It seems the symptoms are similar across all 3 categories, what's the point of this article?

Either method is fine.

Samui I do enjoy, Phuket not so much. Everyone has their own opinion on the best islands though, thanks for sharing.

I don't think I'd look in either place, too many two week millionaires, expats and sexpats around that set a profound precedent of being a walking ATM.
I think I'd start by spending time in Chiang Mai, Korat, or maybe even Udon Thani if you wanted to date a girl out of the trade. These places still have plenty of city infrastructure and farang oriented restaurants/businesses without having to live in the boondocks/sticks to date a country bumpkin.
Can always relocate later, but I think I'd start my search in a less well-traveled place than Hua Hin / Pattaya.

I'm personally very pleased with the 38:1 rate. Been sending some money over week after week, some higher some lower but still much better than the 29:1 we were getting just a year ago.

Our proposed security layers will consist of 1) border fence (with barbed wire or maybe a few electrified strands), 2) motion activated lighting and CCTV, 3) double glazed windows and digital door locks with dead bolts, 4) alarm system with motion sensors and sirens, and 5) a big dog or 2.
Is crime really that bad or is it just protective measures?

Nightlife kinda sucked and I met a lot of shady/odd characters.
Yep, that basically sums up Phuket / Bangla.

Well, if you intend to be with her for the long-term, then marry her and stop worrying about quantifiable benefits. Seems a bit of a silly reason to make or break getting married to a lady if you ask me... but to answer your question, no there really aren't many benefits.

I don't care for Prayuth, but Anutin sliding in I think might be worse...

I wasted mine by not having kids.
Thinking of having kids at this age asap or adopting.
Lots of Thai kids without parents or a family that wants them, good place to do it.

How many people like me who aren't really ready but don't want to stick out so much?
My wife and I have noticed we are sometimes the only people that wear them indoors in crowded areas anymore. I may just stop, you can definitely feel the weight of all the eyes glaring at you wondering what the hell is wrong with you. I am over it, I just don't like being sick, even with the flu.

Interesting, but I would really like to know what you think a comfortable monthly retirement wage would be in the UK.
Yes for sure far more, no argument there ????
