6 yrs from start to finish.. I can recall many here who applied in Dec 2018 and got their ID card within 3 yrs. Dont understand why it took so long for you. -

That is true, if you are inside Thailand. If outside Thailand and dont return by the last day of the under consideration stamp, your extension is gone. -

Yes. They just copy all the info from their Thai National ID card. Documents needed - carry original Thai ID card + Fitness certificate from a Thai Doctor Must pass written test, physical, motor skills, vision etc. Fee is around 255 baht for a 2 years Temp Licence, after 2 years can convert to Permanent Licence with 5 yrs validity -
