This has been sorted with the help of a lawyer. To the apologists like the one in the post above, i was right. Because TiT doesn't mean Thai banks don't have to follow financial laws. They must keep financial records for 5 years and be able to provide it when requested. Most banks archive these records after 5 years, you know anti-money laundering regulations and all... Never agai nwill we deal with a Thai bank or Thai financial institution. You guys can have it. ????

My wife needs proof that she paid for something a few years ago, so she went to kasikorn bank to request a bank statement from that specific period. The account had been closed a year ago but that shouldn't matter. Clerk: "No hab!" Supervisor: "mai mee!" Manager: "sent to vault, buried very deep, cannot get". Banks are legally obligated to keep all financial records for 10 years, at least in my country! I suppose it's the same in Thailand. What can we do? Get a lawyer involved? This is exactly one of the reasons why we left Thailand, the incompetence, the laziness and bureaucracy when it comes to dealings like this. So frustrating.

Yeah, i've considered it but the car already lost 65 ~ 70% of its value since we bought it new 9 years ago. Wife also has a hard time letting go of material things... ???? haha. Nah, once the pandemic is a bit under control then we plan to visit Thailand again for holidays once or twice a year. We prefer to have our own car than renting one.

I'll look into that fuel stabilizer. Why disconnect the battery if someone starts the car once a month or so? And yes, it's under a roof.

Our car will be left idle again for 2 years or so, we don't plan to visit Thailand until then as we now live in the EU, and we don't feel like traveling during this pandemic. What can be done to minimize breakdown? What we're doing now: - Car parked in a carport, roof / shadow covers the car but during a short time sunlight (UV) hits the wheels. - PVC car cover. - Have someone turn on the engine and air conditioning for 15 minutes once a month. The Michelin tires which we purchased 3 years ago (only driven for 2000km) already show some small cracks, probably dried up or damaged by UV light it was standing idle the past few years. Is it wise to lift the car? Are there any other things we can do for leaving a car in such a hot climate?

She may suffer from an underlying auto-immune disease like SLE or the variant discoid lupus which is more confined to the skin, although she should have some other symptoms too. SLE is prevalent in Thailand and often overlooked. It's proven that COV19 vaccine may trigger an auto-immune flare in people with underlying SLE, rapid hair loss is a classic symptom of the disease.

This is going to be a <deleted>show. The sensitivity and accuracy of ATK testing is way below that of PCR testing. And not just that, the ATK's are made in China and of low quality as proven. There are going to be lots of people being tested false positive or false negative. Probably more false positive than false negative because the requirement to have a negative PCR test 72-hour before boarding is still required. What will they do if someone tests (false)-positive with ATK? Forced quarantine and immediately follow up with a PCR test? Force quarantine and PCR-test everyone that were seated next/front/behind the (false)-positive tested person? What if it's a family? Quarantine everyone? Who's going to pay for all of that if the ATK result were to be false positive after a negative PCR result? For sure not the Thai scammy insurance companies. This government has chickenbrains. Just drop the whole testing after arrival, double vaxxed and 1 negative PCR test pre-boarding, just make it 48h and that should be sufficient! Anything extra increases the likelihood for errors and drama!

When i still lived in Thailand (pre-covid era) with my wife we often went to visit shopping malls in BKK. Call me weird but i enjoyed strolling in those gigantic complexes, people watching, being called hansum, having a bite and then watch a movie at SF cinema or major cinema. I just stumbled upon a few video's on youtube about some guys walking through the malls like MBK, paragon, central word, emporium etc. It looks so dead, with sometimes an eerie feeling to it. Do Thai not visit the malls anymore because of fear to catch COVID, or simply because of economic reasons? I know most of you guys dread these malls, but Thai love 'em. It's just so strange to see an empty MBK with lots of shops shuttered. It reminds me of this guy on youtube named Dan Bell, his channel is mainly dedicated to documenting dead malls in the US, very apocalypse-like.

A little update on the aircon problem: Mazda dealer mechanic says it's clogged and compressor needs to be replaced, (wife said condenser but i think she means compressor?). Total 16k THB. He recommended my wife to have it evacuated, cleaned and repaired at a specialized air con service garage, should be much cheaper. 16k is not that bad actually, i was expecting repairs to cost between 40 to 60k.

Surpirise, B-quick did recommend new tyres. ???? Two other places said the tyres were just fine. It has not been parked in the sun. In a carport, covered with a PVC carcover. I'm not sure if the sunlight hit the tyres on certain times during the say, i guess not.

2012 mazda 3, 1.6 L , 65.000 km. It's quite a sturdy car, we never had any engine problems in all those years. Actually we never had to replace anything really, except for the tyres and aircon cleaning & refill. Not sure what the failed transmission line is made of but it has already been repaired and the oil changed. less than 3500k THB total. This was a mazda affiliated garage but they couldn't fix the aircon problem, the mechanic tried to refill it but the gas wouldn't get inside. The garage has no spare parts for the aircon unit in stock so he recommended my wife to go to the official mazda dealer. Probably just dirty / clogged up?

I ended up buying travel insurance from my country, much better policy than any Thai insurer gives.

Damage: - Oil transmission pipe is busted, leaking oil and needs to be changed. I think this is quite cheap to have replaced? - Air conditioning is not working. Wife translated what mechanic told her. "hold system"??? I don't know what that's supposed to mean. What could an air conditioning system to fail after being idle for a couple of years?

Yeah, but you know what free health care means yes? She'll be sent off to a field hospital or a government hospital, no way buddy. We only want a private hospital if anything happens.

I just tried to get the COVID AXA insurance for my Thai wife but Thailand is not mentioned in the nationality list. Looks like Thais are excluded from the COVID insurance. I know Thais traveling to Thailand are not required to get insurance, and she's covered by our EU national health insurance anyway but still... I'd feel more at rest if she has extra insurance which also covers asymptomatic cases.

I'm still unsure if any insurance at all will cover a negative tested, forcibly quarantined person. Why isn't the TH gov. clear about this situation? It will be a <deleted>show once word gets out. Situation: you followed all bureaucratic and draconian steps to meet all requirements of the Thailand pass, double vaxxed, tested negative twice but then by bad luck the passenger next to you tests positive. You then either forcibly follow a quarantine program in your hotel or hospitel for 14 days, ruining your holiday and costing you a lot of money, or standing ground and ending up in IDC immigration prison. ????

Did they ring you back? What if you test negative but someone seated next to you in the airplane or van to the hotel tested positive? Does AXA cover that as well? Because you will be quarantined...

Does anyone know which insurer also covers asymptomatic quarantine in a private hospital? My wife is visiting TH soon but she has some serious underlying health problems. If she were to be infected with corona then it would be wiser for her to be admitted to a private hospital until she tests negative than waiting it out in a hotel room. My Thai wife's basic health insurance (EU) covers any costs incurred worldwide, a travel/covid insurance is not really needed but to be sure i want to get her one anyway.

Everything has worked out. It caused some stress and too much of my time but the thailand pass has been received. I uploaded the agoda booking confirmation only to the tp website. The confirmation shows PCR-test and airport pickup is included in the total price.

FIY: The confirmation email may end up in your junk/spam folder. It happened to me, using gmail. Check your spam folder! Let's hope thailandpass has made some effort to whitelist their sending email addresses. It probably has already been blacklisted by microsoft (hotmail/live/outlook) due to suspicion of spam. I can totally see that happening.
