Everyone is missing the point. This is a corrupt, morally bankrupt country where life is cheap and no one gives a damn about anyone other than themselves. My friend was recently hit by a driver who did not stop - no police investigation. Parents don’t seem to care that their kids are out in the early hours with the family motorcycle. Children ride a motorcycle to school - the teachers don’t say a word. 500 baht to the cops absolved you of all crime. Drinking and driving is rife. The equivalent population of a small town is slaughtered on the roads every year. No one cares.

Omnivron spreads rapidly, it is in Thailand already and will become the dominant strain very quickly - regardless if more outsiders bring it. Similar to the UK where Omicron is now dominant - infected tourists entering the UK will have no effect on the spread of the virus.

The number of young people visiting Thailand has been in decline for years - Thailand is too passé and is known as a dangerous country. The numerous murders here have gained considerable media attention abroad. Most Chinese and Indian visitors don’t enjoy the seedy Thai nightlife. Also, the world has changed. The days of old white guys treating Asian women as sex objects have gone. Much of what is left of Thai tourism consists of elderly men who have been coming here for years. As they die off the seedy entertainment industry will go. And about time.
