  1. ‘Not just another wave’: Australia’s Covid hospitalisations reach record levels in several states Experts warn of worse to come, with most states likely several weeks away from peak hospitalisation rates https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jul/16/not-just-another-wave-australias-covid-hospitalisations-reach-record-levels-in-several-states Around 1 in 25 report long COVID with Omicron after three vaccines 18 July 2022 Around 1 in every 25 adults who were triple vaccinated reported long COVID 12 weeks after being infected with the Omicron variants BA.1 or BA.2. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/articles/coronaviruscovid19/latestinsights WHO: Covid-19 Triples Across Europe, Hospitalisations Double Earlier this week, editors of two British medical journals said that at no other time in the country's National Health Service have so many parts of it been so close to collapse. https://www.outlookindia.com/international/who-covid-19-triples-across-europe-hospitalisations-double-news-210404 Super-infectious relatives of the Omicron variant have been driving the new wave of disease across the continent, with repeated infections potentially leading to long COVID. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/7/19/who-warns-pandemic-not-over-as-covid-triples-across-europe Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told a White House press briefing on 12 July that the seven day average number of hospital admissions for covid-19 was now about 5100, double the number in early May.1 https://www.bmj.com/content/378/bmj.o1770
  2. As I understand it that's the status quo in Thailand now. Last night I even saw one of the local 711 staff not wearing a mask late at night.
  3. Be careful. Half the drugs you're on would probably have to be stopped during treatment with paxlovid. Important ones like blood pressure and anti-coagulants.
  4. Oh, that's real easy. Refusal to get vaccinated results in more people dying than otherwise would have, hence the crazed retards epithet. It isn't a personal rights issue, it's a public health and safety issue amid a dangerous and high;y contagious disease.
  5. The situation hasn't changed at all in that year.
  6. I agree. What he will learn is what we already know and that is that if American employers didn't employ these illegal immigrants then there wouldn't be an illegal immigrant problem. The real cause of the problem is that employers are rarely charged, fined or jailed for employing illegal immigrants. It should be easy. In Australia, the fine is tens of thousands of dollars per person employed. Continued employment of non citizens is not possible. The problem? Those illegal immigrants are needed by American employers. Those tomatoes ain't gonna pick themselves. Southern farmers have been employing illegal immigrants with impunity since the get go. [1940's] The government turned a blind eye to Texans’ employment of these undocumented immigrants, even after hiring undocumented workers was declared illegal. despite the best efforts of the United States and Mexico during Operation Wetback, many workers simply returned to the United States again and again. Undocumented farm workers make up approximately 50% of the farm labor workforce. https://trac.syr.edu/immigration/reports/559/ https://www.fwd.us/news/immigrant-farmworkers-and-americas-food-production-5-things-to-know/ https://www.history.com/news/operation-wetback-eisenhower-1954-deportation
  7. Masks do reduce transmission, quite significantly. Those links have been produced here many, many times. Links showing masks don't work have never been produced on this forum.
  8. The probability that Biden didn't talk to climatologists before making this announcement? Zero.
  9. Odd? How odd is it for stepfathers to rape their daughters? Hint: it isn't.
  10. Trump pressured Saudi Arabia to reduce oil production to help Russia. At the same time he auctioned off oil leases in environmentally sensitive areas in the US. Special Report: Trump told Saudi: Cut oil supply or lose U.S. military support - sources As the United States pressed Saudi Arabia to end its oil price war with Russia, President Donald Trump gave Saudi leaders an ultimatum. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-global-oil-trump-saudi-specialreport-idUSKBN22C1V4
  11. All articles about the MWP state that it wasn't world wide. Before you challenge for a link, why not do at least a tiny bit of research? From a google search at the top of the first page The Medieval Warm Period (MWP), also known as the Medieval Climate Optimum or the Medieval Climatic Anomaly, was a time of warm climate in the North Atlantic region that lasted from c. 950 to c. 1250.
  12. Former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has now been ordered to testify before a special grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia that is investigating former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Via NPR's Stephen Fowler, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis sent out an order compelling Giuliani's appearance as a witness in the grand jury's investigation. The order notes that Giuliani "failed to appear at a show cause hearing" that was supposed to take place earlier this month, and thus has left Willis no choice but to order his testimony on August 9th, 2022. https://www.rawstory.com/rudy-giuliani-georgia-2657701786/
  13. That's because, right or wrong, truth or lies, Trump gives voice to their racist, white privilege agenda of anti immigration and anti globalist policies. They understand that a popular vote win is outside their grasp now and so embrace fascism as the only path to political power. Bottom line, the more wack job his conspiracy theories and lies are the less they need to defend them with truth and logic. None of them believe the lies and they don't care. The playbook has been written now, started under Dubbya and completed under Trump. Others now see they can follow the recipe and play it smarter than Trump. We are headed for another 1930's both politically and economically.
  14. Much superior to a constitution in my opinion. A document written 120 years ago can only be changed on a referendum with a 2/3 majority - what a joke.
  15. hmm, it could be they are trying to price the all day drinkers out of the place. Street front seating is at a premium there.
  16. In a tourist restaurant on the tourist strip no less. SB is now becoming the tourist hub of Pattaya. This will be a continuing trend. You almost can't slip a razor blade between LK and WS prices.
  17. Probably similar to Australia, an election can be called early anytime the PM wants to. I'm in favour of fixed terms unless supply is lost.
  18. What you are describing is a republic, the UK is a parliamentary democracy. The incumbent PM has nothing to do with general elections. The advantage of the current system is that the PM can be changed easily.
  19. BA.2.75? Every other country is saying that BA.4 and BA.5 are the current most common varieties and they are significantly more virulent that previous viruses. Infections are rising fast world wide. Protective masks DO work, anything else is misinformation and if you want to claim otherwise you need to provide a link.
  20. Those numbers would logically be higher without masks and vaccines. BA.4 and BA.4 are now the most dominant strains and much more infectious than any previous strain of coronavirus.
  21. A stroll through Pattaya's LK Metro indicates that they must be legal.
  22. In general it extends the period of disqualification for a licence and increases the fines. This is how I'd imagine the system works. My educated guess is based on Thai law being generally similar to that of the UK.
