Covid-Exempt for „longstayers“
lolalol replied to Jellybelly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I don't really understand this part. The IO could've just given the stamp, instead of saying that things will change. -

covid Visa extension Denied
lolalol replied to freesudani's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well my destination country is still requesting mandatory quarantine & pre-departure covid test. Recently they have started asking for 48 hours pre departure test instead of 72 hours. I know that there are many countries opening up and getting over with this pandemic. But there are countries still not decided with which way to go. I don't even think Thailand has made up its mind yet neither. Instead of rushing to kick people out, I think they should take it a little slower. I read that in most countries current Covid wave will hit the next high sometime in February or March. And sometime in April or May, life will start to get back to normal. Or maybe life must get back to normal. Regardless of severity of the pandemic, people like me are under the grace of government policy making. -
covid Visa extension Denied

Well, what about for someone who entered the country with tourist visa and didn't change visa type and continued getting covid extension??? Will things be different? -
covid Visa extension Denied

Ah... I'm a bit confused....and worried..... I have until late March to leave. But according to the recent announcement I can apply for another extension. So I can reapply for another one right? (entered via Tourist Visa)... And when I apply for another extension in late March, I just need to fulfill some of the listings on affidavits of covid extension right? What you are saying is for the people who want to stay in Thailand after the government stop issuing the covid extension right? Or will I need to fulfill 'standard' reasons for my covid extension application in late march?... -
covid Visa extension Denied

So you are talking about the list of reason for extension on the "affidavit and other papers" we sign at the immigration for the covid extension? So 'Pandemic is still ongoing back home & etc.' is good enough for another extension? -
Sigh.... So what does this new extension rules mean for us? We have until March 26th to apply for another extension, and get 60 more days? So those who are granted can stay up to late May??? Also, how soon can I apply for an extension? I usually hear 30 days. But an IO once told me 45 days, but that was a long time ago.

I recommend you to recheck the new 'covid extension' requirements. I think I read that it will only be given to those who originally entered the country via 'visa exemption' and 'tourist visa'.... In the other facebook forum, I read that those who currently have 'covid extension' but entered the country via other visas will not be given 60 day extension but instead 10 day extension. I'm not sure of the situation, this is what I've gathered so far...

Better to go sooner than later IMO. I've noticed that people are more likely to bump into more problems when they apply for the extension closer to the deadline. IOs know that those people will consider using visa agency when they bump into trouble at the immigration when they have little visa time left. If I were you I wouldn't wait until the last day. Better and cheaper to do it now and maybe get another extension later. Just my opinion.

I also sensed that there is a money grabbing strategy going on. People seem to bump into more trouble when they apply for an extension closer to the deadline. Initially I didn't think that the government would be in this too, but now I feel like it is possible that there are some kind of understanding between parties within the government. Just my gut feeling.
