  1. I would love to bring some skilled meat industry workers into the UK. As would most of Scandinavia. No it not a pun. Many industries short now, not just the white collar, degree educated, ones. I would of course pocket a few Bob.
  2. Thank you Joe. I'll keep checking requirements as I go.
  3. I arrived yesterday on exempt. My plan is to change flight and add 30 days. Brings me to before Easter. If work is a wee bit quieter than I am now envisioning, could I apply for 60 days covid extension pre March 26, or do I need to get the 30 day top up first. Regards.
  4. I'll return, after almost two years due to covid, to Soi Sri Lanka. Whilst I've been away the dump has been regularly cleaned. Whilst I'm there it is cleaned daily and topped out twice weekly. Neighbours and friends of neighbours pop in regularly and sweep and clean, make me a coffee and just do the community thing. I find it ideal for my needs, size wise and comfort wise. Another post on this forum described the properties as one room dumps. A semi outdoor kitchen, large bedroom, wet room with European style fittings and a reasonable size front room isn't a 1 room hovel. Well not in my experience. Most foreigners who stay there are generally 2 or 3 times a year visitors spending 4 or 5 months of the year in them. If I am to fully locate to Thailand I may well upside. But as its not a dump and its community spirit is still alive and kicking, I doubt it. But each to his own, one man's hovel is anothers castle.
  5. No. A very disturbed young man, living opposite with his adoptive aunt. A few local expats tried to help him at times. Not aways the best course of action. The problems for Kanchanaburi as a tourist destination are seemingly un- surmountable. A couple of youngish lads having a drink, not really different to many nights. Like I mentioned before, respect from one side of the street to the other. I trust the family opposite my bungalow to keep a eye out for me. Different cultures sometimes clash but, not always. A lack of mental health care is cross cultural. Care in the community is something I've seen my friend do. Not always advisable.
  6. The one side of the road has always respected the other. Never problems. A slightly odd character across the road being the ony reason to lock ones doors
  7. My little bolt hole, come holiday let is the first one on the strip. There is n <deleted> living on it. Never has been. Not been in my place for a while but have a 99% idea of who did this. <deleted> please don't make assumptions if you've never lived in Kan.
  8. Richard Coleman, Enjoy your trip and I hope it goes smoothly. I've always told myself I'd wait until the correct time but, after so long and paying, albeit cheap, rent for a small bungalow that I'm missing, its time to go home. I flew out to bkk last time, via Wuhan, Xmas eve 2 year back. If 7 hours there in transit didn't kill me and or 2 subsequent years slaughtering and butchering for, and surrounded by immigrants, hasn't done me any real ill, I'll take the risk. Its been far too long. Enough is enough. Jump through those bloody hoops and get life back to normal. Regards Shep.
  9. Its beginning to be like buying a new phone or bloody laptop. Do i buy now or next month. I've waited and hung on for almost 2 years. Gonna hoop jump this weekend, whatever. Advice on any UK based agencies that can jump with more gusto than me, all in one type of thing, will be appreciated. Seven days quarantine, not a problem. Regards Shep.
