Hotel Policy On Theft
There are some pretty uptight people commenting here making a mountain from a molehill. That was my worry about the hotel. Some irate thai going off the deep end about a theft. If this happened in my home country it would be brushed off as nothing. If I asked it would be brought to me. Here, after spending an hour explaining why I needed some more dishes I would probably be charged extra. "You get what you pay for..."

Hotel Policy On Theft
I forgot to add that even a small bauble looks like a big issue to a thai. In my country it's a nothing, an oversight. Here, it's a day's wages.

Hotel Policy On Theft
I did not think it was a big deal because it was stuff that I felt was lacking in my room. After thinking about it though, I returned it. The reason was that it may look like one of the maids did it and I like the maids here.

Hotel Policy On Theft
Do you think taking stuff from the hotel lobby or restaurant to use in your room there would be considered theft in Thailand? I'm talking about pricey dishes, ornaments and that sort of thing. Or, switching a ratty chair in your room for a better one in the next room. In the USA it would not be a big deal as long as it was returned, but in Thailand people seem so uptight I'm feeling like it may be a big deal or even be considered stealing.

I won't be back
- I won't be back
It's only having them overnight, strangely. So out by 9pm in my opinion. It only seems to be an issue with hotels/guesthouses. If you met someone after that there are plenty of short time hotels (usually numbers for the name. Like Hotel 303, etc), that probably would not get inspected. It would still be a risk though. It's an outdated esoteric law so not rigidly enforced. Nightlife areas are most at risk. Not a problem for rented apartments or AirBB, unless someone complained, but not common.- I won't be back
I had the police come into my hotel room to inspect for girls. They knocked, but unlocked the door when I did not answer. Checked in closet, bathroom, etc. Asked for passport. Was alone at the time fortunately. This was near drinking street in Hcmc.- I won't be back

One gets Thai's that are angry at the lack of money but will not lower prices due to pride and lack of humility. The result is likely more violent incidents and blow ups.- I won't be back
They want to avoid the entire area, not just the center area. The reason is the people there, not bars.- I won't be back
I have a bunch of medical issues, man. I have not even started yet. Maybe you can learn something.- I won't be back
Ask the guy in the mirror. He has all your answers and he's always there when you need him.- I won't be back
Another thing I liked about Vietnam is it appeared to be devoid of the stupid sexpat stuff you see in Thailand. It exists, you just don't see it much in daily life due to the stigma. You need to grow up a little as a man to make it in Vietnam. If you are used to the Soi Bukhaou or whatever type scene in Pattaya where you can act like a goofball you probably won't like Vietnam.- I won't be back
I liked Hanoi. I lived downtown and also by Tay Ho Lake for about a year total. Things were much cheaper (especially housing). I probably would have stayed there if they had a long term visa. I did not like Hcmc as much, but knew people who liked it. Cooler in Hanoi. I did not take to the oceanside towns as much. Da Lat is worth a visit if you can get up there. City of eternal spring. The women were nice, a sea of gorgeous women everywhere.- 180 day /new tax rule?

I'm glad I never opened a bank account here. My Usa bank has been working for over a decade living abroad. I remember people telling me how crazy I was to not have a local bank account. I always said why, all I need is cash. I tried it once in pattaya and got the worst employee ever, just a total bit@h. I walked out and figured they don't deserve any deposit and never tried again. Imagine trying to withdraw money and having to deal with someone like her. If my Usa account ever has problems on residency I'll just open an international account at the same bank, problem solved.- Middle aged pudgy angry men

I have some relatives that keep cats inside 24/7 even though they have huge yards. The cat sits by the window and just stares outside all day. They can't empathize with the animal and just think it's Ok because the cats don't complain. I think it's also about having complete control over the animal.- Out of control dogs
