Sure, but this is expected of anyone successful living in Thai society. If you were a broke drunk with gambling debt they would probably care for you and not ask for money. You'd still be accepted in society though. I like this about Asian culture. When I was staying at a gfs family home her grandma gave me 1000 baht. They live in one of those open air farm houses and sleep on the floor with lizards and critters on the walls so hardly rich. I took them out for dinner to the most expensive restaurant in the nearby city but even that was a struggle to pay. I'm sure I broke some faces but whatever. Edit: age plays a huge role in this
