari tours to shoot your own!

Chiang Mai Night Safari already tried that.

Kenyan conservationists reacted with anger yesterday to news that a Thai zoo to which animals are being exported in a controversial deal is planning to serve an exotic game buffet to VIP guests.

Guests at the opening of the Chiang Mai night safari zoo in northern Thailand will tuck in to a menu featuring tiger, lion, elephant and giraffe. Plodprasop Suraswadi, director of the zoo project, told reporters that guests will pay 4,500 baht (£64) each for a meal in which dishes range from locally reared dog meat to lion from Africa.

Kenya last week agreed to export over 100 wild animals to Thailand, including zebra, flamingoes, buffalo, wildebeest and hyena, despite protests by wildlife experts and Masai elders. None of the animals is from an endangered species.

It should be noted that it was endorsed by the then PM, Thaksin, who visited Kenya to strike the deal for the animals.

There's something that bothers me... scaling of immigration operations.

Every passenger on the plane has a ticket. They need to buy one before they board the plane. They already know their passport numbers, nationalities, visa requirements, etc which are all done by airlines at the checkin counters.

Surely by knowing exactly how many people are on each plane, and what's an average delay of a plane, who is transiting and who is going through immigration, they could scale the force accordingly?

That would involve proper management and supervision which Thailand no hab krup.

He informed Fehr the appeal will be denied and he should go home. He commented that the investigation should go forward w/o bribes or influence, not about Fehr's guilt or innocence. So the court understands it's to apply the law as it sees fit, doesn't matter long as it's objective.

And I do believe it really doesn't matter to Anutin. No matter the verdict, Fehr's leaving, good riddance. If he doesn't get time, he leaves even sooner.

By commenting, the Deputy PM is clearly influencing the process.

You are clearly letting your own emotions and feelings deny you logic here.

I remember back in the Regan years the star wars project lasers killing missiles ect ended up being a big porker of a contract from what I remember.that being said computers have evolved big time smaller faster ect ect perhaps they have made progress with the lasers as well hope so!the idea of hitting a moving object with a (light) seems a simpler concept than hitting a moving object with another object let’s hope it turns out to be viable !

Lasers will render hypersonic missiles obsolete overnight.

Such as the GT200 bomb detector that didn't work and was a scam. It fooled the Thai military government who spent millions on a device reportedly containing no inner workings. I wonder who made  money ordering them?🙄

I have a hard time believing that it really fooled anyone, even the Thais in charge at the time. It had no basis in scientific fact. Similar devices were being sold as novelty golf ball detectors.

IMO, it was bought because they knew it was a scam and could cream millions off the top of the purchase price.

The fact that many people, including a former PM and the country's leading forensic psychologist backed it, and that it was continued to be used in active service for so long, is a complete disgrace.

There should have been many in jail for this debacle, but as far as I know, there has been no-one ever found responsible in Thailand.

The guy behind the scam was sentenced to jail in the UK.

It's clearly a case of mental illness.

Responsible Thai media could actually make a showcase out of him to educate the public about mental illness, something that's not really known to most people and if it is, very taboo.

He should admitted to a psychiatric ward for treatment and once stabilized, sent home.

    Responsible Thai media?

    Educating the public?

    Psychiatric ward in Thailand?

Sorry Paul. Bad joke on my part. I realize the driving here isn’t what most foreigners are used to, but I am ok with it. When I made my move here I embraced everything about Thai culture and habits. I know that the more we want changes to reflect 1st world, the less enchanting life will be here. If my time is up due to some careless speeding drunk, that’s life. I love the chaos, the risks, the unknown. It’s what makes life interesting for me.

Thai people are dying by the dozens on the roads, and you are more concerned about your lifestyle.

There's nothing enchanting about losing a loved one in a road accident.

Pray that you never need to find that out for real.
