When I lived in Bangkok in my early 20's during the late 90's, we would be randomly stopped in taxis by Police all the time. Early 00's also. Around 2016-17 there were Police checkpoints on Asok-Rama 3, so every time I went out for a drink along Sukhumvit and was heading home at the wee hours, my taxi would be pulled over, and I would be searched. This happened about half a dozen times before I moved to Chonburi. You must have been extremely lucky.

I’m not female, but I have been spat at by a Thai (old Thai male) during a road rage incident. The old duffer tried to gob on me through an open window, after I bipped him for obstructing the middle lane when turning right. He got out the car ranting and raving about farangs, with all the disgusting verbiage you’d expect from a sub-100 IQ male of 70+ years. I drove off laughing as he exited his beater of an old Benz and attempted to spit through the window. You are not dealing with rational or mature people here.

If you thought political stability was on the horizon, you must have just stepped off the plane. Nothing is played fair here, and I mean NOTHING.

It could more easily be argued that the British prevented a wider conflict by keeping a further 11 Malay Sultanates out of Thai control.
-
Eh? They were Malay Sultanates before the border was finalised in 1909.
-
The four Southern provinces are predominantly Muslim Malay, and were ceded to Siam by Britain in the Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909. There's always going to be a bit of needle down there given the clash of cultures and the Thais control over what the majority of locals view as sovereign territory.

Could have served in Ukraine and have PTSD.

Thaiman Kwanpetch Out! Will this lead to protests? Calls for all foreigners to be investigated? Will the PM and Deputy PM get directly involved? Of course not. He'll be banged up and shagged silly in prison. Might not even be deported after his sentence either.

Police investigators have now filed charges of assault against Fehr which he has denied with investigators in the process of questioning two more eyewitnesses. https://thainewsroom.com/2024/03/04/senior-phuket-policeman-just-a-friend-of-a-friend-of-swiss-man-facing-charges/ Interesting article, apart from the denial of assault, he is pictured hob-nobbing with senior Thai Police in Phuket. *Bold is mine for emphasis.

Authorities have already withdrawn the licenses for a pistol and rifle. Mr Fehr owned the pistol, while the Elephant Foundation owned the rifle. https://www.chiangraitimes.com/news/elephant-sanctuary-in-phuket/ In the case of firearms, David possesses two firearms, a handgun, a Glock, and a rifle, and has a Grade 4 licence to own and use firearms after seeking authorization for buying and possessing them in the name of the foundation. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2024/03/08/the-david-effects-swiss-man-case-leads-for-more-inspections/
