Do You Avoid Other Foreigners You Meet in Thailand?
I used to avoid them, but now I prefer to make subtle jokes, laugh and find out what annoys them and comment on it. Especially Chinese guys. I know they have small weiners and focus on small dik jokes.

How do you get rid of it then? If you say please stop bothering me it gets closer (takes your interest as a yes), hangs around even more outside your door with some stupid trike...

Do you understand the part about the dog and wanting to kick it?

Is filming the deed illegal?
Yep, or even orchastrating it. If the two other parties know each other I could be being played somehow. They record then ask for a payoff or the tape goes to the police, etc. That makes two people's word against one if anything happened. I'm in pattaya so there are a lot of scams around, people running out of money, etc.

For me, it was actually them being too nice. The best description I can give would be: Have you ever had a dog who was "too nice", kind of followed you around the house, just behind your leg so you knew it was there, but still not touching you or bothering you in an obvious way. Yet, it being there bothers you somehow because it's always there for some reason and you sometimes want to kick it away or just want it to go away, but you're not sure why it irritates you. 🤣 That's the situation I felt. Just too much attention because people see in me something they want, or just are focusing on me at all in the same kind of happy manner, which seemed pitiful after a time, especially from other men, though I can understand how some people may view it as simply friendly.

It was Tommy Lee from Motley Crue many years ago. The clip is still on YTube. What struck me as strange about it was Pattaya seems like the kind of place he and the band would like.

Do Foreign Men Often Move to Thailand Because They Can’t Get Women Back Home?
I just moved out of Siem Reap back to Pattaya. I was so happy getting the 5 year DTV visa. I can be a strange guy, but I felt like I was "dying" in Cambodia. I just felt lost and so "drained" by the needy energy of the people. I'm so happy to be outta there. I really turned negative there this time.

I remember a clip of a rock star who visited Pattaya many years ago. He did not think much of it because he was already living that lifestyle in his home country. Sure, he probably liked the visit but it was not a place he would come back to or move to. One can get women anywhere if you are wealthy. It has very little to do with being in Thailand. Most expats come to Thailand for the increased spending power. With that comes increased availability of women.

You bought the Warren Buffett line of just hold everything and property always goes up line of the real estate industry. They made that up for suckers. If you are a Warren Buffett, Ok, hold anything and forget it. It's all a paper loss and does not matter! Look at again when you are 95 and laugh! That's not most people who can just ignore any downturn.

It's not a permanent upward trajectory. It's a large wave moving up, whereby you have no way of knowing when it will reverse. Since you have no exit plan you would be stuck holding during whatever reversal would happen (could take many years) and would probably sell at the bottom during a panic. You also don't have an exit plan on the topside, believing it will simply keep going up.

Not true at all. Property prices can crash and you would be in a very illiquid investment whereby you can't sell and your home and it can be taken ftom you as the banks afjust the mortgages and you go underwater. True, it's rare, but when it does happen you can lose everything.

Yes! It could also be viewed at a deeper level as creating illusions of control and ownership to keep people in debt, therefore working for the corporate elite. If you are busy working, you are too tired to challenge the status quo or develop your own business or livelyhood that drains money away from someplace like Amazon or Walmart. If you go into debt you can't usually get out from under the payments without working as a debt slave in a job most of your life. For the paranoid, the interest rates may set that way according to your credit and income when you get the loan.

I agree about the mortgages and loans. After I bought my condo in the Usa I realized that I did not own or buy anything. It was just like paying rent to the bank (nobody I know times property pricing cycles just right, consistently, so the usual justification of holding appreciating asset does not hold up). The whole ownership thing with a loan is a myth and a scam developed by banks and the real estate brokers to create an illusion of ownership and collect interest payments and commission. To my understanding it's not actually possible to truly "own" in the Usa. Even with a cash purchase there is the property tax issue and even eminent domain whereby the government can sieze, also Irs seizure.

It's hard to imagine feeling like home on someone elses land even if you fully trust the owner... Ditto for a condo. It's always someone elses building holding you up... I'm talking about being truly comfortable. In a situation that's paid off and nobody can take from you, not just being in a secure space...

I went through a buying a condo stage at one time as well. What I discovered (for myself) was that doing so would not make it feel like home even if I purchased. In other words, anything outside of buying on my home country soil would feel like a rental.

Indian restaurants in Pattaya
Just like many bars do. People put saved money together, usually family money or some sort of loan, then skimp by in various ways hoping customers and money come in. When that stops working they either close and a new one pops up, or it gets sold to someone who thinks they can make it work. I have actually asked several businesses that very question while I was in there (not recommended unless you know how to ask). Their answer is usually something like 'but you are here'. It's just denial basically and a belief that things will change and customers will come in at some point. Some places keep improving the place and putting money into it (which rarely works long term), others just wait and stand on the sidewalk cat-calling to everyone that walks by.

I think they cater mostly to groups that come in and share food. They get 3 or 4 dishes and everyone shares so it makes it cheaper per person somehow, but I'm not sure exactly how. Similar to the hooker deal, where a group will bargain for one price that includes the entire group.

Is Jomtien beach water safe for swimming?
This goes back to the same old answer. Look where you are and who is taking care of things and by extension what you are paying. I started getting ear infections from the pool. One ear swelled up and I could not hear through that ear. I did not figure out what was going on for a good while until I determined it was the pool. It was one of those large resort type pools you see all over in Pattaya that come attached to those cheap resort type condo rooms. I don't think many are maintained correctly. It takes some skill to keep pool water just right and the Thsi's probably don't have a lot of training or interest in that area unless it's a top end hotel. I would risk a spa pool as the people there seem to have more knowledge about water and that sort of thing. Of course, you're paying for a spa experience to get it.

Is filming the deed illegal?
I talked to her about it again and here is the rub. Apparently, it's a real dude and someone who had been in Pattaya previously and met her. He ran out of money and had to return to the Uk. They were still in touch and he resorted to asking her to call in when she was with other guys and basically lived through them as if it were himself. It's just some guy that ran out of money, has no prospects where he is from and cannot return due to financial issues. Sounds pretty sad and pitiful and that's all I heard, folks. It sounds pretty insane but I think there are a lot of guys out there like that. Especially, if they lived here awhile, met someone and could not move on after leaving. That's probably why a lot of guys do the "sponsorship" thing, sending money from abroad you hear about more often.

Farang assaulted during accident
You left the guy helpless getting punched in the street? I have no respect for you here as a man. Even as an older guy I would have created some sort of distraction. Could have been filming, yelling, anything, running in and dragging the guy away?? Did you even look for a cop or call the police at a 7-11?
-
Is filming the deed illegal?
That's what I was afraid of. Her just doing some fake phone call then switching it over to some cam thing. Or, even if it was legit the guy recording it and using it in the future by uploading it onto a site somewhere. There is also the free sex aspect which seems odd. There are probably not many women who would have a voyeruristic partner living abroad who was into that, but I have heard of that sort of thing before.
-
Is filming the deed illegal?
That's crazy. How does anyone know if they are being filmed or not? I guess it's the person posting it who would be at fault unless the partner was somehow guilty by association.

Disregard the post above about hyde park. I hated them.

Is filming the deed illegal?
Is being involved in being filmed, online live stream, safe here, or against the rules?? I'm asking because a female offered it to me for free if her male friend could watch online through the phone. I don't know her well so have no way of knowing who would be watching, but I don't really care unless I could get caught up in something.
