  1. its called being different from the norm..if everyone rode the same bike ,things would be very boring and there would be no such things as motorcycle shows, bike weeks rallies etc

I understand what you are trying to say however in the OP's picture all the motorcycles have extended forks and all look the same. So not only is it boring but it also serves no function and actually inhibits the rider while on the road.

  2. MRT have a look in the Thai visa classifieds theres a 1999 one that has green book 185thou.

Anthony i was having a joke. you've met Trent so should know what i mean :o

    Allan

it is a bit more than i am wanting to pay. maybe i can stop eating for a few months though.

  3. Also an R1 for street use in Bangkok, are you mad. I know someone that uses a XJR1300 in BKK but he is MADD so no problem :o

    Allan

was looking at CBR400's and stumbled across this. A bargain is hard to pass up, but I am skeptical on this one, all other R1's are going for twice this. I think I'll keep looking at CBR's. Perhaps a VFR even. Would eventually like to get a 1000cc when my budget agrees with me. For now I'll have to be a bit more sensible. Unfortunately because I am a bit mad.

  4. There was one in Pattaya recently changed hands for 120k, no book,.people seem to be more worried about no papers now and the price seems to be coming down,.

what would it cost to get a book on it. i would want it for street use in bangkok.

  5. I've been looking at sport bikes for the last month and came across a 2001 Yamaha R1 for 145,000 baht. Is that within the realm of possibility or could it be a stolen bike. I found it on a Thai classifieds website.

edit: deleted the link cause if this is a good deal then I don't want someone to snatch it away from me. I want it but I'm skeptical. Wondering if there is any way to verify it's validity???

    edit2: uploaded the picture.

  6. Hello...

WOuld appreciate advice or any information that anyone has concerning custody and divorce in Thailand.

My husband is Thai, I am Canadian. Our son was born this past October in Canada and we have all his Canadian papers but nothing in Thai yet. His father is named on his Canadian birth certificate.

I am considering divorcing my husband as he has been very uninvolved when it comes to financial matters. He does not have a job nor does he contribute in any way towards anything financial. There are many other personal matters that have led me to believe divorce is the best option for all involved, but I do not want our son to have to go between countries all the time, so I would prefer sole custody. Our marriage has been very short lived as we were only married in March 2008, in Bangkok. Since that time everything has been horrible (except for the birth of my son).

I just want to know what the chances are that a Thai court would give me sole custody of my son. Or, would they give preference to my husband because he is Thai?

Must I go to Thailand to get a divorce or can I seek one from Canada?

I have contacted several lawyers regarding this matter (both here in Canada and in Thailand) and am waiting for their replies but of course if anyone has any first hand experience with the matter it would also be good to know.

    Thanks so much!

you sound very thai. when things aren't going well financially you want to split.

to answer your question though... thailand has no child abduction laws when it comes to married couples. take your kid back to canada, problem solved. if you want to stay in thailand then good luck to you.

  7. Everyone get off your computers right now and go look at the big smiley face in the sky. There are some planets that are just above the moon that look like eyes.

  8. If he steps down the terrorists win!

    Exactly!

Wrong, those with adequate education and business acumen wins, not the riff raff who are endemically stupid, together with their farang sympathisers obviously

oh that's right, a democracy is only for the elite. thanks for reminding me, i completely forgot. people with less education and less money have no right in politics, including voting for a candidate. right???

so if Somchai steps down then those brilliant educated thais with money will have won after damaging the entire countries economy and reputation. but that's ok because they are the good guys, right?

  9. here is the ipconfig information in windows. i'll have to do a reboot to switch into ubuntu for you but i don't have much time until tomorrow. (i added some "*" symbols to maintain a bit of security concerning my mac addresses)

  10. try running under a different (new) user and see if it still persists.

i tried mandriva, a totally different distribution and the problem is the same. i'm guessing now that the server is using microsoft protocols of some sort. i would really like to have a look at their router and server to see if there is some setting.

  11. What is your reason for saying its a port 80 problem.

because everything else works including https, port 110 is fine, i can send and recieve emails. http does not work. synaptic, updates, aptitude all don't work and fail when they try to connect to a server using port 80.

to make matters more complicated i tried mandriva today and have the same results. i know that it is my network, this problem began when they changed their system. they don't know how to fix it though. i am curious now if they would let me have a look at their router.

  12. i'm currently downloading mandriva. maybe a different distribution will do the trick. looks like fedora 10 comes out in a few days so maybe i will put it off until then.

  13. port 80 is http. I dont understand why you cant use it. Its not because of your apartment... surely?

I dont think thats the problem. Try a command line call using port 80. The problem will be in your settings somewhere. I may be wrong but cant yet see why this is because of problems with port 80. Unless you suddenly wrote some bad rules in iptables.

booting from the CD has the same results. it is very strange and i can't figure out why port 80 would be working fine in windows and not in linux unless it was my setup, however everything was working fine until the apartment decided to update their system. Their IT support was worthless since they have never seen a linux OS before.

  14. get you own internet.

or get a gongle and steal some wireless from elsewhere.

that may or may not solve my port 80 problem. i'll come across a solution eventually.
