At age 70+, my version of the Serenity Prayer: God give me the courage to change the things I can ... and screw the rest.

Vices needed in life
I agree. Sometimes my hand shakes so much I can hardly get a spoonful of soup from bowl to mouth. Something like this comes in handy:

Per the above: 103-year-old Maine 'Lobster Lady' signs up for 95th year hauling traps Maine's 103-year-old "Lobster Lady" has signed up for a 95th year at the job, NEWS CENTER Maine reported. Virginia “Ginny” Oliver, known as Maine's oldest lobster harvester, began hauling traps before the Great Depression, at 8 years old, with her father and older brother. Oliver, who celebrated her 103rd birthday this week with friends and family, will still lobster for the 2023 season, according to the outlet. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/06/09/virginia-oliver-senior-lobster-lady-maine/70307294007/

Why don't we cook more?
My wife and her family ARE in the food business. Last thing she wants to do after work is cook.
-
Why don't we cook more?
I check out online recipes and youtube cooking a bit but it is annoying that most every one says "This is the best meat loaf recipe ever" or "I made this and the family ate it all up and wanted more."
-
Why don't we cook more?
Agree. Most things I cook for myself I try to have 3-4 meals out if it.

Life insurance?
One advantage: Life insurance policies in Thailand are payable-upon-death to beneficiaries without probate. Bank accounts will involve probate.

Medical Preexisting Condition
Recently? What is a bone spur? A bone spur, also called an osteophyte, is a smooth, bony lump that grows off a bone. Bone spurs develop over long periods of time, usually near joints (where two or more bones meet). https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/10395-bone-spurs-osteophytes

What was the outcome when your daughter found out your TGF was younger than her?
At age 70, I went to the US Embassy Bangkok for the affirmation to marry. I handed to the older Embassy consular the form with the box checked Single - Never Married. The guy looked at it over a bit and said: Are you SURE you want to sign that under oath? that you have NEVER been married? So like the old Volkswagen ad: No radiator problems. No radiator No problem with children from prior marriages. No children.

When does it become time to put money aside in a separate account and self insure?
What is referred to on here as self-insurance is really self-pay. Insurance involves the sharing of risk and at least the possibility of getting back in paid claims more than you put in as premiums. With self-insurance, as used on here, what you got is what you got.

Why you should never leave a negative hotel review in Thailand
I agree. In LOS -- where someone can be shot close range over a parking dispute -- I try not to cause ill will to anyone.

You said "likely" with no "it depends" qualifier.

When does it become time to put money aside in a separate account and self insure?
You wrote earlier this topic: 'Those insured should also be self insured as a "claim denied" is likely and common.' * As you asked before on this topic about some detail for the 5M baht self-insurance account , how about some detail on your 'likely' reference above: Likelihood of an outcome or result: "Virtually certain" means greater than a 99 percent probability of occurrence. "Extremely likely" means greater than 95 percent. "Very likely" means greater than 90 percent. "Likely" means greater than 66 percent. "More likely than not" means greater than 50 percent. "About as likely as not" means 33 to 66 percent. "Unlikely" means less than 33 percent. https://www.ipcc.ch/site/assets/uploads/2017/08/AR5_Uncertainty_Guidance_Note.pdf * https://aseannow.com/topic/1299265-when-does-it-become-time-to-put-money-aside-in-a-separate-account-and-self-insure/?do=findComment&comment=18172290
