  1. I don’t get out much but it was interesting to read that some retirees do count satang. It’s cheaper to live here and I guess that attracts many farang…but maybe more of those who have less come here.
  2. Wow. That has always been on my mind. Pets being placed in cargo are at the mercy of delays and the weather. I’m sad for her. I realize it’s the only option for some but it is risky and there’s no guarantee you’ll see you pet again like before.
  3. I’m ok with or without a mask. It’s interesting how some get so bent out of shape whether asked to wear one or not. I’m glad I’m not one of them.
  4. “Google says”?? Articles like this have me reading fewer articles.
  5. I totally agree about “sticking to the sports pages.” There is so much noise in the paper, on TV, on social media, etc. that I am starting to understand the “fog” most people are in and how easy it is to get that way.
  6. Hope he recovers. Health insurance covered my big bike accident, thankfully. 60 days in icu with similar injuries (and more) like this fellow. I’m surprised my Thai health insurance company actually covered bike crashes and glad it did. They paid most of it.
  7. That’s a tough one. China’s wuhan virus, Russia’s nuclear threat or the “arrogance” of the West. Decisions, decisions. But, seriously, who cares. SE Asian countries are all little China puppets anyway.
  8. I’ve done the math, too. Watch out for Thai and old farang people on the road. Both will get you.
  9. Welcome to Thailand. You’re better off ignoring or not knowing this and everything else officials say here. Or accepting it for what it is. Ugh.
  10. Unfortunately, I don’t believe anything Thai officials say. It’s in their nature to be dishonest. Just like them saying democracy leads to a disparity of wealth. And what about the major disparity here in a military government state???
  11. Something I’ve learned since moving here: be careful criticizing or else pay a price. It doesn’t matter who.
  12. This is typical SE Asian behavior. Those in power live by their own rules and the followers (from a young age) have been trained to accept it. It’s standard practice here and those from the West don’t understand it.
