  1. Ignore my moniker, I haven't lived in Bangkok for 19 years and I haven't been on a plane in about 15. Yes, you're right, the air quality down in southern Phuket is excellent.
  2. I have an en-suite bathroom in my main bedroom that I never use. The only time I go in there is every couple of months to flush the toilet to get the P-trap filled with water. It dried out once - a long time ago - and the smell was pretty bad! I then put a reminder on my PC to flush the loo every 2 months! ????
  3. Thanks for the reminder. I have a Hatari floor standing fan and just cleaned the tiny amount of dust off the blades. Some time ago I removed the metal screen as that also makes a little noise as the air passes it.
  4. Exactly! Tell us all the steps you did.
  5. "The law, which obliges all citizens to know the Ukrainian language and makes it a mandatory requirement for civil servants, soldiers, doctors, and teachers, was championed by outgoing President Petro Poroshenko." So the 17% of Ukrainians - who are Russians - have to speak Ukrainian or they can't get a job as civil servants, soldiers, doctors, and teachers. Yeah, no problem there. ????
  6. APRIL 25, 20194:53 PMUPDATED 3 YEARS AGO Ukraine passes language law, irritating president-elect and Russia By Pavel Polityuk 4 MIN READ KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine’s parliament approved a law on Thursday that grants special status to the Ukrainian language and makes it mandatory for public sector workers, a move Russia described as divisive and said discriminated against Russian-speakers. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-ukraine-parliament-language-idUSKCN1S111N
  7. My newly-arrived next door neighbour and his family are Russian. So that's one real one.
  8. Apparently, a lot of young people post on Aseannow. I'm old, by the way. Very old.
  9. I used to add a little Haiter bleach (6% available chlorine) to my 2,000 litre water tank and want to do it again, but I can't find a consistent ratio of bleach to water. Here are what some sites quote, and they just don't work out to be the same: 1/4 cup in 15 gallons (1 gallon = 4.54 litres) 40 cups in 2000 gallons (1 cup = 237 ml) 4 tsp in 50 gallons (1 tsp = 5 ml) 0.626 ml in 1 gallon 25 oz in 10,000 gallons (1 oz = 30 ml) 500 ml in 10,000 litres Can anyone say what they use?
  10. I'm sure you know how to use Google. Try Googling: "Ukrainian soldiers shoot Russian POWs in legs" I get just over a million results.
  11. I beg the BBC's pardon. They have posted about it: https://www.bbc.com/news/60907259
  12. What a horrific video from the BBC. I wonder if they will also show the video of Ukrainian soldiers shooting Russian POWs in the legs as they exit a small van?
  13. Is that even possible? I've been looking for stuff on AseanNow, that I'm sure was discussed on ThaiVisa, and can't find it.
  14. It's a hoopoe - I get them quite regularly - often in pairs. I'll see if I have any photos of them. Ah, yes, a video: Hungry Hoopoe 2.mp4
  15. “The brigade commander was killed by his own troops, we believe, ..." "A Russian soldier has allegedly surrendered his tank..." You do understand the meaning of "propaganda", don't you?
  16. Bird identification, please. He/she has been visiting for years, but I've never thought to find out his/her breed: Bird.mp4
  17. Unfortunately, I went midday and didn't notice your post. But I did see that the boot floor was a bit high after I asked to see the load space at the back. I like that the rear seats fold forwards and, when she showed me that, she did say that the battery was underneath the floor. I didn't think to ask about a spare wheel. But the test drive was pretty weird. I'm used to hearing the engine running and a bit of vibration and feeling the road through the steering wheel. I even turned down the steering power assistance to "Sport" mode, which the girl said would make the steering "firmer". She obviously hasn't driven a 17 year old pickup. This SUV's steering was so light I often "over-steered" - I could hear the tyres squealing as I was turning too quickly while driving too slowly around their car park. It made me think I'd just taken a few years off the life of the front tyres. But the weirdest thing about the car was it never used the engine. I couldn't get up enough speed for the engine to start so it was just using the battery, and that meant that it was deathly quiet inside. All that power and no sound - apart from when I accelerated too hard and spun the front wheels. I loved the screen in the middle of the dashboard and the GPS - no need for my phone with the "Maps" app showing me the way to "GWM Anuphas" in Thalang, Phuket. I also like that the 5 year warranty, road side assistance and servicing are all built into the price, with 8 years warranty on the battery. If only I felt more comfortable driving it - it was more like it was driving me. The price was OK - about 1.25 mil - but it was just too big for me. Maybe I'll go back and have a drive in a "Jolion" model which is a bit smaller, and is only 999k Baht.
  18. I must admit also that the look of the H6 is what attracted me to it, but then reading the reviews made me seek out a dealer for a good look.
  19. Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking about last night - parking my current pickup can be a bit tight in some of the small sois where I live. I'll find out later when I go and have a look/test-drive.
  20. "Zelensky concedes Ukraine will not join Nato ‘It’s a truth and it must be recognised,’ says Ukrainian leader" https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/zelensky-ukraine-conflict-nato-russia-b2037181.html Took him long enough.
  21. There's a GWM (Haval H6) dealer up in Thalang, north Phuket. I had a look on Google Earth for it and the street view shows the concrete shell of the building! And that was taken in July last year. But the satellite view does show the building with a roof, so it didn't take them long to get it up and working. I may go and have look tomorrow.
  22. Looks a bit like a London taxi...
  23. Fortunately, no one is listening to them.
