  1. Metalex is becoming more and more industrial it seems, very little to do with small work shops, mostly industrial sized machines. Not sure if people think Intermach might be more suitable.
  2. Hi I'm about to go for my marriage visa extension again, this will be my 4th time, last time I went I was under the impression some people had appointments via online booking system. I would previously just rock up and get a ticket and queue, I can't seem to find the online booking system currently, does it actually exist?
  3. Oddly enough Thailand isn't that bad I guess in the grand scheme of things, but I'm not sure if it's a good thing or bad if that number is high based on the below table. My intial thought would be a lower % would be better, but some wealthy countries seem to have high %
  4. I recently had a taxi driver cuss us out because my wife is Thai and he thought she was chinese, since chinese tip better he says, and taking Thai's is a waste of his time, wouldn't stop being annoying and complaining how we weren't going to tip big. My wife said, well I wanted to get grab originally, and he said good next time get grab and don't bother him. Also complained how we used meter since he could charge more for foreigners
  5. Debt is a really big and growing problem in Thailand. I know loads of people who just max out their cards like no tomorrow or borrow like crazy without any plans of repaying, or get into installments without much whim. Almost all the local Thai's I know have bad debt (i.e letters chasing them and their salary being court mandated to pay off loans) already. And yet they still walk around with some iphone or other and with a new motorbike/car. Financial literacy is 0 and if the financial system doesn't curb its lending policies then Thailand's going to have its own financial crisis sooner or later.
  6. They also use the flowmeter types here, and they also go up to 300bar (1bar = 1.01972 kg/cm3)
  7. Absolute classic, I'm assuming this is Global house from the way he's written it, actually to be honest, my expierence has been quite good with Global house for some DIY stuff, depends what you're getting. They have service centres in some branches which can be handy. As with all hardware stores in Thailand, you kinda really need a Thai speaker with you to get anything you actually want. And well done for interpreting OP's post XD it was giving me a headache trying to read it.
  8. @jvs yea that's pretty damn fake, also Dewalt and Bosch won't make it, the fact they used their brand should be red flags enough, kinda want to see someone buy one to review though, it'd be hilarious if they just got a water gun or something
  9. What do you mean cheap? A real proper fibre laser welding machine will set you back 200,000 THB minimum (1500W), anything less than that is likely not a real laser welding machine. I've had a few goes and they're great, but usually used for thinner jobs, laser will likely replace smaller TIG jobs, but MIG will still have it's place for welding thicker materials, anything thicker than 3mm will need MIG/TIG/MMA. The 1450 baht pricing is only for the gun of the laser, it isn't actually the laser, it's like buying the MIG gun but not the machine. @sometimewoodworker is correct you need to add up all the other parts too. Real laser welding isn't going to be for household use anytime within the next 3 years, but maybe 7-10 years time we might see prices drop below 100,000 THB, but don't hold your breath. MIG has only just started to come down in price for DIY use I would argue, TIG (proper TIG not the <deleted>ty lift-TIG) is still expensive both in terms of machines and consumables/fillers.
  10. Udon one: https://goo.gl/maps/n1RHzFzP1pP3jvH57 Khon Kaen https://goo.gl/maps/h362brJFyVkcVwGB8
  11. @sometimewoodworker Ok it was starting to bug me that no one seemed to have an answer for you so I spoke with some people to find out, and to be honest it was actually quite hard to find, but here's what I got: บริษัท อุตสาหกรรมก๊าซขาวสะอาด จ ากดั ที่อย5ู่ 2 หมู่6ถนนอุดร-เลย ต ำบลนำดี อ ำเภอเมืองอุดรธำนี จังหวัดอุดรธำนี 41000 โทรศัพท์0-4220-1399 Apparently there aren't many CO2 refilling places in Ubon There's a good one in Khon Kaen otherwise: ขอนแก่นอ๊อกซิเจน อ.เมือง จ.ขอนแก่น
  12. yea, I agree, MIG is much more usable than stick when you're not welding regularly. I guess the issue for you and finding gas refillers is that you're in quite a remote area? Sorry I'm not that familiar with your area, but I'm guessing even if you found one, it might be quite a trek for you each time, do you have a large enough vehcile to transport the tanks too? also for your workshop, if you're welding more regularly, you're not going to want one those cheap ones from lazada, since they all just explode after a few months of using since they have like a <deleted>ty duty cycle and people end up always over pushing the machines.
  13. I'm surprised it wasn't a BYD, I heard they were quite prone to burning up
