  1. What a lot of miseries. I have been visiting and living in PI for more than 30 years. Retired here 4+ years ago, with family. Now have my permanent resident visa. Wouldn't want to retire to Thailand, infested as it is with fat, sweaty, tattooed sexpats and soccer hooligan types. Each to their own. Stay in Thailand...please. ????
  2. Seems reasonable. (Who wears a jacket, here in this heat anyway ?) ????
  3. I have lots of delicious papayas in my garden, so cheers for making me feel fortunate today. ????
  4. Because people are stupid enough to pay those prices for that <deleted> ? ????
  5. Presumably this corresponds with a lowering of the average IQ in the States ?????
  6. I use a cheap little Nokia 105 (bought on Lazada) to receive codes. Dual sim too. Costs next to nothing. ????
  7. Stay lean and fit. Get enough sleep. Avoid stress. Homo Sapiens is an omnivore, so, consume a balanced diet, and your body will figure out for itself what to do with the 'nutrition' you ingest. ???? (Oh... and be careful crossing the road ! ???? )
  8. Does this mean they are capable of mental arithmetic ? No little notepads and calculators ? ????
  9. Disappointing that nobody has managed to put a bullet through that monster's brain yet. ☹️ .
  10. No I am not. It is MY opinion. You may have yours. .
  11. Do the maths.... taking into account airfares, removal costs, visa fees, etc. ..... for a very few quid a month...to be some sort of aged nomad. Hmm.
  12. I love these people who edit their posts AFTER I've replied. Sorry to dent your ego incidentally, but I very much doubt you earned more than me (the bit you edited in). Most of my working life I was self-employed, but if that's important to you. ???? Okay.
  13. I see it has gone over your head. Nevermind. I'm too old to explain to yet another person how the UK benefit system (and fradulent claims for such benefits) works. Carry on.
  14. I am perfectly familiar with DWP regs thank you. I also used to work for them. Perhaps you haven't cottoned to the fact that this is not just about the state pension. Get your thinking cap on sir.
  15. I don't approve of fraud... and the guys who went to live in Thailand knew the state pension situation when they went there...or should have taken the trouble to find out. One day they're bragging to the mates back home how wonderful life is....next, crying about it. We're all adults.
  16. Aaah... shame you didn't make that clear in your original post...particularly for the non-Brits. ???? I used to work for the UK Department of Employment (as was)... so know a little bit. Now happily retired to my Philippines shack, living on my pittance...+ 3.1% this April. ????
  17. Since when was NI contribution at 20% ? There are also lower (earnings) and upper limits on the NI contributions. I believe the current (all-time high ?) NI rate deducted from employees, is 13.8%. For decades before that it was around the 8-10% mark. BASIC rate income tax in the UK is a lot lower than 40% too.
  18. I met my Filipina wife through DateInAsia... 10 years ago. It has worked out pretty well so far. Do bear in mind though...and this is where videochat is really essential. Works both ways of course. ???? .
  19. What is the average age of their populations, as compared with the Philippines ? Which countries are giving out the most accurate statistics ? ????
  20. More meaningless mumblings...to keep themselves in work.
  21. I am happy being 'stuck' here in my shack in the Philippines, amongst the friendly natives. Life is fine. The roof doesn't leak. Booze cupboard is stocked. I have good water, electric, and 200meg fibre internet. Fully vaxxed too, but no need to go anywhere else, especially being on a 13A visa now. ????
