Typical Thailand. They dont appreciate that "rich pensioners" and "rich global citizens" would not want to live long term in Thailand. Thailand will always attract the lower/middle status of people. Its a third world country, with massive levels of corruption, unsafe roads, and many other downsides. It will be another failure..........and in 12 months time there will be a "committee" meeting looking into why so few people applied for the LTR............. Thailand loves committees why should any one person have to have any responsibility, better have a committee and then nobody has to take the blame for failure.......... They should just accept where Thailand is in the world - make a LTR visa simple for most people and then reap the benefits. But that means a few people losing face.............and Thai's, like Chinese.......hate losing face.

Certain hotel chains already seem to be putting their prices up considerably Marriot hotels in Bangkok this month appears massively inflated, I normally book quite a few nights at Marriot or Sheraton in Thailand but currently the prices are crazy high against other big hotel chains. Greed factor already coming into play........... but I suppose this is good for the budget hotels, as the big hotels get emptier so the budget hotels will thrive with new clients.

Tobacco smoke is a Class 1 Carcinogen. HOWEVER Alcohol is also a Class 1 Carcinogen. So if you drink half a bottle of whiskey a day, but smoked a few packs of cigarettes when you were 18, if you get cancer of any type it will be labelled as "Smoking related". The stats are completely skewed and irrelevant. If you drink alcohol you have as much chance of getting cancer as a smoker. This is why cancer cases keep rising, even as smoking is reducing massively...........but hey............shall we ban alcohol ? No......they all scream. And alcohol kills and mains in many ways..........drunk drivers, drunk people, abuse related to alcohol, beatings of wives and children under the influence of alcohol....... I think personal choice should be just that, if you want to smoke, then smoke. if you want to drink, then drink. Dont complain about one and do the other.

Everyone knows that a new variant will come along in the autumn and winter. They will say everyone is at risk as "immunity is waning". Everyone must have their 4th or 9th or 15th Booster shot. Asian countries will immediately panic and blame dirty farangs for this. Borders will be closed. Meanwhile Europe and the Rest of the World will just carry on as normal. Welcome to winter 22/23

Everyone should do a pre flight PCR test. The cost is minimal in the real world (for example in Indonesia a PCR test is 500 baht equivalent and the result comes back 6 to 12 hours later). Do a test, 24 hours before flight and you "should" be ok......... if its negative you will test negative on arrival as well. Incubation time is 48 to 72 hours for Omicron.........so provided you are PCR negative 24 hours before your flight you should be negative on arrival. If you want to be a cheap charlie and not test before your flight.....then you run the risk of a positive on arrival result. Whats better for cost saving ? Do a test before your flight and then, if positive, delay your flight and hotel...........or dont do a test and be positive on arrival and locked up for 10 days. False economy not testing before your flight.

Most of the rest of the world is now fully open........ Philippines fully opened over a month ago.......everything is fine. Its time to end this nonsense in Thailand. 1st of May - fully open.

The Chinese zero covid policy is all about keeping tight control on people, stopping people travelling and boosting domestic tourism and domestic spending to support the economy. China will not open up for a couple of years at least.

Its a very simple game. If the military wants to have coups in their country, then you dont condemn the actions of other countries militaries. Then when you do something bad, those countries that did bad things which you kept quiet about, will support you by being quiet. Thailand likes to keep China and Russia happy........those are 2 security council veto votes in their bag, so they feel free to do whatever they want in Thailand, as they are quite safe against any comeback.

Philippines has been open since early in February. No test on arrival. No mandatory 1 night hotel quarantine on arrival. They are doing fine.......... Thailand will never recover while they impose stupid restrictions for a disease which now is just as bad as a common cold.

ITS NOT QUARANTINE FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are locked in your hotel until a negative on arrival test is completed, you are quarantined. Simple as that. Does not matter if its 1 night only......its still quarantine. Therefore its highly misleading to say its quarantine free when its not. The fact you must pay for 2 tests and stay for 2 nights in a quarantine hotel (Day 1 and Day 5) and run the risk of mandatory detention if positive (even though Omicron now is no worse than a mild cold for most people) for 10 days........its all a big con. Philippines from February 10th has REAL quarantine free entry. No test on arrival. No mandatory nights in any hotel. No testing on day 5. Nothing..................simply have your PCR negative result before travel and its free entry for all vaccinated people. The headlines about quarantine free Thailand are disgustingly misleading.
