  1. In case you have a cassette type aircon, the recommendation by Daikin is every 4-6 months with complete pull down (disassembly).
  2. You're right! When I applied for Thai Insurance at 74yo (for OA visa) I had to mention medical conditions/operations. When I received the policy there was so many exclusions that I couldn't hardly think of what I was covered for - Well maybe toenail fungus, never had yet. So glad not to need that waste of money insurance anymore.
  3. My opinion is Immigration wants to eliminate the "OA" visa. Other the initial procurement, the only difference (to my knowledge) is the medical insurance that has to be from a Thai company. Why not the "O"? As we move through our 70's toward our 80's the insurance cost is well past 100,00 baht and with all the exclusions (due to priors) it's practically useless. I was about to change to an "O" but the LTR came along to save the day with none of these silly banking requirements.
  4. Many of these so-called Thai Engineers don't seem to have a grip on the concept of water flows down-hill, not up. Next time try using transit or even better hire the Dutch-they seem to be genius with the management of water.
  5. You don't mention if you have health insurance that can be used in Thailand. My go to hospital is Bumrungrad in Bangkok which is at the higher end of costs. I live in Pattaya, but I have a trust issue with some of the hospitals in Pattaya which is off topic. I consider the extra expense (transportation and hotel) is well worth it. My insurance will pay (100%) for a "comprehensive physical". I believe this will cover all the tests you describe with the exception of artery exam and the colonoscopy. if you do decide to do a colonoscopy at Bumrungrad I recommend Dr. Charkaphan Osangthamnont. Good luck
  6. So these Thai police officers may have accepted (probably very large) bribe to protect someone who killed one of their own co-workers. Absolutely no integrity at all. In this part of the world too many people would sacrifice their own mother for a pittance of coin. Just my opinion.
  7. I for one have no interest in casinos even if entry fee was only 5 baht. On the upside if the casino goes belly up it might make a nice Airconditioned building for repurposing as beer garden/upscale Soi 6.
  8. They push food carts (non motorized) all over the roads in Pattaya that creates traffic chaos all hours of the day and night. I fail to see the difference from a safety perspective.
  9. Just more Bla, Bla, Bla. Sounds more like the Thai's are just getting their excuses in order when their inflated numbers don't come true. It's all about saving face.
  10. Regardless of the latest government change, I never believed that Immigration was going to allow people to just bounce in and out of the country every 60-90 days for an indefinite period. It was just wishful thinking.
  11. I've order salmon from Paleo Robbie. They claim it is wild caught - no farmed fish. I always order enough to avoid shipping fees (to Pattaya) and then section the sides and vacuum seal and keep in freezer. The catch is you will pay more but as they say: "up to you - it's your health". Bye the way, it's also delicious.
  12. I've been withdrawing 30,000 baht from Kasikorn Bank atms since 2017.
  13. Only 22 times?!! The Democrats have been lying about the "empty suit" running the country (America) since he took office. Those lies have got to be in the thousands by now.
  14. Making a visa run every 60 days doesn't sound like much fun. I made one visa run (van type) to extend my initial "OA" visa back in 2009. It was one of the most horrible experiences of my life. A suicidal driver who thought he was a F1 driver. Just lucky I survived the ordeal. Never again.
  15. Heinz baked beans are 129 baht for 415 gram can on Lazada.
  16. This was CNN's attempt to get Trump to decline the debate by making rules they thought Trump wouldn't like and refuse to participate. It backfired.
  17. Eggplant parmesan (with Italian sausage in sauce) about 1/month.
  18. I went through the process last August (2023). The entire process was about 5 weeks. All documents were accepted the first time. I agree with others that an agent is a waste of money and time.
  19. A (Thai) society that considers maintenance an afterthought is buying the most maintenance intense piece of machinery on the face of the earth. I wish them luck.
  20. As far as I know he can but the way things are going in America, who knows?
  21. Just thinking out loud, it would be poetic (or political) justice if Trump by chance was re-elected and 4 years later, he commuted his sentence. Politics can be very strange sometimes.
  22. Well, the site is working fine. I had a problem about a year ago accessing a government site in USA. In my condo I have a choice of different internet providers. When I accessed the Condo internet which I rarely use due to slow speed it worked fine. Back to my fiber internet and still no good. Called my internet provider and a guy came out and looked at it. Everything worked fine except that one government site. He said "oh yeah, I'll fix it back at office". 30 min later it was working. I have no idea what he did. so, try calling your internet provider if all else fails.
  23. I don't think I've ever been asked to move in a restaurant except when extra friends showed up and a bigger table is required. If I was asked to move, I would ask why and if the language barrier proved to be a problem, I would ask where. I wouldn't accept a table next to the toilet entry/exit or next to entry door where the hot outside hits you every time the door is opened. Other than that, I don't mind moving if it helps the servers.
  24. IF you can meet the requirements of the LTR visa it is a much better option. If you can't meet the requirements, you are on the right track with the "O".
  25. I agree with the advice in regard to a retirement visa but if you can meet the qualifications of a wealthy pensioner ($80K passive income and health insurance (not necessarily Thai insurance)) then a 10-year LTR visa would be a better choice. No bank account required, 90-day reporting is changed to report once a year and if you want to open a bank account it's easy with and LTR visa (and yes, I know that for a fact because myself and a friend received our LTR's at the same time and he walked into a Kasikorn Bank in Bangkok the next day and had a savings account 30 minutes later. He was staying in a hotel at the time and no certificate of residence). If you don't meet the LTR requirements, then I would stick to an "O" visa (it's what I was going to change my "OA" too before I discovered the LTR).
