  1. This Black Hawk was probably a write-off before the road collision. The second Royal Thai Army Black Hawk crash since the type entered service in Thailand in late 2002. The first crash in around 2005 was fatal. Overall, not a bad safety record for the Black Hawk squadron. 15 (now 14?) examples of this type in service, with another 9 ex US Army UH-60s on order.
  2. The TG management have got to be some of the most incompetent managers possible. With demand for cargo airplanes in record demand, Thai Airways left a pair of cargo 474-400s sitting on the ground at U-Tapao gathering dust, when they could have been earning vital revenue for the carrier. These two airplanes were eventually sold to a Moldovan cargo airline, probably for peanuts.
  3. In the old days, 724 (or more) Swedish tourists would probably have arrived in a weekend in Phuket in the peak season. And plenty more in Krabi.
  4. The answer to that question is no. There have been no scheduled international flights to U-Tapao, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, or any other of the smaller Thai airports formerly catering to international arrivals since spring last year. Maybe a few international charters, but these, if any have been in extremely small numbers, The Thai airline industry is in very bad shape, kept alive by mainly internal flights. TG is a basket case, but has been for years, anyway.
