  1. 1) Please what is the tourist visa fee for Thai citizens entering Laos WITH a passport? 2) What are the total fees for Thai citizens entering Laos on a 3 day border pass WITHOUT a passport?
  2. Wow my post went viral! Even featured on the aseannow facebook page. I read all the comments - I’m not sure if I should feel good or foolish, probably a little of both. Anyway I’m on the bus coming back to Bangkok from my weekend in Isaan. Her family was super nice and welcoming and generous. I gave 1000 baht to them which was probably more than returned by cooking me meals buying me beer driving me around etc. They did not ask me for money or pressure me in any way. It is clear they have a challenging financial situation and would want me to help if I got closer to their daughter, but I am not as much of a sucker as many people in this group think I am. I also speak and read Thai and Lao languages so that helps reduce “misconceptions” and manage expectations. I like the sex and warmth I have with the daughter, let’s see how long it will last. I won’t be buying a house in her name any time soon but I am glad to spend my time and a little bit of money to make sure she is alright while we were together and so far compensation has been more than returned 5555. Peace out lol.
  3. My new gf, divorced and working for an insurance company in Bangkok and a mother of 2 young children that live with her parents (children’s grandparents) in a city in Isaan wants me to visit her family for the weekend . She actually invited me the first time after only 1 week of dating but I turned her down then. This time I feel a bit uncomfortable but have agreed. Fwiw, I have been supporting her financially somewhat as well and her son is sick with long COVID, but have explained that there are limits. There are several other red flags I am feeling in the relationship but do feel I love her. Feedback welcome. Thank you everyone
  4. I'm looking for a great international hotel buffet, whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Four or five star would be great but qny ideas welcome.
  5. My flight arrives at Don Meuang at 21:45 Monday night. Is there a way to get to Pattaya that evening, such as a bus that leaves from near Don Meuang? Not looking for a taxi Cheers.
  6. I will do a holiday in Phuket with some friends. I would like to have my bicycle with me during the trip. Does anyone know the approximate cost to send a mountain bike from Nong Khai to Phuket either by Thai post or a shipping service like Kerry Express? (I'm unable to check myself because I live in Vientiane and will cross over with my bicycle) Does it cost a couple hundred baht or a couple thousand baht? I would not be disassembling it or putting it in a box. And could it arrive quickly like in 1-2 days?
  7. Thanks for the helpful info @action. I'm looking to build a hybrid/gravel bicycle but with Flat Bar handlebars. I would like a lightweight bicycle but that can take some potholes and gravel as there is a lot of this where I live. I'm currently on a fullblown MTB but using it for the road and it is overkill, as it's very heavy. I have a 70,000 baht budget for everything. My local bike repair shop (they repair but don't sell parts) told me they thought I would get a better bang for the buck if I bought all the parts online at promotion or discount prices and then had the shop assemble them, rather than buy a complete bicycle. So I am in the very early stages of this....
  8. I'm looking for some websites to get good deals on frames, shifters, cassettes, and all bicycle parts in the hope of ordering and having my local mechanic assemble a DIY bike. I'm familiar with Probike but hope there are some others that perhaps sell less well known and more economically priced frames and parts.
  9. Does anyone know if this exists in Thailand and/or it's possible to obtain? I think it would help me.
  10. Hello I am thinking of taking my bicycle on the train from Nong Khai to Bangkok. Is this possible, how much is it, and are there any details I need to know? Used to be possible, no box or folding needed, but that was 10 years ago.
  11. Thanks for the information Sheryl. Just one clarification; it actually comes in a pill form as well. From the official website: "RYBELSUS® (semaglutide) tablets 7 mg or 14 mg is a prescription medicine used along... "
  12. I've heard great things about the new weight loss medicine Semaglutide, which goes under the brand name Rybelsus in pill form in some places. Does anyone know if this is available in Thailand and if so, where? Preferably in pill, not injection form. Cheers
  13. Has anyone noticed anything odd while using Bitkub recently such as difficulty withdrawing or otherwise? Just asking giving the FTX meltdown and contagion.
  14. Opiods such as opium, codeine, heroine, fentanyl are very addictive, you would understand if you tried on a recreational basis. It gives you a feeling that everything is good and happy in mild form and a euphoric rush if a bit stronger. Takes the pain away too, hence it being used in the hospital. MDMA may be similar chemically to yaaba but from personal experience it is not super addictive. A lot of care needs to be had taking it though. Ketamine is not an opioid, it's a dissassociative, and its effect is very different; at low dosages it helps you enjoy the party and puts the beats in sync, at higher dosages it is somewhat psychedelic and you can experience yourself leaving your body, it's a bit hard to describe and different variants give different effect. At high dosages its numbing and you don't feel pain, hence it being used during surgery.
  15. The war on drugs needs to be rethought; it’s responsible for terrible violence and corruption and lack of education due to the war on drugs is responsible for deaths and overdoses as well as ingesting unintended substances or dangerous amounts. Society needs a new way - personally I am for decriminalization and social education on drugs. Furthermore, the drugs received (mdma) is typically not much more dangerous than cannabis unless too much is inadvertently taken, and cannabis was just legalized. You can abuse either but more people abuse cannabis than mdma. Mdma is a party drug and while it does have some addictive qualities, it isn’t at the level of something like fentanyl or yaaba.
