  1. He's on that 'list' as are 62 folks and counting ... 😎 (edit; 63 now) Subject is egg prices, but since asking, everyone I know in the USA is happy with President Trump, and his attempt to keep campaign promises and MAGA. Egg prices down from the high, both wholesale & retail, by ~50% +/- 10% from the silly high caused by Biden administration's policy of chicken culling, and mismanagement afterwards.... IMHO Feedback I'm getting, so far, so good; egg prices, petrol prices both down. Border much more secure, and scum being deported. Hostages / POW, (mid east) what ever you want to call them were being exchanged, as 'or else' seemed to work. Talks with UA & RU moving along. Corruption and govt waste exposed ... finally, that even the most ignorant or stupid person is starting to realize the joke that is the federal govt, and budget spending. People struggling ... well, relative to folks I know, that are intelligent and work hard for everything they have, so all doing fine. I'm sure all the people that don't and or have never lived there, in the USA, or in contact with USA citizens know so much more than I do. So there's that ...
  2. Yes, inflation under Biden, average 5+% a year, 20+% during his administration. Based on COLA for Soc Sec. When was the culling of millions of chickens done ? ... under who's administration ? Why the increase in eggs ? (see below) And the prices are correcting themselves under who's administration ? .... nuff said
  3. As always, your vendor can be kind, or price gouge ... same for any product, anywhere. UP2U where you shop and how thrifty you are, or need to be. If I lived in the USA, I'd be buying from the local farm, egg producer. Easy to find, best eggs for best price. Actually ... If I was in USA, I'd just go out to the coop every morning and get my eggs. I'd have a coop here, but eggs are too cheap, and I like my free time. The garden & greenhouse is enough for now. #1 eggs being <$1.50 a dozen here / TH.
  4. Topic is eggs, not your delusions or crystal ball predictions. Save it for the joke thread ...
  5. this is the past 24 hrs, and yea, Myanmar has be trembling a bit ... source: https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquakes/today.html
  6. Talking to my daughter, works in skyscraper @ Sathorn, near Lumphini Park, and contrary to my initial though (no big deal), it was pretty F'g scary. She shored some photos & vids with me, and agree, damn scary indeed. Works in 12th floor, or 32 story building, and all under the desks, during initial 'sway', and then evacuated, the latter being the scary part. As building material falling of the side of building, glass, concrete, cement, roofing, signage .... you name it, and it was falling onto the sidewalks & streets. Along with the mass panic and people running about. What a mess.
  7. Down from the high of $8+ USD just 3 weeks ago. Now around $3 UsD a dozen Even 33% cheaper than $4.13 a dozen, back in late Aug, early Sept 2024. ... MAGA ... one crisis at a time source: https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/eggs-us
  8. We sampled a newer place last night locally. Facing surfside, decent food, park in front, to side, not to block the view. No congestion, not crowded, and first time in a while down surfside on a Friday night. Everyone at the other end of the surfside road for the weekend walking street market. No traffic to speak to get there, (8 kms) about 10 mins from house. I would never attempt to drive to a surfside restaurant in a tourist town on the weekend, or during the week, at normal dining hours.
  9. Have you tried .. Khao Soi Thai Yai Restaurant, UT
  10. I really like UT nightlife when single, although I didn't go to where the expats hung out. And usually the only farang there, unless at Tawan Daeng, which I'm not sure is even still there. UT is very walkable, unlike most larger cities. I used to hire a tuk tuk, 75 baht an hour for my pub crawls, and get a hotel in town. As I lived 15 kms out of town.
  11. High season Nov - Feb is OK, as they're escaping the cold at home. Late Feb, March & April are just brutal, and why my brother came to visit in early February. He was at Nam & Cambo last April, and it was brutal, so close, but had enough. He was actually pretty lucky, as pollution wasn't too bad for the 16 days he was here, considering usually much worse. Smog season, stick to the walkable towns, enjoy the architecture and markets. Forget them mountain views. That and everything is brown, crunchy, dusty. Rainy season, everything green & fresh, though seas are too rough to swim in.
  12. Welcome to Thailand ... Unless hanging out in a 'walkable' town, I really don't know why anyone comes to Thailand during smog season. Forget any nice views, unless just the eye candy at the beach or bars.... Phuket beach 😎
  13. Was great, though haven't been there for about 10 years Last time there, you could barely see the airport runway from the hillside Wat, and the airport was closed due to the air pollution. Worst I've ever seen. Wife can't deal with winding roads. Gets motion sickness. Main reason we haven't been to Umphang. Only place on the mainland we have not been. Since they still have the scam to get to the waterfalls, doubt if we'll ever go there. MHS on a better day ...
  14. That would be annoying if having to disable every time you start. The ZS isn't like that, disabled once, and stays that way at every start.
