Has anyone noticed the huge numbers of these giant Siamese Beetle bugs this year? Something must be unusual this year compared to the past. We often get a few of the male and female bugs around here every year, they usually feed off of our sugar cane, then I suspect they come back to breed, as after gouging on sugar cane they roll over and die.
This year is markedly different, as in the past 3 or 4 days, we must have picked up over 100 of these huge bugs, mainly male that are dying or dead.
We don't use insecticides or herbicides so I presume the deaths to be "natural" but for some reason the sheer numbers this year are massive.
Hopefully this is just some natural cycle and that there isn't something killing off these bugs in huge numbers, anyone else notice the increase this year?
