  1. Not really related but my wife got a US tourist visa (I'm a UK citizen) as I (unfortunately) had to visit there for work back in 2018, very easy, in the documents submitted was my passport, work permit, marriage certificate and letter from the company that I needed to go for 2 weeks, that was it. I've witnessed the same in the UK, easy for all apart from actual citizens, nonsense.
  2. Absurd, Thailand's whole purpose is that of a cheap destination, cheap entertainment, cheap beer, cheap people, simple. How dare they think they are more than that, sickening. It really makes your blood boil.
  3. Well in my opinion Thailand owes me the Thailand I moved to ???? Joking aside this has absolutely nothing to do with race, it's down to behavior, noise made, cleanliness and regard for people in your vicinity. No issue whatsoever with people from Hong Kong, Taiwan or people of Chinese descent not from mainland China, they behave in very different ways. Only talking based on experience, it's sad I know but I suppose their government is to blame for allowing their citizens to be so uncouth and unsophisticated. Yes, maybe people wouldn't want to live next to me, however I never spit in the corridor, scream at ungodly hours of the night, shut at my partner instead of talking, smoke in the elevator, push and shove to get to the food and the list goes on.

    Thai Food - ?

Yes, and on occasion one can enjoy food in fancy Thai restaurant, but it's once a 3 month deal and when you see the bill you realise you could have had any other cuisines which would have been enjoyed more.

    Thai Food - ?

Not at all, just disheartened that the country I fell in love with has changed so much since I moved here, meaning that i now have to entertain Thai food on some days whereas before I never did, prices have gone through the roof at my favourite places (well the ones that are still there).

    Thai Food - ?

Interesting to look at the replies to the topic ???? I suppose my main peeve is that when I moved here in 2005 I didn't need to even entertain Thai food. My average meal cost was 200 baht for a great meal of the cuisine of my choice, the prices have skyrocketed for restaurants in the same area, sometimes pushing 1000 for in essence the same thing.
  8. I remember the phrase 'stick to the devil you know'. The sheer insolence and unabated disdain that these cretins have for people who have moved to and called Pattaya their home for decades is starting to grate. Firstly by shifting the demographics to that of the uncouth, now this imbecilic idea, stop trying to change what's already loved!
  9. How on earth can you make this comparison? Giving the vaccine to young children, who have close to zero risk from Covid, for the benefit of older people is criminal.

    Thai Food - ?

If you genuinely think Thai food is amazing that's fine, I wish I was able to feel the same way.

    Thai Food - ?

Believe me I've tried, I know exactly what Thai food can be.

    Thai Food - ?

Yes of course however I would argue that lots of people who claim to love Thai food are either; 1. Lying, in order to convince themselves that eating it every day is out of choice and not necessity. 2. Saying it's a favourite when they are not actually in Thailand and desire it as a one off 'treat'. 3. Insane

    Thai Food - ?

A bit of a rant here but there you go. I'm sick to the back teeth of people saying how much they like Thai food, why, how, what's wrong with you? It has to be one of the worst cuisines in the entire world. OK, as an occasion Tom Yam Talay, or Tom Kah Gai can be enjoyable but most Thai food is 'edible only because it's cheap'. Maybe I don't have an issue with the taste of Pad Ga Pow for example, I can eat it, but it brings no enjoyment. The one exception being Moo Ga Ta, I do enjoy this. Pla ra, Gaeng Thai Pla and all the other fermented <deleted> is vile to put it lightly. Rice noodle used far too often when egg noodles are far better, everything eaten with hideous jasmine rice when basmati rise is so much more palatable. When I moved here I didn't even have to contemplate Thai food, but they were different times when Thailand was actually cheap. To name a few foods far better than Thai; Indian Mexican All European from Portuguese to French, Italian to Spanish Chinese Japanese American UK, pie and peas, can't even buy mushy peas here, anywhere, even a shockingly put together steak and kidney pie beats the most refined Pad Ga Pow Middle Eastern Brazilian Infact most South American Mozambican And the list goes on. If you do enjoy Thai food, and claim it to be a favourite (yes there is a u in favourite as much as my Thai computer settings tell me otherwise) why?
  14. No, just make it so if someone wants to open a hotel they can simply open a hotel. The current rules are more than absurd.
  15. In Thailand it seems this new fee is for foreigners only, in other places they are for everyone.
  16. If this was only for tourists I could stomach it, but if long terms expats have to pay as well that would be yet another spit in the face.
  17. I sold my Rolex, 1979 Submariner to a shop in MBK, next to the Orange colored bank if I'm not mistaken the last time I was there about 2 years ago, got a pretty penny for it as well, so try there. This was passed down from family and I sold it out of principle, it was bought back when watches were tools and not the preserve of the worlds over monied pillocks. I couldn't out of good faith wear the watch, tasteless, my grandfather would have approved. I settled on a new Grand Seiko, bought with the proceeds of the sale + enough left over for a car, absurd really, but that's people for you.
  18. How is this not related? You're in some way shape or form claiming anyone who questions the official narrative are crackpots purposefully spreading lies, while not realizing that misinformation will catch on more due to the way governments have tried to get people to have the vaccine. By forcing the vaccine, and prohibiting someone from living their lives if they're not vaccinated, more people are going to assume there is something amiss and spread said misinformation which in turn will continue to fester.
  19. If you need a vaccine to for example go to work, that is an attack on personal freedom. There is misinformation yes, but on both sides of the argument. Things are not helped when people are not allowed to make up their minds, when the government makes their minds up for them they may, and have every right to, question this. When questioning the narrative that governments want to portray becomes illegal as some people seem to want, those that seek this make everything worse for their own cause.
  20. Maybe making it a lot easier for hotels to be legal should be the thing to do.
  21. Yes exactly, the title of the topic is 'The Infectious Nature of Misinformation'. Misinformation bounds when there is a perceived threat to personal freedom, when one is forced to become vaccinated to do certain things you can't expect everyone to take it lying down.
  22. I went to make merit once, over a decade ago, I was promised all my wishes would come true. They didn't....