  15. Link posted has info; location, photos, menu, prices, reviews
  16. Actually the same reasons we left Udon Thani apply to Patts and then some. The gridlock is simply too much, especially weekends, along with lack of parking anywhere. Just the congestion, and impact that has on everyday life. Simply too many people. We live outside of town, and 'in town' has less than 26k people, and would bore the hell out of most people after a long weekend. But we love it. Aside from Patts being a international tourist area, which we definitely wouldn't want to live near. We get the BKK weekenders that have tired of Hua Hin, but very few in reality. Along with Patts, being still further away from the south, where we prefer to go O&A, during smog season. Will go north, but only during rainy season. Does limit things when wanting to get away from the house, which we do often.
  17. I can see a new trend for shop owners, new signage to add to .. ... No Shirt No service
  18. A major reason why we left after 16 ish years. Rush hour & weekend gridlock was getting to be a bit too much. No problem 1000-1400 hrs during the week and quite pleasant to pop into town for a munch. Really does get old, very fast. Scratch going down to the night markets near RR station any time, any day, after 1700 hrs. Or anywhere for that matter.
  19. 'Sweeping changes' ... ... allowing free speech once again ... getting rid of staff that restricted free speech or simply weren't needed ... cut all censoring from the acronym folks It's a beautiful thing
  20. Good luck with that one ... 😎 Ours about the same, though 2.5 yrs ago, and 949k now 829k, charger & installation was included with ours. Which we rarely use anyway, since having Solar, and the wall charger is the only thing on the grid. Those that didn't jump in, or simply weren't ready, are lucking out with the price wars, both EV & ICEV. I think all prices across the board have dropped about 100k. For us, sort of irrelevant, and a wash. As our ICEV that was sold, also dropped 100k in price, along with saving another 100k on petrol (if all local driving), so no real financial loss. Got to drive a much better performing car, while passing the petrol station every week. That's priceless
  21. Ah yes ... fresh ground, and brewed Coffee via French press (black) no fag, although there is half a doobie on the nightstand. Did a recon of the yard (walled, for snakes) ... 'ALL CLEAR' ... before letting the dog out. Wife killed 2 yesterday, outside the wall in the garden & greenhouse. She's out there now, collecting the fruits of her labor; Figs, tomatoes, lemons, kale, squash, pumpkin. My LPOS butt is catching up on the whiners ... oops, I meant news. That was a quick read. Petting said dog while 2nd couple is filtering through. Answered queries from folks in the mother land ... 'still alive, didn't feel a thing', as researched before retiring here. No earthquakes or typhoons affect where we live. Another 'Day in Paradise'
  22. Don't know if anyone saw or posted this yet. Was in the 'Thai Enquirer', but since been deleted (reported elsewhere) Notice another thread on AN stated 43 missing at site. And yes, ITD is the same company working on Rama 2 highway, and president of, is Premchai Kannasut, who did time for killing that panther at the national park. ... "Reports of an under-construction building collapse in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district following earthquakes in Myanmar are trending in China after initial reports suggested that the new State Audit Office project was overseen by a joint venture between Italian-Thai Development and China Railway No. 10 (Thailand). So far, three workers have been confirmed dead, while more than 80 remain missing and are feared trapped in the rubble. Rescue operations are ongoing. The State Audit Office signed a construction contract on November 23, 2020, with the ITD-CRCC joint venture for the 33-story main building and related facilities, valued at 2.14 billion baht. Another contract, signed on January 14, 2021, awarded 74.65 million baht to the PKW joint venture (PN Synchronize, W. and Associates Group, and KP Consultants & Management) for project supervision. The construction timeline has been extended from fiscal years 2020 to 2026. A widely shared report in China stated that the collapsed building was designed with a core tube and flat slab system. The core was constructed using slipform casting, while the flat slabs were installed using a lifting method. The external structure used a climbing formwork system to ensure concrete quality for the high-rise. Online discussions include comments such as: “As seen in the second image, this building uses a ‘flat slab’ system, meaning it has no beams and relies only on columns for support. This reduces its earthquake resistance compared to traditional frame structures, making the design a major factor in any collapse.” “The bridge that collapsed in Myanmar was also built by China.” Others shared images of the building with a Chinese caption reading, “Made in China.” [Update] The Department of Business Development's data indicates that the joint venture operates in a business category not listed under the Foreign Business Act, meaning foreign nationals can run the business without a license. However, it is required to submit financial statements under the Accounting Act. Financial data for 2023 shows total assets of 1.36 billion baht and total liabilities of 3.11 billion baht. In 2023, the joint venture’s primary revenue was 87.28 million baht, with total revenue of 105.45 million baht. It reported a gross profit of 17.52 million baht, while selling and administrative expenses totaled 35.04 million baht. Total expenses amounted to 1.86 billion baht, resulting in a net loss of 1.75 billion baht. No corporate income tax was reported."
  23. Any town you never heard of
  24. 45 yrs living there, and I've never seen eggs on beef burgers. Philly, PA (whole metro area), Up & Down East Coast, Memphis TN area, Detroit area, S. FL / Keys / Clearwater / Tampa, Beckley W.VA ... any of 100+ cities that I've visited. .... NEVER ... Only on a breakfast sandwich, which also, never included ground beef. Scrapple being my 'go to' brekkie sandwich. First time was in Udon Thani, 2000, at an Aussie Bar. Seems a standard thing now ... BLASPHEMY
