  1. That's where it is good to be on a pension, weak USD means inflation in New York, for which I get readjusted. So I regain some, over time. Can also convert to TBD at a 31.47 rate, but thing would have to turn completely catastrophic before I do that. Hope someone will shoot the idiot, or dementia gets him.
  2. Had an extraction followed by an implant with bone graft done there, couldn't be happier.
  3. I was in that situation, so I provide a statement of payments from my pension with the match bank account statements; no further questions asked.
  4. The most likely answer is that IF you stay in Thailand 180 days, or more, all remittances prior to the date of effect of your visa will be be taxable.
  5. Unless he had a multi-entry Non-O (not even sure these still exist) or had some reentry permit in his passport his current visa has been cancelled when he left Thailand.
  6. Police Lieutenant Colonel Surakrit Kulsura Mueanmee, Legal Inspector of the Office of Information and Communications Technology, Royal Thai Immigration Bureau would have said that some Tax certificate would be required from those doing retirement extensions beased on 65k monthly income. To be taken with a grain of salt though. Even though it it would make sense... Tax clearance might also become mandatory to leave the country as Police, Immigration and TRD would cooperate to (link their IT) enforce the existing laws. Again all this is second hand info from French participants to the C.Surakrit/Thaiexpattax Webinar
  7. Seems that many failed to understand that health cover isn't an afterthought you have at 65, or worse, after 70. It should influence our choices of employers while we are fit. After 40 once a solid salary/retirement/health cover package has been secured we must dig in to keep it. That's what I did, not too much excitement in my older working years, but a peaceful exit instead...
  8. Socialist? Maybe you should go [back] to school... "Socialism is an economic system in which industries are owned by workers rather than by private businesses."
  9. Next step will be to ban alcohol completely. And convert Nana plaza into a mosque.
  10. Not finished yet, there might be the tax clearance thingy on the way... We might know more about that tomorrow. https://zoom.us/webinar/register/6917502943335/WN_4yBezO2IQHC78XdZb9nV5w?utm_source=Expat+Tax+Thailand&utm_campaign=324fbdb3a6-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_06_10_09_58_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-5aa19c23d8-302309530#/registration
  11. Amusingly I'd agree with the yellow guy that EU should spend 5% of GDP on defence. But this should go towards the creation of an EIDF (European Integrated Defence Forces). EIDF could then join NATO, or not, as US isn't reliable partner anymore. Alliances with China could prove just a beneficial than the existing relationship with the new non democratic USA.
  12. So, can I assume that you've had an overnight with all five together in your presidential suite? Otherwise what would be the point of this thread.
  13. Don't go to the US. Neither should we buy any US products.. BYD, Hueawei, Sony are too good anyhow and eff Amazon.
  14. I have spend over 6 months in VN, since 1989, never had any complaint about the food.. I don't eat street food in Thailand, family dinners are in the 3K to 4K range with a bottle of wine...
  15. Sure, but not so many of us, who can remember what Thailand was in the last century, will be left.
  16. I gonna have my October holiday in Da Nang. Gonna miss the sewage in the water and to whores on the beach.
  17. He declared that truce on social media, so why would it stop the real war? Maybe he is the firs POTUS who isn't aware of the existence of a real world?
  18. Of having had a phone call with an old family friend.
