Sending money out of Thailand with Wise
dabhand replied to Eibot's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Is a WP a new requirement from Deemoney? I set up an account with them maybe a couple of years back and only needed ID proof (passport) and, I believe, address proof (Thai driving licence). All done remote and with mobile OTP verification. Have recently (last couple of months) been sending funds to my UK bank with no additional requirement for proof of visa / WP. -
Was there today (11th) for my 2nd AZ. Was due at 13.00 but arrived around 12.40. Virtually no-one there at the form filling / registration desk / jab location. Sailed right through without any queues. Maybe 20 sitting in the 'recuperation' zone. Finished my 30 minute sit-down and immediately collected my vaccine certificate having had my number called on their speaker system. All done by 13.20. Nice job, BHP. I had parked on the 5th floor and then found that the 6th floor entrance was not open - had to go down to the 4th floor, which was no issue to me. Had a nice wander around the place after finishing, not been for many months so took in some rather pleasant sights....... Checked the MP app and all updated. Happy days.

I have used a lawyer at Thai Euro Law (opposite side entrance to Big C on South Pattaya , near Key Visa office). He is a registered Notary and have used him for signing off legal docs for India plus the UK state pension Life certificate. Charged me 500 baht in the recent past (end of 2020) and fast service.

Yup, believe that agent was the same guy who attacked the Regents teacher in Pattaya a few years back. This article mentions both the attack (he was 'jailed' for six years but eventually fled Thailand whilst on bail) and the visa scam from 2007. Obviously a charming fellow. As I recall no 'customers' were deported, only ending up a bit lighter in their pockets. https://www.chiangraitimes.com/crime-chiang-rai-thailand/pattaya-expat-sean-tinsley-jailed-for-six-years-over-assault-of-british-teacher-adam-pickles/

Sterling ...UK Pound dropped below 45
dabhand replied to worgeordie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Try October 1984. It actually dropped into the 27's in that period as well. I was in Thailand for a few months in 2nd half of 1984 and well recall the low GBP/THB rate around that time. -
This TPN article suggests that all the ATK tests (40-70 in number) were false. That's if this is the same Mukdahan school. If so, doesn't say much for the reliability of the ATK tests............... https://thepattayanews.com/2021/11/05/three-educational-institutions-in-thailand-temporarily-closed-after-suspected-covid-19-cluster-and-infections-found-shortly-after-reopening/

Similarly any auditor who has found evidence of fraud and intends to disclose his findings, The 1999 murder of Australian auditor, Michael Wansley, was a sad case in point. https://www.nationthailand.com/national/30254847

Have a look at this topic in the Banking forum. Requesting Wise to 'tag' your Bangkok Bank account seems to work. It certainly did for me and a number of other posters, for now anyway. https://aseannow.com/topic/1234763-wise-transfers-not-being-processed-as-international-specifically-bangkok-bank/

I had similar good service from my Wise contact, Samra, who passed my tagging request to 'the team' on 17th October and was confirmed to me within 24 hours. Since then have had 3 transfers sent with perfect results (direct to BBank (with FTT notation), unlike those sent from 8th October up to when tagging applied.

From memory, sent a scanned copy of passport ID page and I was contacted by a DM rep on my mobile to verify my contact details. May be more now as that was a couple of years back. Have recently sent a transfer to UK (around Bt50k) and all done via apps (QR code from my Thai Bank after setting up the transfer on the DM app. No info required on source of funds but that may change on larger sums. Works for me.

DeeMoney, as mentioned above, may work but it does have a Bt800k daily limit. I have used them a number of times for transfers to UK, but far less that your requirement (around Bt400k in total). Once registered no demand for any paperwork to show source of funds /visa or WP status, but that may depend on value of transfer / multiple transfers. My transfers, if set-up around 8am, were in my UK bank same working day by around 4pm Thai time. They are running an iPhone 13 promotion just now for cumulative transfers of Bt5m until 31Jan22 so that seems to imply they may have no issues with multiple high value transfers. https://blog.deemoney.com/iphone13airpodpro/?fbclid=IwAR2E2LNtTNO1nfTOilyFJi9GJewlA9m7-P020Ruu0aZHBgUtLH2kxIbRxFE

Bangkok Bank Online banking crash
dabhand replied to RubbaJohnny's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
The App working fine for me just now. -
They seem to have the appointment based bookings fairly well organised. The earlier congestion issues appear to be mainly connected with walk-ins where they have misjudged the high demand. Haven't seen walk-ins repeated so may have learnt their lesson. Good luck. I am due my 2nd AZ jab early next month but at Building D at BPH, which was well organised for the 1st one.

Money in bank vanished
dabhand replied to john smith's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Same happened to me in KL some years back. I was there for a few days on business and used my CC for a cash advance (at MBB ATM near Lot 10). Travelled back to uk for a few days at my HO before heading back to my base in Cairo. Tried to use the card at LHR duty free departure. It was rejected and used other card then contacted my CC bank (Natwest), They informed me that my card had been blocked after numerous cash advances had been taken. I confirmed only had one advance and they cancelled the card and eventually refunded the extra charges. Amounted to about Stg3k. Malaysia is a well known hotspot for such fraud and likely why my bank had no issues with the refund. Was surprised that the ATM pulls were allowed to go to a level that was above my daily limit so possibly some internal issues with MBB that allowed that. -
Just a quick search brought up this article on countries requiring covid insurance coverage upon entry. Likely to be many more..... https://www.squaremouth.com/destinations

For those with Thai friends / relations this may be of interest. BHP, Pattaya are offering Sinovax / AZ combo for various dates in October. Registration at their Thai language facebook page. Restrictions may apply (eg 40+) but info is in Thai............... https://www.facebook.com/bphhospital/posts/4736563669708599
